Caputa Alpacas offers an one of a kind experience. The alpacas are incredibly amiable and well cared for making the visit enjoyable, for both adults and children. The staff shares insights about alpaca care and their interactions with humans. The picturesque environment further enhances the appeal. Whether you're visiting with your family for a fun excursion or you have a fondness, for animals Caputa Alpacas is a place to connect with these captivating creatures and embrace natures beauty.

My daughter and I love Alpacas so when I was planning our South Dakota trip I found this place. We stopped by and the gate was closed but I just called the phone number on the Google maps info and they came right out. It's obvious why they keep the gate closed as the Alpacas are free roaming on the property. They had 75 Alpacas when we were there summer of 2023 and they were watching 5 others.Glenn was awesome and his wife was super nice too. He immediately got some food for us to feed them and he has names for all of them. The Alpacas were very healthy, friendly and cute as ever. You can really tell they take excellent care of their animals. They had a wonderful gift shop and you could see the awards they have won with their Alpacas.Wonderful time and so worth the stop. It's everything you'd hope it to be and more.

Great people and awesome alpacas. They sell hand made alpaca goods inside the shop. If the gate is closed all you have to do is open it, drive in and make sure you close the gate behind you. There will be someone there to greet and show you the Alpacas. They also have restrooms that are nice and clean. A good place to stop on the way out to the Badlands.

Approximately 20 minutes away from Rapid City and 50 minutes from the Badlands, Caputa Apacas sits at a very convenient location. In addition to its one hundred alpacas, this farm houses an assortment of other animals including a horse, geese, kittens (6 months old at the time!), dogs, and a turkey who would follow you around. The owner was nice, informative, and patient (we spent ∼45 minutes just petting animals). 11/10 would recommend you visit this place if you're ever in the area. Just be sure to call ahead of time and let the owner know you're coming.

Had a great time feeding the Alpacas. I had no idea they were so soft! The gentleman knew his alpacas by name and was happy to explain the difference between alpacas and llamas to me. 🤭

A great reprieve from a lot of driving! The geese alerted the owners to our arrival, and we were met with buckets of food to feed the alpacas and llamas. The animals walked right up to us!

Glenn and Debbie are absolutely fabulous people. Their alpacas are beautiful, friendly, and will for sure put a smile on your face with their unique personalities. Make sure you hop into their gift shop. Alpaca insole liners for your shoes, hats, socks, and yarn galore. Some of the best quality yarn I have ever purchased. We will be back for sure.

Awesome place. Learned a lot about alpacas and the kids had a wonderful time feeding them. The owner is very helpful and shared his knowledge with the kids and adults alike. They have a small store with both local products and Columbian and Peruvian alpaca products.

The best one on one interaction with alpacas!! Came all the way from Texas to see Mt Rushmore and spotted this on Google maps and had to visit. The owner, Glen, is just awesome. Retired marine and running his alpaca and llama farm. He gave us all the facts and details on both animals. We hit the off season (April) and we were the only ones there. Anyone visiting needs to check his place out.

Great experience! We stopped here as one of our stops on vacation and had a great time feeding the animals! Our kiddo had a blast and says 5 stars is not nearly enough. It was so much fun and learned quite a bit. They do have a gift shop with wool from the animals on site and socks and hats from Peru. All together a great place to spend some time if you have the chance!

Pulled up to the gate and owner came out right away. He walked us all over while we fed animals and took photos and told us lots about alpacas and lamas. Nice small gift shop where we bought yarn, socks and left a donation. Fun outing for all ages!

The beauty of the Animals is on full display with the cooler weather. They are curious and each one has a unique personality. Not to be missed. There is a gift shop with Alpaca products. I have bought gloves, a neck gaiter and a hat and I really like the warmth and softness. Stop by and check it out.

Four months on the road and this was our favorite stop. Owners are the kindest people and the alpacas are so much fun. Definitely stop if you’re even considering it!

Well worth your time to go visit and spend time with the alpacas. The owner was very hospitable and allowed us a chance to feed and pet the alpacas while touring around the farm and answering our questions. This was a true highlight of our rapid city visit.
