We visited several rock shops on our trip. Without a Doubt this was the best one. Some of the most unique amazing pieces I've ever seen. Great prices, l mean really Great prices. Huge selection. Absolutely beautiful. And the owner was as enjoyable as everything else was to look at. Super Hot. 😊

Oh my god, if I could I’d give this place a million stars, their rock selection and prices are absolutely insane. Like I could happily go bankrupt here (except I won’t because their prices are SO GOOD). I got so many rocks and honestly would get so many more if I had any more space in the car. The two brothers who run the shop are also so so insanely kind and helpful.My brother works in landscape architecture and was amazed at the prices and we’re literally considering taking a road trip down here again just for this store because in Chicago these rocks would go for like 3x the price easily. (And you’d NEVER find the $1/lb deals)

My favorite place on earth. I could spend hours here. When I travel from CO I make sure to stop in EVERYDAY I am in SD just in case I missed something wish they had an online order site cause I’m always in need of more crystals

Cruising thru the Black Hills (face it, they’re mountains right?) can make you long to take a little piece home. Start your rock hounding adventure pursuing the various displays of rocks at Dave’s. Each one is marked with the region it’s from and it’s name. Inside are more polished rocks, charms, bones, vertebrae and fossils. We snagged some AZ petrified wood, Black Hill stone and a mining sample core. Affordable prices and the great thing about a rock garden, it never requires water. Stop by Dave’s, it rocks!

Very good prices for collectors who don’t have an abundance of money to spend. They have a range of stones polished and raw. They also have geodes you can crack on your own!

Great prices. Really awesome rocks, I am on a road trip and this is by far the best rock shop I have seen. It is worth stopping even if you just want to look because they have a little museum.

We were on vacation from Huntsville Al and happened upon Dave’s! Wow it is absolutely amazing!! We’ve recently had a wading pond installed in our backyard and we found a super nice petrified stump that was 250 lbs and two other nice rocks and we hauled them home in our RAV4 rental! The gas mileage was 40 Mph going up but 33 coming back home lol! So glad we found this place! I’ll take pics later!

LOVED this place. About 3 weeks ago I stopped here to look at Rose Quarts and spent $150 on random crystals and gems and antlers. This place hits the spot for the "hobbit decor" or people who really enjoy rocks, fossils and fun finds like I do. This collection was spectacular and I wish I could have the opportunity to do something like this someday.My birthstone is Turquoise and I was able to pick that up here for a reasonable price which was amazing.

This place is absolutely AMAZING!!!! The prices are perfect, the inventory is unique and extremely diverse! I found a barnacle piece that is the talk of my family. I told Dave that I needed to get it to Idaho and he wrapped all our pieces with great care at no extra cost so they would survive the trip. We are already planning another trip out to Custer just so we can stop at this shop again. I can't wait until you get an online shop as well! Definitely worth the stop!!

The guy who works here knows so much! If you have a question about rocks or fossils he can answer you. The rocks are such a good price and in great condition. I kept coming back to buy more rocks!

This is the BEST rock shop in the Black Hills area!Micheal is the best ROCK DOC around - this is your one-stop-shop for ALL rocks!A few months ago, I learned about Moldavite through Tik Tok, and I was so excited to buy some. I called every rock shop in the area, hoping they had some in stock after many videos of the powers of Moldavite went viral on Tik Tok. Every shop within a 50-mile radius was sold out. I was so happy when I called this shop and the owner, Micheal, had some moldavite in his store.Michael is so friendly and knowledgeable about all of the rocks in the shop. I bought some Moldavite, selenite, tourmaline, and meteorite, and he gave them to me for a great price!All of the rocks are displayed so nicely. They even have a card above the rocks with the information on what they are frequently used for.After having such a great experience there, I sent my sister up there for some Moldavite. Then my Mom and dad, then my brother, then a few of my friends. Now I sent anyone up there that is remotely interested in rocks.I’ve been there four times since buying the Moldavite just to chat with Michael and discover new rocks. It is always a great experience. Micheal truly loves running his shop, and he goes above and beyond to make his customers are happy.

TONS of incredibly interesting fossils, stones, rocks, and minerals in all shapes and sizes! Very fair prices - boarding on unfair to Mr. Michael, who hunts these beauties down all over the world. Kinda felt like stealing, the deals were so good. Way better than Ken's, would highly recommend!

I loved this place 😍 went on a trip to south Dakota and we had to go through this little town we liked it and wanted to check out the little town. I seen there was rock shops so we went to all of them and this one was my favorite. I just wish you could order the stuff online.

Dave's has a excellent selection of rocks and minerals and the prices are very good compared to their competitor Ken's down the street. We paid $1 per pound for rose quartz where Ken's wanted $6 per pound

All around great experience. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, passionate about the rocks and were really genuinely good people. The gentleman I interacted with made my trip when he had one the 2 stones I had been looking all over the rock shops in South Dakota. (I had been to 7 other shops and he had the perfect specimen of crystal I was looking for. The lady(I unfortunately didn’t get their names) was just as awesome. She giggled with myself and the 4 young adults with me especially when I lit up about crystals they carried. She and I had a thorough conversation about the crystals they had and encouraged me to send them an email with other specimens I was looking for. The care of the stones I bought were well protected during the drive home.

This was a super cool stop in Custer. This rock shop has a good selection, with many locally sourced stones. They’ve got everything from petrified wood to geodes and amethysts. The prices were good, and you can buy Rose quartz by the pound for super cheap compared to most other stores here. They’ve got a museum inside with rare crystals as well as authentic arrowheads. The interior is pretty big, consisting of six rooms. I’d highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a rock shop in Custer with good selections and low prices.
