Update. Construction is done and it is no better.. This is the closest Walmart to us and we try and avoid going here. They never have the shelves stocked. When they started closing early to stock shelves and clean that was a joke. Everytime we go in there are boxes everywhere but nothing on the shelves. It is a hit or miss if what you're looking for will be there. I get it is like this everywhere since Covid but this Walmart seems to be the worst when it comes to keeping anything stocked.We shop at this Walmart quite often since it is the closest one to us. Right now it is under construction and it is really hard to find what you are looking for. Hopefully when they are done it will be a better shopping experience. Most of the time, they are stocked with items. The cleaner section is pretty bare and has been since Covid started. They have a bakery, pharmacy, order pick up, and an auto center. There is some staff that is really friendly and others are not. They do seem to keep closing doors. As of today, you can only enter and exit through the door by the produce. Makes the parking lot a nightmare over there. I went through the self check out and the lady working was really nice and pleasant and she washed down each station after they were used. When college is in, the store is a lot more packed and seems busier since it is right across the street. We try and do all of our shopping early to miss more crowds if we can. There is a Runnings, Lowes, car dealership, Perkins, Culvers, Taco Bell, and a hotel all in the same area where you pull in and out so it does get quite congested sometimes trying to get around.

Shopping here can be quite a sensory nightmare because it's always so unbearably hot and humid and musty 😝 in the store (even during fall/winter months). Never seems to have any ventilation whatsoever. There's always too many people. I prefer ordering my items through the Walmart app because of all that.The clothing selection in-store and on the app is very slim for plus sizes. I've lost weight now, thankfully, but you can't ever find black leggings in 3x, and they don't carry any larger sizes than that. It's hard to find 2x black leggings also, so I can't wait until I'm down to an XL so that maybe I can find that size on the racks and on the app. When you try to order clothes on the app, it's the same thing. Always, "Unavailable." In-store, you really have to do some digging in the clothes section to find anything that will do for work attire that fits plus sizes because most employers don't allow you to wear stretch pants or work out pants. God forbid you be able to work comfortably and more efficiently and be able to squat/bend down 😆They have a ton of the local "SDSU" apparel in a variety of sizes and styles. However, the local school district apparel is very lacking. They don't have adult sizes in "Bobcat" apparel, which is another disappointment to those of us who want to show support for our kid's events. We shouldn't have to special order that kind of stuff when children's sizes are sold in-store.Shopping for groceries can be disappointing as well. Breads, meats, cheeses, other dairy products, and produce get bad quickly. I bought string cheese there, and it doesn't go bad supposedly until January 4th, 2024. However, it already has mold spores on them today, 11/30/2023. That's not the first time I've had that happen, but I wanted to give them another shot in that department. Breads get moldy fast as well. A lot of the produce isn't fresh. If you are a person who consumes mostly canned/packaged, highly processed foods/sodas/juices, you'll be fine shopping for that here, just not anything else.The local HyVee in town has the best meat, cheese, and produce.I don't use the auto care center and wouldn't after an experience I had in 2012.The pharmacy is alright if you do drive-thru. They are a bit slow though. When they tell you it'll be 5-10 minutes, it's more than likely going to be more like 20-30 minutes instead.I recommend Lewis Drug for all your pharmaceutical needs.Walmart is good for your toiletries and personal care needs. They've got all the items pretty much every time I need them.Like I've said, I prefer the pickup option all the time. They get the stuff out as fast as they can. The only thing that's annoying are the orange cones that are placed haphazardly, and some cars bump them. We know that's where the associates come out. There's no need to place objects in the way of the workers and vehicles. I used to be able to drive toward the left a bit to give the workers enough space between my vehicle and the other vehicle they are loading up, but not anymore. It's a tight fit, and if the worker isn't over far enough, you have to wait until they are done with that pickup customer. It'll be interesting in that area of the parking lot when the snow finally decides to fall 😒

Same like any other Walmart. Only 2 cashiers are working on two conveyor belts with long line up. The self check out is a mysterious machine to use for people who are not computer savvy.

got a flat and walmart was the only place open on a sunday. waited FIVE HOURS and they “couldn’t get the fourth tire figured out” awful mechanics who have no clue what they are doing and extremely rude. the car is in my name and the dude handed the keys to my boyfriend and refused to hand them to me. like what?? DONT GO HERE!!!!!

Spent two hours waiting on tires to be put on, just to be told they didn’t “carry that size”. Coming from Oregon headed to Alabama on two bold tires in the snow and ice. 2 hours….oh and it’s on a Saturday evening and now EVERYTHING is closed til Monday! Thanks guys!

Decent store. This is one wal mart that don't hound you walking out wanting to see reciepts and checking whole cart. Friendly workers here

Very nice Walmart, it’s clean and fancy. Never had any issues with the workers and stuff is always in its place. The only thing I have to say is that the aisles are crowded with pallets of stuff, but that’s understandable.

Pretty clean Walmart. People are very nice. 4 stars for the number of pallets that are left blocking every turn in the store at all times but I also understand, how else are you supposed to keep things stocked? It's completely reasonable, just annoying.

I love that they have everything but it’s aggravating that they seem to move everything around so that you have to search for things on your list instead of being able to run in get your stuff and run in if you’re in a rush.

My husband works at a different store and enjoyed seeing the differences...the store is colorful and, like all stores, helpful....we found souvenirs at lower prices than "on-sight" places....store is clean...one of the nicest features is that is is only a block from our motel.

Okish prices, some good employees, however produce is lacking. I've gotten oranges and apples from here and they mold in 2 days. Customer service, I've had good experience with but I've always made sure to keep receipts otherwise you will get yelled at

Just moved to texas and let me tell you the store here doesn't look the same as this. I really enjoyed shopping there. It was really easy to shop there and everything was accurate on the Walmart app also. It was always neat and clean and organized. Staff members were also really polite and respectful. I really enjoyed my time there.

Staff messed up and marked down something from almost $40 to $5 in the aisle, yet it still said $40 at register. Although it took a long time, they still honored it, so my son got his toy for $5. Thanks for making it right.

The Walmart in Brookings SD is the best I have ever been. Friendly staff every where and spotless clean. And an innovative checkout system I have never seen before. You don't have to wait in line here. My perception is that the management must be Walmarts best.

The new entry doors inside are not great. I tried to go through one that was open and it closed on me and started dinging. I'm not sure what's going on with the womens clothes section. I look in the plus section and it's not the plus sizes, then in the junior plus I see what I would expect to see in women's plus. The lady that checked me out barely said a word to me. I don't think she even looked at me when she handed me the receipt. I said thank you trying to get her attention and nothing. It wasn't even that busy.
