We had a outside first floor room with wet bar to queen beds. It was super spacious. Everything was clean. Breakfast every day was amazing (7 night stay) definitely will stay here again. The soaps that they supplied smelled so amazing! You could tell the little things that they did to update everything and it just made it that much more special! Across the road is mini golf. The pool was the right temperature! Across the driveway is a seafood steak cafe/ bar. That was absolutely amazing. Prime rib was to die for definitely go see the owner. He is full of information about the area and gives you hot spots in the area!Rooms: We had a lower level, wet bar, two queen bed for a 7-night stay. It was super spacious. Pretty big TV for everyone to see from either part of the room.Nearby activities: Mini golf across the road and steak and seafood Cafe right across the driveway. Literally just a few steps. Absolutely amazing food awesome owner!

This hotel is okay. The location is excellent for getting to Custer state park, jewel cave, wind cave, crazy horse and Mt. Rushmore. The bathroom fan was so loud and was connected to the light so you could not be in the bathroom without the loud fan. It was so loud that it was impossible to talk over. The shower was not the cleanest but the rest of the bathroom was acceptable. The towels felt like sand paper and were tiny. The mattresses were comfortable. The blanket situation was weird because it was just two sheets with one thin blanket between them. I have never stayed at a hotel that did not have a real blanket/ comforter. The blanket being sandwiched between the sheets (along with not seeing housecleaning take any of the brown blankets out of the rooms during turn over service) makes me think these blankets are not washed between guests. The parking situation was less than ideal. We got in one night at about 10pm and there was not a single parking spot besides one handicap spot. We went in to talk to the front desk and they said to just park in the handicap spot. We did not feel comfortable doing that. The breakfast was above average for a hotel breakfast.Over all this hotel was fine

The Best Western in Custer is one of the nicest Best Western's I have stayed in. The staff was amazing! The manager Stephanie was super sweet. We lost a purse for my 6 year old and she had the staff look for it and even said she would mail it when they found it. We ended up locating it before we left but that was still super nice of them. The breakfast was the absolute best continental breakfast I have ever had. Today we had biscuits and grave with fresh REAL EGGS, and bacon! Extra shout out to Laura the lady that helps with breakfast she was overly nice and even kept checking on us at our table! Thank you to the entire staff for making this a wonderful stay! The pool area is nice as well and very clean!

I thought I would love this hotel as the location is great and the staff seemed amazing! After my stay, I do not think as highly. I came home with bed bugs and after telling the hotel that, they said they had pest control look and didn't find anything. Funny how 14 days after I left there, I didn't receive another bite, and my previous bites started to disappear and stop itching. Also, we requested a handicap room which ended up being in the furthest building away, and they admitted the only thing that made it handicap was "the shower chair". Just wait, theres more! My cousin found old, leftovers in the fridge the day she got there(YUCK) and my towels had long black hair stuck in between them, and no one in my family has anywhere close to black hair. The bathroom's seemed nice but the vent was super loud and you could not turn it off, and our shower took over an hour to drain after we turned off the water(I stood in at least 2 inches of dirty water while showering). The food was ok. The staff running the kitchen had the sweetest people there, but they didn't heat up the food before putting it out... they expected the heaters to do everything, leaving us with cold food half of the time! Last but not least, the parking was horrendous unless you got there at 4pm and stayed for the night. Even when you had a spot, trying to back out was almost impossible. I am extremely disappointed in my stay and unless something changes, I will NEVER be staying there again and you really shouldn't either. Spend the extra few dollars and go to the hotels right across the street!Nearby activities: Super close to downtown so all of those shops and some yummy restaurants nearby!Walkability: There was an amazing Putt-Putt right across the street and downtown was within walking distance if you were willing to spend about 15ish minutes getting there.

This motel is conveniently located on the westside of Custer. It's an older motel that has been very well kept. The breakfast is very good and they have staff keeping things replenished and the area clean. We've been surprised how quiet our room has been. Our first impression when driving in the parking lot was, oops, maybe we should have made reservations elsewhere. However, the three nights that we've been here has been great. There is a restaurant/bar adjacent to the motel if you just don't want to drive anywhere.

At first glance, this place is OK. Older, roadside motel look, but rooms are easy to get to. We had a large, 2-room suite with a king and queen in separate bedroom, and the bathroom area was also separate, with yet another door separating the shower and toilet. Unique but useful layout. The beds were comfortable. Pool was by far the largest indoor pool of every hotel we stayed on our 2-week trip, and there's a nice little raised platform area with more comfortable seating that was nice. Breakfast was in the main lobby and was decent. There were iPads on the tables for people to take selfies. Overall, it wasn't terrible, but on closer inspection, there were a couple real problems. Our bathroom had mold growing on the wall and ceiling. There is zero ventilation in there, and the toilet tank was leaking. One of the 2 sinks wouldn't drain well. The walls had been painted over several times and the paint was bubbling and peeling in several spots. The bathroom was overall pretty gross when you started looking at it. Not the greatest room, but we did stay in one that was worse. I would maybe look around a bit if you're able.Update: the response from BW is false. Our room had 2 sinks. It was a double vanity. And I watched the water coming out of the base of the toilet myself. The mold is prevalent and easy to spot as it incorporates a good 2 square foot area and is black mold on white walls and ceiling, so either this hotel thinks we stayed in a different room (please check again) or are lying, which ticks me off.

The staff is GREAT. We had bugs in our room, and the neighbors were loud until about 3am. Both my son and I woke up with lots of bites on our legs. Not the most pleasant. Pool was nice, clean.Rooms: BugsNearby activities: lots to do.

Nice hotel. Things are great besides the pool. There is no information stating that you no longer have a hot tub in the pool area. And the front desk lady said the pool was heated. Hard to tell when your shivering when in it. Unfortunately that was my deciding factor for this hotel so I am upset that it's a lie. We won't be back because we will look for a hotel with Hot Tub.

This was the worst hotel I have stayed at. The owners of this place just bought some dumpy motel and slapped the Best Western logo on it. My room has a bunch of drain flys coming out of the sink. The bathroom was super gross with no fan so it just turns into a humid mess when you take a shower. Tried to open up a window to get some fresh air and vent the bathroom and it was painted shut. Avoid this place if you can!

Very clean and comfortable room! Stephanie was very welcoming upon check in. The breakfast was very good also and the two women in charge did a great job keeping the food stocked for the crowd!Noteworthy details: Good restaurants in town!

We really enjoyed the room…it was me and my Dad and our two queen bedroom was two separate bedrooms which was unexpected but really cool! Also the ladies setting up the breakfast did a great job!Rooms: It was really awesome to have separate bedrooms. Bottom line…very comfortable and pleasant stay while also being very affordable! 👍🏻

Extremely clean, nice big rooms, quite spacious compared to most comparable hotels. Super friendly and helpful staff, I'd stay here again!ONLY down side: the hot tub is NOT there anymore, contrary to photos still posted. That was a big bummer, especially for a small family excited for swimming. If you don't care about that, this is the place to stay near Custer.

Nice, clean, friendly, and convenient! Our room was basic but clean. Room service is by request, not daily, which was fine for our 5 night stay. Extra towels and such are available as needed at the front desk or by phone. We went on a wheeling trip and ended up parking our truck and trailer across the road as there aren't any double parking spots, (truck with trailer) in the lot, and parked our wheeler in the lot outside our area of the building. We can't speak to the condition of the pool area as we never used it. The free breakfast was VERY nice to have! The ice machine was a blessing as it was HOT all but 1 day of our stay and keeping our food and drinks cold on the trail was important. Overall a good experience and we wouldn't hesitate to stay here during our next trip! Thank you to all of the staff, and keep up the great work! I dropped 1 star for no onsite parking for trucks with trailers. No big deal, but that would have made for a 5 star rating.
