Absolutely amazing food, employees, and vibe! Everyone was so friendly especially the older gentleman there. The price is a little more than I'd like to pay, if there were fries with the food for the total price we paid I think it would have been completely fair, but in no means am I complaining. It's definitely a local owned business and they have to set the price to match the costs. Definitely worth a try! It won't be our last time there.

Nicks is our #1 stop every time we visit our family in Brookings. If we’re lucky we can have Nicks 2-3 times on a trip. I love just ketchup on my single burger, the bun melts in your mouth, it’s basic, flavorful and perfection! I also like their relish on a single. The mix of mustard and dill pickle is so good. My order is usually one of each, ketchup and relish or two with ketchup one with relish. My whole family loves the burgers here. I remember going to Nick’s as a kid and having a chocolate milk with my burger. I just wish there was a Nick’s in AZ!

The place is very quaint and -is- that classic burger counter type of spot. I feel that they’ve survived the changes of time by good, healthy acclimation while still keeping hold of their roots. The food is tasty, and incredibly affordable, I was helped by three different people all of whom were incredibly attentive to my needs as a customer. If I lived closer I’d definitely be a regular.

Nick's never fails to disappoint. It is a staple in Brookings and we make a point to stop nearly Everytime we are in town. We love the family friendly old-timey malt shop feel and the burgers are top notch! The staff is always friendly and helpful. We can't wait until next time!Kid-friendliness: Family friendly

Ever since moving here, people have told me to check out Nick's. I finally went this week.Pros:Quick delivery of foodVery friendly staffEnjoy lunch with the localsCons:Price per burger not impressive as they're small.Burger flavor. Meat isn't seasoned, so make sure to get some mustard or other toppings on the burger.Overall, I'd still recommend the place if it isn't overly busy and you've never been there before.Kid-friendliness: Too busy to be particularly kid friendly. I'd recommend taking your kids during the warmer part of the year when there is outdoor seating, as seating is extremely tight inside.

I ordered a chocolate malt that was actually pretty good for being made from soft service. The burger itself was good I wouldn't say great but just good. The bun to patty ratio is way of its a little 2oz patty that seemed very small compared to the bun almost too small. Beef quality was good and their relish and other condiments compliment nicely. Over its a decent lunch spot but that's all. They don't do frys only potato chips which is a bit of a let down I feels frys would fit it's 60's soda shop feel.

My 80 year old boss has told me about this place for years. I finally made it and tried the burger with relish. Never have I ever had a better burger. Rumor has it they use the whole cow and tallow and it just tastes delicious. The malt was exactly what I needed to enjoy the burger even more. Great service. Loved the old school stool at the counter experience. Definitely a place to detour off the interstate for.

The experience of something my father experienced 50+ years ago was well worth the drive. Stories and memories shared while we watched our burgers be cool is gonna be a fond memory. The taste was good enough for me to order a 3rd burger. Place is very simple but also great. Staff was very polite and prompt. I will return someday.

Freshly made hamburgers. A bit small so order extra or buy them by the bag.

Quick tasty food and great service. The menu is limited but it's all about the burgers. It was also a local favorite as I was recommended to eat here by a local!

Restaurants should do research on individuals before allowing them to do food challenges. The person who did a challenge yesterday has violent past online streaming and has an ED. Shame on the restaurants that allowed this.

Probably THE best hamburger bun I've ever had in my entire life. Truly remarkable. No matter where I find myself this Earth in my travels, I can now confidently state that Nick's Hamburger Shop in Brookings SD is the best bun left on this Earth. The burgers are delicious (and you'll likely order more than one 😁). Friendly people, delicious burgers. This little hamburger shop has kept some of the old ways of doing things intact - and that makes this a real gem of a burger shop.

EVERYONE needs to try this place, one of the best burgers I’ve ever had for sure. The staff is super friendly and food is so delicious, you can really tell they put quality meat in there burgers. I got 2 double hamburgers with cheese and they were fantastic I can’t wait to come back here again! If there’s one thing there missing it’s fries but for the amazing burgers chips are just fine lol
