I've been to multiple Home2 Suites over the years.... sadly this one was the worst. The room was pretty rundown and kind of dirty. Which was surprising based on my previous stays here. Also, there was a lack of pillows for us.... and when we tried calling the desk the phone wasn't connected and had a different room number on it. So we just said forget it and went to bed.The location was excellent for our travels and had quick access to the highway. The front desk staff was nice and friendly when we checked in.

Room and service was great. Great value for the rate. Clean, modern, great rate. One star rating as I left some clothes in a drawer and contacted the hotel the same day. Maid service apparently did not find or my clothes were "lost" in the lost and found. My fault for losing them in the first place, but would have thought a Hilton property would have a system to retain misplaced items when contacted a few hours after the items were left behind. Desk clerk was very friendly and looked for my items and left a note to follow up on it, but sadly my items are apparently lost forever. I followed up with no luck related to finding my items, which is disappointing. I will probably not forget my clothes in a hotel drawer again but also will remember to avoid this location if possible in the future (there were other good options available at similar rate when I booked this room...)

When we arrived, it was evening, and housekeeping was still cleaning rooms. They told us up front the wait would be around a hour, and we agreed to wait. The clean comfortable lobby was decorated for Christmas, and it was lovely. We sat and enjoyed resting, and in a while, they called us.They are pet friendly, and it's a $50 fee for as long as you're there. We didn't mind paying it, especially because our senior dog is having health issues and had a accident in the room and the hallway. We asked for a room at the end of the halls because he has separation anxiety, and we didn't want to bother anyone. Staff did what she could to try to meet our needs. Every staff member we met was warm and helpful, if necessary. One staffer opened the gym area so I could get a bowl of water for our dog while we waited for our room. Our room was clean and comfortable. The company's new housekeeping policy is every other day cleaning and the front desk staff can help patrons get other items, like clean towels, in between. It was so nice to have the kitchenette when cleaning pet bowls, re-freezing our ice packs, keeping medicines cool without having them freeze, having flatware to help with dispensing medicine, and so on.Unfortunately, I'm presuming it's just the wintertime, the pet area is dirt, gravel, and a lot of awful dead plants that crunch underfoot and cling to fur and can't be comfortable for the dog's feet. Rude people have walked their dogs and not picked up after them even though the dog area was outfitted with bags at the receptacle..Also, in the pet area and outside the wall that contains a nice seated area and warm gas fire, people have thrown cigarette butts everywhere. The parking lot itself appeared clean. Perhaps the company should add a butt container just outside the sitting area on the pet area side.We enjoyed the breakfast each morning. There was juice and coffee, yogurt, boiled eggs, oatmeal with fixings, cereal, hot entrees like omelets or fried eggs, burritos, and sausages in sweet cream pancake rolls, as well as the usual morning bread and muffin varieties. This hotel is one of a cluster of others nearby with a hall that leads to a restaurant and a huge waterpark. There are also restaurants nearby. When we come back to this area, we plan to stay here again.

My review is for (2) locations.Petaluma Ca--very friendly staff-more than (1) person at the front desk all the time-very warm colors in the rooms- breakfast had Chobani yogurt (with fruit) cups, multiple choices of a breakfast bowl or omlette, multiple choices for juice (oj, cranberry, grapefruit)-weekly full cleaning in the roomBox Elder, SD-inconvenienced staff-green baby vo.it colors in the room-torn divider Drape in the room-breakfast has Yoplait yogurt cups, sausage sitting on a tray, and omlettes, (2) juices- peach and bad oj-weekly cleaning consists of emptying the trash-(4) days in order to get wifi connected to firestik.-wind on the outside of windows causes whistling in room-talking to the manager was the only way to get any solutionsI would think as this is a chain that ALL expectations should be the same. I'd give Petalu.a a 4-5 Stars. While Box Elder 2-3 stars. This place is not meeting the standards set by my previous stay.

Unenthusiastic front desk employee upon checking-in.No explanation of hotel amenities, breakfast hours, or how the neighboring indoor water park partnership with the hotel property worked. My kids & I were disappointed to find-out the water park was closed until the following day at 4:00 pm, 5 hours after we were to check-out.Provided a room for those with disabilities for some reason, even though the hotel had a 90%+ vacancy at the time of stay.Bathroom had foul smell emanating from floor drains.Foreign hair on bathroom towels. No soap dish. No shampoo, conditioner, or body wash in bathroom (all bottles empty). One bottle, ok, it happens, but all bottles? So inconvenient.Broken shower handle wand.Broken bed sconce.Toilet was filthy (urine spots all over toilet seat). Unhygienic room cleaning. This was the deal breaker.Comforters were stained with red spots on both beds, likely from a red candy.Dirty drapery separating beds from seating area.Remote control to TV didn’t function for powering on or off, nor did the sleep timer feature work. Significant lag flipping through channels.Elevators not functioning properly during stay.Checked in past midnight but the hotel manager and cleaning crew couldn’t provide me a late check-out without charging me for a couple extra hours even though I asked nicely as a platinum Hilton Honors member - and they were at 10% occupancy or less.Terrible lobby coffee.Overall, disappointing stay compared to our stay pre-pandemic.

This is (was) our go to spot to stay in Rapid City. This visit really made us re-think that idea. This hotel has really taken a dive in the last 2 years. Your employees leave their vaping gear out on the reception desk, the house keeping is poor, and breakfast items non-existent. We were greeted with a 20" long redhead hair in the shower, and no body wash in the shower. The dish rag at the sink was saturated in water. The pillows were not the usual quality that we expect at a Hilton property. The worst was when your staff came around at 0855 banging on all the doors "to see which rooms were occupied." Don't you have a property management system for this? Upon checkout, your employee did not ask about our stay, but she did say "have a nice day" from across the lobby. So when Hilton sends me an emailed survey, there is always a question that inquires "If you had any issues, did you bring it to the attention of the staff?" WHY BOTHER??? The staff does not care, and they are not enabled to do anything about it. Disappointing in all respects.

We have stayed here alot over the years. Our most recent stay will end that streak. The room we got was so dirty, when we rolled out the bed from the couch, someone else's sleeping mask was on the stained mattress. We also found a nerf bullet and winter hat that were not ours. But the real thing was the shower, either it had not been cleaned or cleaner was left in it or something. We turned it on and went to get in and my daughter slipped immediately and busted her chin open. It was so slippery! Even then I was not going to complain but they charged us $20 extra a night so it was enough to make me never want to stay there again. The kid working the Watiki register charged us $20 for our 2 year old and refused to honor our room discount.Rooms: If it would let me I would post the pictures.Noteworthy details: Dirty rooms.

Room was as expected for a Home2 Suites (decent size). Good location (close to highway but not too close). Comfortable beds. TV has casting for YouTube and Netflix, which is convenient. The floors/carpets appear dirty - I assume this is because this particular hotel is attached to a water park (lots of kids and heavily trafficked). Similarly the bed linens look a bit dingy but smelled clean, so I don’t doubt they were clean, just well-worn. Dishwasher in my room wasn’t anchored so when I opened it looking for a fork, the entire thing came out. 😬 Found trash under the sofa when I was making sure my kid didn’t lose any toys under there (but sadly that’s common at hotels with sofas, in my experience). As others have noted, the floors are thin so you can hear people clomping around above you.I’m not a fan of the new hotel trend to have the bottles of products (soap, lotion, shampoo) on the wall in refillable bottles but if that’s the way it’s going to be, the bottles should be restocked. My room was out of hand soap (the only item I use from the hotel).Breakfast ends at 9am during the week, so be aware of that. I came down at 8:50 and everything was gone. I wasn’t aware it ended at 9, so that’s on me. 🤷‍♀️Overall, probably a great option for families coming to the water park (we were just looking for a hotel during a road trip - didn’t even know there WAS a water park. Probably wouldn’t have stayed here if we knew). It could be cleaner but given the water park proximity, I’m sure they’re doing the best they can. Not a bad hotel but I probably wouldn’t pick it again unless my destination was the water park.

Stayed there for one night forgot my phone went back THE SAME DAY and wasn’t turned in so i kept calling the days after that the last time i called she said she’ll put my me a brief hold only to hang up 30 seconds later. Fast forward to now the location of my phone is now at one of the employees houses. Don’t forget stuff here because they don’t make it to lost and found.

I’ve always loved Hiltons. Now I don’t.-Front Desk said we didn’t get a room that had dogs allowed… we did … dog hair everywhere…-Room smell like wet dog and like a dog took a fresh dump…-Check the dishwasher and there was dishes still in it…-Bathroom… door was nasty and sticky.. floor had dog hair all over it… toilet had stains in it like it wasn’t clean…-Shower wasn’t clean… black dirt I guess on the floor of it…I’m over it… their is no hotel now that I trust with my kids…I used to clean for a million dollar cleaning company … Cleaning high end homes..I know what to look and how to clean…

This hotel is in a huge complex of hotels surrounding a water park. We were not greeted by the desk clerk when we were in the lobby. The rooms are clean and mostly well-stocked, however, the shower gel bottle completely empty. The floors in this hotel are thin and we could hear the person above us walking around. I'm not a fan of the Home2 Suites breakfast options and this is the first Hilton property that a tip jar was left out for the breakfast staff. This is an average hotel and I'd probably skip it should I return to the area.

Rooms were very roomy and comfortable. Housekeeping alot to be desired. Bathroom floor was dirty and dusty. Was told housekeeping was every other day. Well we did not have service. Did speak with the front desk about not having service. The front desk gal did do some service such as empty trash, replenish towels. Much to my surprise no one wore name tags or some sort of uniform. Breakfast was ok. Same items every morning. Not much variety.

Our room on fourth floor was very clean which is the most important thing for my hotel stays. The hotel is connected to a water park my kids loved which offers a discount to hotel guests. Remember to bring a towel from home. The breakfast was a bit of a mess. The first morning the options were limited and the attendants couldn't keep up with the flow of guests. We waited about twenty minutes. The second morning the line was so long we gave up and got breakfast elsewhere. Perhaps offer precooked waffles as that appeared to take the longest? The price of the rooms are very high during tourist season so it was a disappointment to not enjoy the included breakfast. Rapid City doesn't have much going for it. If you're there for the black hills. Stay in the black hills.

This was our third and last stay here. We still like the accommodations, but the staff just couldn't have been less helpful. When we asked for extra towels or soap, it wasn't delivered, when we came down to the front desk to request them in person, they acted like it was just SO inconvenient for them to grab some towels for us. Breakfast started at 7:00am, and one morning we asked if we could grab some food at (literally) 6:55 because we had a 1-hour drive to a 8:00am activity, and all the food was out. They were discussing among themselves, discussing with management... it was like we asked if we could keep a horse in our room. By the time they got done discussing, breakfast was open. Truly bizarre. We'll try out one of the other hotels connected to WaTiki.

Our room, especially the bathroom, was filthy. Other people's hair and multiple other people's hair were all over the bathroom and shower. I am glad I brought sanitary wipes with me so we could shower. The kitchen cabinets had not been cleaned either. They were out of hand soap. They couldn't even provide us with a bar of soap to wash our hands. This location does not live up to the "Hilton Clean" guarantee. I did message the hotel with my concerns on the app with no response.

I have been a loyal Hiltons Honor member for many years and this was the worst experience I have ever had. The coffee pot in the room wasn’t working. When I let the front desk know I needed a new one. The front desk staff acted as if I was bothering them. Once I was handed the new machine and started to walk up stairs, we could hear the staff talking badly about us. The room was so dirty. There was short black hair in the bathroom. The counters had black marks all over them. The pocket door was absolutely disgusting. Not to mention the blanket on one of the beds had not been changed from the last stay. It had the same black stuff as the countertop on it. When I tried to speak to the front desk staff I was told well sorry I don’t deal with housekeeping. I was contacted via text when they wanted me to rate our stay. When I gave them a low rating they said they would have management reach out and still nothing from them. I have never in all of my years of travel been placed in such a dirty room or had valid concerns and problems handled so poorly! Never again will we stay here !!

We stayed for 4 nights in this hotel during our family vacation. The rooms are beautifully set up. Breakfast was lacking every morning and housekeeping needed some help as well. When asked to speak with a manager no one ever contacted us. Dishes were dirty in the dishwasher upon check in. Housekeeping was FaceTiming someone while working. Eggs and syrup were never restocked… at 8 am.Nearby activities: Good location for various sites

I’ve stayed here serveral times over the last year and a half. Overall it’s not bad but I’m fairly certain almost every time I’ve stayed the shower gel has been empty when I’ve went to use the shower and I have to go ask the front desk for more. Twice including my last stay there was gobs of hair on the shower wall from the previous occupants that had not been cleaned off. My last visit the check in process was less than enjoyable, not sure if the person at the front desk was having a bad day or what.

Was at this location for an extended stay with my family on vacation. I enjoyed the location and the room. My family was very comfortable staying here with lots of space to run and feel like we were at home. IMHO a few things I feel could have had some attention. The room was only lacking some maintenance on the under table that slid under the desk, the screws were loose on the legs making it unstable.Maintenance crews were outside my window all week tinkering with items which I felt made it a bit un easy to feel any privacy. The breakfast I felt was repetitive and for the price of the room and stay could have been changed up every other day.Other then that really no complaints.Rooms: Great rooms nice and clean and secure.Nearby activities: Pool, food, not far from attractions.Safety: All card entry doorsWalkability: Water park only a 5 min walk from lobbyFood & drinks: Hotel breakfast was hot and ready but repetitive. Hard cooked eggs, Jimmy Dean pancake sausage sticks, pre cooked burritos and sausage.

I’ve been loyal to Hilton my entire life, and will NEVER stay with any hilton again because of my experience with this location. The worst customer service and management I have ever dealt with. We were planning a large family reunion here and booked 5 rooms to accommodate the whole family. The week before the reunion, my brother passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. We were devastated and somehow my mother still remembered to cancel the reservation since we had free cancellations. She got the email confirmation that the 5 rooms were cancelled. She double checked the app and she had NO reservations. All 5 rooms were cancelled. Come check-in day, literally the day of my brothers funeral, the rapid city Home 2 Suites charged her credit card thousands of dollars for ten rooms!!!!! She called immediately. They checked their system, it said they showed that the 5 rooms were cancelled, but somehow their hotel had booked my mom for 10 more rooms after cancelling the 5 rooms. My mom was grieving her son and crying and the two people she spoke to on the phone were horrible and rude and refused to refund anything. They even charged an additional fee later that day for a “late night check in fee” even though the reservations were cancelled and we never went to the hotel. She called about the additional fee, and the rude woman on the phone said “my manager said we have a right to charge you that fee and to go ahead a run your card for it, so I did.” They were merciless and rude and horrible and greedy. We filed a complaint with corporate Hilton, who investigated and admitted it was a glitch in their system that created an extra reservation for 10 rooms when we cancelled the original 5 rooms. Hilton was able to refund part of it but said the remaining $1,000+ that was charged directly by the management at the rapid city location could only be refunded by them, and they have still refused. They do not care that it was their mistake. They do not care that we were dealing with this while we grieved the loss of our brother/son. They wanted their money and they kept it. These people are horrible, awful, greedy. Please please please take your business elsewhere. This was the most shameful business practice I have ever seen.

This is our hotel of choice for the Sturgis Bike Rally. Super biker and trailer friendly if needed. They also setup a complementary bike wash station and was always well stocked with soap sponges and clean rags. Plenty of parking, outdoor fireplace, outdoor BBQ grills, grab and go breakfast every morning. Clean rooms and friendly staff. In our opinion great location for bike week. Definitely will be back next year.

Sadly, this was not a Hilton brand quality experience. The room was not clean (mold build up throughout the shower and sink edges), hair in the sink and shower, toilet was not clean and the bowl was in need of a deep clean, counters were not wiped down, pillows were lumpy as if cotton balls were inside, no pillow cases for spare pillows, cigarette smell in room, and WiFi kept disconnecting. We purchased cleaning supplies at target and cleaned our room.We were not greeted when we arrived. The young lady sat on a stool and processed our check in without talking or looking up at us. Check out clerk was not any better. We told him our concerns were never addressed during our stay. He simply replied, he never sees housekeeping and is gone before they arrive.ONLY positive was the free breakfast area was clean and staff was friendly.

While we had a great time enjoying the water park our room stay was a bit different. We had ants in our room the entire time. When we arrived on Sunday, we noticed a couple ants while getting changed to head to the water park right away. Just assumed it was just a couple so went and swam. Got back and there were tons of ants. We went and talked to front desk and they said they would send maintenance over but didn't know how long it'd be because there was only one maintenance guy for all 4 hotels. After waiting half hour for him to come, we ran and got bug spray at Target to spray them. The maintenance guy finally showed up about an hour later with bug spray. He sprayed one of the walls we hadn't sprayed because we didn't think the two sprays should be mixed. The guy mentioned something about ant baits he could put out but he never came back with them. We asked if they had had problems with ants in there before and he goes well yeah, you're on the first floor and close by the outside door. The front desk said they had no other rooms to move us to but did say they would give us a discount. We woke up the next morning still with ants. Went and talked to the front desk and they told us they could give us a discount on our stay. We had to spray our bug spray multiple times a day so our room constantly smelled like bug spray. We had friends staying in room 121 RIGHT BY the outside door and they had no ants. We got our invoice the morning we were checking out and didn’t see a discount. We talked to the front desk and they said they could only put it in the day it was reported….considering we did complain Sunday night and Monday morning but then continued to spray bug spray because we had no other options. We got told we had to email the manager because the front desk couldn’t do anything else. We emailed him and haven’t heard anything back from him - going on day 2! These pictures were taken the day we left. Should’ve documented the whole time because it was disgusting.

The hotel looked nice with large rooms but was clearly under-staffed. I consider it great value for the price. The breakfast was decent, not high-quality, but totally fine for kids who like carbs and parents who need something to hold them over until lunch. It's nice that it's connected to the water park. I would have loved a place like this when I was a kid.

At first I was very impressed with how clean everything was and how the lobby always smelled so wonderful when walking in. There are a few reasons for my rating. First off, unless you request for your room to be cleaned 24 hours in advance, no one checks on you. When we got to the room, the hand soap was empty; no biggie. I let the front desk know and we got a new one. Although we brought our own toiletries, the bottles in the shower were empty too. I feel that when cleaning the room before another family stays there, these are little things that should be checked. The breakfast was okay but because the lobby is full during breakfast hours and very busy, the breakfast area was very messy and it was hard to find allergy friendly options with all the cross contamination. The biggest reason for my review and the reason I will never stay here again is that tonight was my families last night here and our toilet randomly started overflowing so I called the front desk and asked the guy that answered for a plunger or some help and he put me on hold and told me he couldn’t find one. I asked what next steps would be and he said I would need to wait until the morning so he can put in an order for it. (I understand needing a work order but this is a necessity) I told him this was our last night and we won’t be here to wait for a work order. He responded “I can check another housekeeping closet but if I can’t find one, I can’t find one.” So he knocks on the door and hands us a plunger that’s broken and the bag it is in has feces all over it. So now we don’t have a working toilet for tonight or tomorrow morning and this should never be case. Please do better, no one should have to go from the fourth floor to the elevator to the lobby to use the bathroom and back up again at 3:30am.

Really comfortable, affordable hotel in rapid city. The staff was friendly and rooms were very clean and spacious! The breakfast was overall pretty good; however the coffee was quite weak. The water park is next door and very affordable. There are not a ton of restaurants around unless you want fast food
