I mean the quality of the rooms isn’t the reason for a 1 star review instead it was the fact that the owner keeps his dogs locked/Kenneled up behind/next to the rooms. And last night those dogs wouldn’t stop barking from ~1130 pm to 2:30 am. We had to repeatedly go out and yell at them to shut up just to get 30 min of silence before they started up again. And it wasn’t like 1 bark a minute it was like 10 barks in 45 seconds. For . Hours…Outside the dog barking for hours, the rooms are okay for the price. There’s a microwave fridge and stove with burners to cook on. Bathroom was what you’d expect from ~70 buck a night stay. Although you only get soap no shampoo. I’d stay there again if the owner moved his dogs or locked them up with a bark collar

We used just the guide service for walleye. We did not stay in the motel. The owner Allen was a real nice guy, we called only a few days in advance and at that moment they were able to accommodate us. The guide we had was great, all the boats were nice, caught our limit by 1pm, they cleaned the fish for us and bagged them. At the end there was a nice snack table with refreshments! Great price and nice people- would book a guide service here again without hesitation.

Stayed here 09/06 and 07 2023 , it's not perfect but the owner and family were so nice and have free beer and drinks , it's the best I have ever slept in a motel !!!! , I'm from Ohio and it was a once in a lifetime to visit South Dakota and glad we came across this motel , happy fishing everyone and hope your stay was as nice as mine was.

The room was very outdated. Stains on the blankets, bed and bathroom walls. Toilet seat had some fecal matter smeared on it from the last guest. I thought that was a stain too until we wiped the seat. The whole toilet was unclean in general.A screw sticking out of the headboard.

GOT BED BUGS!!! Additionally, the linens had not been changed from the previous guests—dirty toothpicks and crumbs in one of the beds. And the bathroom looks like this.. stay here at your own risk.Safety: The chain on the door had been removed. No deadbolt at all.

Would hit zero stars if I could. First off the website does not match the price on hotel and the fishing guide. The beds were terrible. The pillows were terrible, you could smell the last person who had slept there's breath. The beds had dirt and mud under them cearly never been cleaned. We found trash and pop bottles under our beds. Our room was directly behind a dog kennel nothing like hounds at 3 am. All of us woke up with bug bites. The door is not sealed properly, you could sticks fingers out of gaps. Would never let my wife stay here, you could easily record under the door. If you are using a card you will be charged 4 dollars per swipe. Parking is a nightmare can't imagine what it would be if all the rooms were full. The only thing I can say that is good about this place is the guide. Even that was a let down with the limit being 4. Honestly not worth the price would recommend going somewhere, anywhere, else. Maybe more variety of fish where the guide took us got nothing but walleye and lasted 2 hours. Don't go here. Picture I took didn't give true nature of how bad it was under the beds inch thick of dirt and random trash.

Don't expect a 5 star Hotel, but as a fishing guide hot spot and a place to lay your head after a day of fishing you can't beat it. Everyone is so willing to share info but what's hot. They have great snacks in the lobby. All the bait you need. Just a super cool place. I will definitely be back.

If you just need a place to sleep and leave then it's ok. The room wasn't dirty, but it certainly wasn't clean either. It's very outdated, doesn't look like the rooms have changed since the 70s. The owner is very friendly, and I think they cater more to fishing and hunting trips, which seem to be highly recommended with all the pictures of letters from previous customers.

Would prefer Zero star but have to click one star to post . Passed thru with the family and would not recommend for a family stay. OK for the fishing buddies that don't worry about cleanliness. The room we had was dirty, bathroom wasn't cleaned at all, hair all over and the flooring is so bad its getting moldy along the tub and around the stool. Carpet is really dirty and old, didn't want to take my shoes off never mind the kids shoes. the comforters were stained and the mattresses are 100 plus years old. If it was a cheap room it would be OK but 85 is not cheap for a room like this.i asked him on the phone if it was clean and he said oh sure its clean. Would probably hire the guide service but will never stay in the rooms again unless newly remodeled!

We had an awesome day on the river. Our guide, Eric was incredible. We will definitely be back again. The area is beautiful. We had two of my grandchildren along and we caught enough fish to fill out, and returned so many to the river that they had a blast. As a grandpa, fishing with his son and two grandchildren........ PRICELESS

My husband and I stopped at our 1 year anniversary trip at the Motel. Nothing fancy, but clean and people are very friendly and welcoming. The owners helped us with the best fishing spots around the lake even we did not book a tour. Definitely will be back.Micky & Anthony

Owners are very nice and there is usually always a room available. Hard to beat the price for a room in this town and restaurants and groceries are less than a block away.Though you get what you paid for there are some issues. Parking can get really bad especially with fishers and their boats. Wifi is very bad (>1Mb) with constant disconnects. Bathrooms are a bit dated. Flies somehow are always around. And the Beds are a bit stiff. Other than that its defintely a place to stay if all you need is a room and a shower.

Ok smelled bad like old smome and damp bedding. Air conditioner couldn't keep up with humidity. Sheets were clean, but pillows were nasty. Bathroom was clean just old. If you are there to hunt and fish on the guided tours it's probably fine. It was the last room available in the whole town and the owner was a great guy.

We got into town late and wanted to try a cheap place just to sleep and leave in the morning. When we got to the room it was dimly lit, had few outlets, had water stained wood panel walls, a gross bathroom, a very uneven floor and the door wouldn't lock properly. We turned in the keys and stayed somewhere else. A room like that should be under $30. This place probably has 4 stars due to the free booze and popcorn in the office.

There is a BIG difference between dirty, and old. This place is old, maybe built in the 60s or 70s. But it is clean, not sparkling new, but clean. If you're a person that insists on a sterile place to sleep, then stick with a known chain and pay the price. This place is great for anyone who wants to pay less, and wants to meet interesting people. Captivating and charming without trying to be. Authentic small town Midwest atmosphere.

My grandpa, dad, and I wanted a great place to go to spend father’s day with my grandad because we don’t get to see him often and we got there and loved it immediately. We have definitely enjoyed our stay and the fishing was phenomenal and we cannot wait to go back fishing tomorrow. Thank you Allen’s Fishing for the wonderful time and amazing service. THE best guides in the state! Hands down! I can’t even imagine a better way to spend the day with family than with fishing with one of of Allen’s guides. Our guides were Eric and Lee; our party consist of 8 of us ages 5-71 and the guides were outstanding with each and everyone of us!

Been going here for 15+ years now, rooms are quite dated but great rates. Has on site cleaning station so no waiting at the dock to clean fish and excellent river fishing advice daily, plus free coffee and donuts in the a.m. and beer and mixed drinks in the p.m.

What a GREAT place. Not fancy, but very comfortable. Plenty of interesting people staying here to talk with around sunset. Was nice to park right outside the room. And the people running it are so very friendly. Thank you!

Cheap paneled walls, no comfortable chairs, kitchen and bathroom facilities right of the 1950s. I don't mean new retro, I mean old worn 1950s. Bathroom not clean. Ridiculous for the price! Stay away!
