What a great place to visit in Walterboro, SC! Beautiful artwork in every type of media imaginable. Excellent displays and information on individual artists. Support of local artists is admirable. Knowledgeable and friendly staff members were more than willing to introduce us to the center and tell us about the artists and their crafts. Highly recommend a visit here!

The SC Artisan's Center had beautiful, local art. There were many things other than stained glass also. I loved the nativity and fireplace cover. The building is quaint. I had to be careful bringing my kids inside.

It was an amazing experience visiting this place. I was visiting from New York and the place was great, filled with arts of all mediums from over 200 local South Carolina artists and artisans. Got some beautiful presents for my family here! Do yourself a favor, if you love art, the is the place to stop on your travels!

I would have given this five stars, if we'd been greeted a tad more cordially! My friend had been here before, & wanting to find a specific type gift, traveling from a FL wedding, back home to TN, we slid in here by the seat of our pants, which was probably rude of us.However, she thought enough of the different artisan's works, to show me the place, and I do want to come back, for a longer visit. The lady who told us, "We close in a few minutes, so you'll have to look quick, and .... will be with you, when she gets out of the restroom!" then ran out the door, isn't a very good ambassador, in my opinion...Her tone of voice, said more than her spoken words, though. We will be back, and I hope she'd just had a bad day, and we were the only 2 who got the sour grapes. The art is phenomenal, prices competitive to works in our area and the center is laid out well. I understand the building is a step up, and it's nice to see the quality and quantity of art you have!

Lovely place filled with lots of arts and crafts. Building seems larger on the inside than it does from outside. They didn't overfill the building with to many pieces so you could take your time to look at pieces and not be overwhelmed. Driveway was a bit difficult too see. We drove by and had to turn around. Not a big thing but be alert. They're a crafts none profit and use a jury selection process to police artists to exhibit. It shows. Take what ever time you need to get here and enjoy seeing all the art work.

A hidden Gem! We discovered this place by accident when we came to Walterboro. All of the crafts are made in SC!We found Handmade stained glass, pottery, paintings by local artists, hand carved wooden items, to name a few. The quality of the items is what you would find at a Craft Guild.

Wonderful cross section of South Carolina art.Lovely place to visit. All types of art and handmade products...at all levels of prices. Parking and restrooms on site.Even better, visit during a special event, when artists and makers are there to chat with, or to place a special order. Some surprising art. My favorite was Mr. Wood (great name!). He meticulously CARVES wooden bowls to look like fine colorful woven baskets. They are amazing and must take forever to make. He produces the bowl, carves the basket and hand paints it in unique, designs, some with a western look.Highly recommend a stop. Maybe for gifts...or to treat yourself or home!

Loved this place. Definitely recommended for anyone traveling through the area. Wonderful works of art from South Carolina artists. The woman working the shop was very friendly. I bought a aluminum filled ant colony mounted on brass and wood. Would visit again.

What an unexpectedly WONDERFUL stop on my drive from Savannah to Asheville!Make the short detour - 100% worth it! Absolutely Filled with beautiful and affordable local craft of high quality. The docent/staff was so knowledgeable about local history and a pleasure to interact with. As an Art and History nerd, I was charmed and surprised by this little gem in SC.

Very nice shop with a wide range of art for sale from across South Carolina. From paintings of dogs, to pottery, glassware, weaved baskets, handmade knives and photography, you'll find something for every taste. Staff is very welcoming, plenty of parking, and reasonable prices. It's a nice break from the highway.

On the way from Florida to South Carolina, I saw the bulletin board advertising the South Carolina artisans center. We decided to take a break and look around. It was definitely worth the stop. The artwork was lovely the displays were well orchestrated The center flowed like a good small museum. And to top it off, the staff was very friendly and helpful.

I enjoy visiting art galleries. This one didn't disappoint. Amazing display of local low country, mixed media art. Paintings, glass, wood, fabric and even basket weaving. The biggest wow was the beautiful hand made canoe ($16,000) and oars ($1,600). Just amazing workmanship displayed every where you look. Worth the trip off the 4 lane.

The store is in a beautiful southern style home and the artwork is arranged throughout the rooms. The ladies who work there, Gilda, Terry, Kristin, and Pam were very sweet and helpful. They all knew the artists and had extensive knowledge of their pieces. It is a definite revisit! The only downside is the entrance to the building, because it was a home at one time you actually turn into a driveway so it is a little tricky to find.

The SCAC is laid out beautifully and has something for everyone. Prices are accessible as well truly making art something everyone can own. They do a great job supporting their artists and being involved in the community.

Quaint little place! My sister and I stopped here on the way home from Hilton Head. We found some wonderful pieces for someone's collection, whether it be paintings, jewelry, or pottery. It's worth the stop.

Some great arts and crafts, but my word they need to find friendlier people to run the place. We gave it a brief visit on Sat, Aug 1st. As we walked up to the door with masks on, she poked her head out and said, "You have to wear a mask and it has to cover your nose." Then closed the door. When we walked inside, she was on the phone loudly complaining to the person on the other end that people were coming in the shop. She said normally they were not busy, but for some reason people were driving over from I-95 to see the wares. Perhaps she is unaware of the big bill boards advertising the place? Or the brown state signs bragging about SC artisans?Isn't that the point of the place? Don't the artists want to be recognized and sell their craft? What I saw during my brief walk about looked very interesting, but the woman's behavior was so uninviting, we all left.

Specializes in artisanal, one-of-a-kind items made by local artists. People that work there are very knowledgeable, welcoming, and are long-time residents of the Lowcountry. Definitely worth a visit.
