Yeah it was good. All 3 of us got the wings, and we all agreed that they were excellent. Perfectly cooked, very nice seasoning. I had the whiskey barbecue with some buffalo sauce on the side and that was a perfect combo. The oatmeal Stout was also very good and they have a large selection of local beers as well. Cool atmospher. We got there like 10 minutes before closing and they were very accommodating and allowed us to order and hang around. I'd go back.

Great Great place. Awesome food and you must have their Old Fashion. OMG it was soooo good. If your seated at a table, step up to the bar and watch the skilled bar tenders make your old fashion. We enjoyed it so much we ate there both nights we were in town. We tipped at 50 percent the service, food, drink, people and atmosphere was so enjoyable. Very highly recommended

I really wanted to love this place, but it just didn't happen. We walked in, sat down, and waited for a server. When he came over after 5 minutes, he was very nice but told us we couldn't sit up front because our kids (15 &17) were not 21. They have no signage showing this from where we walked in.We were pointed in a direction to a place in the back where kids could be served. It was another full bar. Now I was confused.A lady that I suspect was the owner seated us. I asked about the weird deal not letting kids eat at the front. She explained how it is a small town and people want to go out after work and not hear kids. Makes sense for screaming toddlers but not almost adult kids. Either way, that's fine, but post signs about this. Also, this is a major tourist town, and the Brewery is named Mt Rusmore brewing. It 100% a gimmick to bring in tourists so I didn't understand the pitch, really lol.A very nice server takes our drink order and promptly gets us drinks. I ordered a barrel aged beer. The beer was not cold. I am used to crafts served under 40 degrees. I asked the waitress, and she had no idea about temps. A brewery with uneducated staff about beer, this is super weird! I told her the beer didn't have the taste of barrel aged. She said they do not have the barrel aged version in the back bar, so she gave me a different version. That is like ordering a tuna fish sandwich and receiving PB&J, lol! So weird! The food had a fantastic presentation but was not good. Pizza tasted frozen. The sauce had a good zing, but that was it. Chicken wings were rubbery. The burger was good! The hot burger plate was so salty and not cooked right. It was on the verge of leathery texture. The reason we went to this establishment was for their trash can nachos. It's a fitting name for them. We ate them because we were extremely hungry after a long trip. The chips were good. The chicken was cubed to the size of croutons and didn't seem like real chicken. Hardly any tomatoes, onions or other topping you normally find. Lastly, they used canned nacho cheese like you get on nachos in a gas station. For a $15 price point appetizer, we were not happy with these. The gimmick is great, and the reality was not.My kids said the food reminded them of the school cafeteria. I agree. It looked a lot better, but the taste was not.The staff in the back restaurant was super awesome and made us welcome. That's my best takeaway. We will be trying other restaurants while we are in the area going forward. I really wanted to love e this place it just didn't happen.

This was our first visit at Mt. Rushmore Brewing. There is inside and outside seating in the front and rear of the building. We chose to sit in the back on the large deck. Their beer selection was limited but the allowed us to sample two beers before deciding which one we wanted. We ordered the combo basket and two of their craft beers. Our server was very good and the beers were brought out in a timely fashion. However, it took an half an hour to get the appetizer. The appetizer was good once we got it. Overall, I'd rate this place just a little over average.

Pet friendly brewery in Custer near Mt. Rushmore and Needles Highway. Friendly staff and great outdoor and indoor seating.Full menu of food available however this visit was to try the beer which was refreshing on the warm summer afternoon.Recommended stop over anytime you are in the Black Hills region of Southwest South Dakota.

Both my wife and I ordered a bison burger (which was an upcharge) it was nothing special and seemed like a regular pre-made patty. We also order the pretzel with beer cheese for an appetizer.... the waiter brought us our burgers and asked if everything looked OK. We notified him we never got the pretzel. He brought out the pretzel a little bit later..... guess we will eat dinner in reverse. 1st time there and we ate on the patio.

Very nice micro brewery on premises, with rotating flavors available. Simple menu with delicious choices! The Buffalo steak was cooked perfectly, with healthy sides added to the dish. The pasta here was surprisingly amazing as well. Portions are perfect, just enough for everyone who ate.

Splendid! We sat on the down stairs balcony. It was excellent! This is one of our favorite spots. We have been here many times. Every time we leave we are satisfied and have full tummies. There are some outdoor games here with fooseball and shuffleboard inside the upstairs. There are also fire pits with yard chairs surrounding it. This is a fun kid friendly restaurant that I recommend! Five emojis that describe my experience are…. 🍕😁😎🌲🍻

I'll say 5 stars, even tho I couldn't have the beer (gluten allergy). Carlos was very friendly and even gave me a little tour of the new area up front that just opened a few days ago. I also got to see the brewing area and talk to the brewmaster. They are planning some ciders! The food was very good for the taproom area (The Pounding Fathers restaurant was upstairs and we didn't choose it). The mahi mahi was delicious, blackened and spicy like I like it, I tasted Old Bay. Definitely go there if you are in Custer and like beer. Margaritas were good for me.

The Buffalo burger was pretty good! Will be comparing this with Black Hills Buns Co tomorrow, but if they are closed, I recommend the Pounding Fathers Burger and the Pounding Father's Salad with the cream ale!! Very good! Oh and the wings as an appetizer.I was so hungry and excited when my burger came out, I forgot to take a pic! Lol

The ambience was funky and cool. Our server Elle was amazing. Not only did she give us delicious food suggestions but also gave us beer samples to figure out what we liked.Food!1. Avocado hummus - fun unique twist with carrots and celery2. Chicken wings , pretty good and spicy3. Grilled Mahi with fries and coleslaw. I'm from a beach town and can be snobby with fish. Not only was it moist and tender but also flaky and perfectly seasoned. We enjoyed everything and the staff was amazing

We stopped in after a full day in Custer State park. The 5 choice beer flight was nice so we could try different ones...we each had one favorite. We got a bunch of appetizers, which were just okay. The fries were cooked to perfection...that was their saving grace.A fun stop for local beer lovers...

4 and 1/2 stars. We visited with a party of 6 for dinner. Our server, Edgar, was exceptional! Very friendly and attentive. The food was great, for the most part, with the real star of the table being the scallop pasta. It was amazing!! The roasted beet salad was the only thing that wasn't enjoyed. They provided onion rolls at the beginning of the meal that were tasty and fresh. The desserts look so fancy, like art. We were probably too full to appreciate how good they were. 😂.

We had a mixed experience. In general the food was good but the service was bad. We ordered the Pad Thai. It was tasty but actually quite sweet. We also ordered the eggplant sandwich. It came dressed with onions, lettuce and tomato. The choice of lettuce and tomato were rather odd and I took them off. The soft drinks came in plastic cups that had a strong aftertaste of beer. It was a little weird. For dessert we had the bread pudding. We were surprised that it did not have alcohol in it. It did had a strong butterscotch flavor which was unexpected but very good. The waiter never came to check up on us. We both needed extra napkins and drink refills.

I really appreciate a restaurant/business who makes it up to you when a mistake is made. The food that was brought out to us was incorrect, which isn’t a huge deal as we weren’t in any rush. The waitress then brought out the correct order only a few minutes later and everything was perfect and delicious. When the bill was brought out, our beers were on the house to make up for the mistake. That’s great business!

Took 15 mins for server to take my drink order. And I ordered my food with my drink order as I had plenty of time to browse the menu. Had the Rough Rider Burger with fries and a root beer. The burger was warm while the fries were hot. The flavor of the burger was good. The BBQ sauce added the necessary kick to make it a decent burger with the onion ring. If it was served hot this would have been a great burger. The fries were hot and crisp. The root beer was good. Maybe it's made at the brewery? No way to tell as it wasn't on the menu. If you dine here along you'll probably want to sit at the bar that way you'll be noticed faster.

We came in on a Friday late afternoon, and asked to use the outside balcony, to accommodate our small dog. Mariana, a student from Romania, seated us, and was so helpful and gracious. The margaritas were tart and good. The summer salads were a work of art, and the dressing that we ordered tasted like freshly made. My wife wanted the duck linguine, but Mariana apologized that the duck was not available. No problem. She got the shrimp on the linguine. My 10oz prime steak, medium well, was sooo good. Melt in your mouth, drowning in a flavorful gravy, with perfect marbling of fat for flavor. A really great restaurant in Custer South Dakota for service and food.

Highly recommend the Mules for the adult beverage lovers and the Tatonka Steak was cooked to perfection. Service was outstanding and the atmosphere matched. We will definitely be back. We also had the Drunken Chicken which was amazing!

Beware actually 2 restaurant options at this local. Their "Founding Fathers" is a steakhouse on the "Tap Room" is bar food. My guess is the good reviews are for the restaurant. We ate at tap roomService was slow and the kitchen was nearing chaos. Less than 30% of the table were seated. Wife ordered hot hamburger (hamburger patty on mashed potatoes with gravy), came out warm, overcooked burger , with burnt gravy and 1/4 cup of mashed. I had the Rattlesnake Brat, ok flavor, less than 4 oz on giant bun and a handful of kettle chips. Chips were really good. No one offered condiments, so got my own.Other person had pizza special order. They have Alfredo sauce on special pizza but would not serve on special order. First pizza came out wrong. 2nd pizza was right Toppings. Heavy tomato sauce (asked for light), top barely hot, bottom cooked well, dough was raw.Had their English Porter... "Rail Splitter" it was very good. My recommendation is DO NOT EAT HERE! drink the beer and munch on their kettle chips!

Nothing special. My first impression when I walked up the back stairs was that there is no signage on where to stand to get a table, so I stood there awkwardly until I decided to just have a seat. Now there was nobody else waiting for a table, so I have no idea why I was ignored, but I was. It was at this point that I got someones attention and I was told that I could not seat myself and to go stand by the bar. Once again, no signage, and there was nobody from the staff there to greet me. After a few more awkward minutes I was finally sat right back where I originally sat myself.Okay, no problem. Maybe they are just understaffed. I order the stuffed mushrooms, the wings, and a beer. The beer was really good, the wings were pretty good, and the stuffed mushrooms were terrible. The cheese was horribly underwhelming and without flavor, and the mushrooms were just as bland. Big swing and a miss by the management on that item.My final verdict - meh. I'd recommend going somewhere else unless you are just interested in wings and beer!!

Enjoyed our beers from the brewery. Food was ok, but not great. Duck sliders were tasty but uninteresting. Fries are crispy fries. Got the beer cheese appetizer and it cam with a small amount of bread, not nearly enough for the quantity of cheese. One member of our group got the prime rib sliders and noted that there wasn’t much to the horseradish sauce. Two got the pork belly panini and reported it was overly sweet. There are better places to eat in Custer.
