Coolers are 25 used, 25 new at DG. I know it goes towards helping the DAR children so I do shop here a couple times a week, but the price increase on some of the tools are going to reduce my shopping to once a month.

Visited Tamassee DAR School the first time this week. So many great buys. Quality products at good prices-- even wedding dresses and evening wear. Much of the jewelry was 1/2 price. One customer told us she and her Mom routinely drive from Spartanburg each month to check the new donations for bargains.

I have always loved thrifting. It's been a fun outing for me and my boys since they were tiny. Our favorite has always been Tamassee DAR. I could let the boys go in there and walk around and know they were safe.. Everyone was always so polite to them... until today. Today a woman took a bracelet from my youngest and treated him like a thief. When I calmly asked her why she took it from him she was rude and did not care one bit. I told her she could have spoke to me and her response was "I'm not getting anyone". If you don't care enough to get the parent then don't care enough to speak to child! This is a THRIFT store. Nothing is valuable. Your only loss is customers. The manager was spoke to as well and I got the "well she's a volunteer".. if you don't want to give great customer service then don't volunteer for it. We will never be back.

The DAR thrift store supports a worthy cause, and the location on Hwy 11, though not convenient to nearby towns, is attractive. The rocking chairs on the front porch are welcoming. The sign says it's also a visitor's center, but I'm not sure how.Inside, the store is divided into sections--books, housewares, clothes, greeting cards (quite a lot of those!), etc.But the general impression of some sections is of an attic chock full of stuff that someone needs to sort, take stock of (and in some cases, dispose of), and curate.A crooked, hand-lettered sign on the front door pointed me to the furniture rooms around the corner. I wandered over, but the two rooms were a jumble--like someone's garage a week before a yard sale--and no sales staff appeared.Overall, prices seemed reasonable. Clothing items, for example, were a dollar. A heavy small pot was $3. Nice, roomy bathrooms.

Tamassee DAR ( Daughters After the Revolution) School and Visitors center is a good place to find deals on about anything you can think of used especially since there's not any kind of stores around the area except a gas station and a Mexican restaurant. It's also a good place to donate good items that you no longer have any use for. The money goes to help support the old school and housing.

This used to be the absolute BEST place! Unfortunately, prices have gotten shockingly high. Things that are broken - even - are priced high. They are placing eBay or Etsy listings on higher priced items to justify higher priced item. Just because something is LISTED online for a certain price, does not mean that is what its worth is. So strange that thrift stores are using this method. I saw what looked like a Manager or Supervisor digging through the cart of newly priced but not stocked items. They picked up an item, and said out loud,"This is old. Should be more," then walked away. After the volunteer stocked the item, I picked it up and examined it. It was old, but it was BROKEN and in very poor condition. Again, just because something is old doesn't mean it is worth a lot of money. They are still very fair and quality is good on clothes. Mostly women's clothes. And their dressing rooms are beautiful. They also have great Sales regularly. Occasionally, you'll find some great furniture for a great bargain. And their magazine selection is the best. So....even though the high prices are off putting, will still visit for the other reasons.Edit: They have steadily been ramping up their "displays," making half of the store not for sale! It's ridiculous.

Do not shop here! Go to Belks, they have the same prices! Insane! $100 for a single green chair.$50 for dog clippers $75 for a freaking purse!!!!! $7 for a t-shirt you can get at the dollar store new! Yet they claim to "help people"

The last 2 times I have been in there, the manager was either directing staff to look up all items online and mark up the donations, or the manager and staff were out in the open searching items online for prices. Unsurprisingly, the prices of everything from chatzskis to clothes to books have rocketed in the last couple months. No one shops at thrift stores to pay online prices...

It's hit or miss here. As a plus-size gal, the selection is lacking, but they can hardly help that as a donation store. That being said, i find weird old things there enough that I check them out at least a few times a year. Also, it's for a good cause and because it's not a chain (I'm looking at you Goodwill) you know the proceeds go where they need to.

Don't waste your time, money, or energy to even bother to take donations to this place... I took a dining room set to donate and some woman was EXTREMELY rude.... Oh this chair has a bad place on leg... We can't sell it so you need to take it back with you... I had to take two chair's back with me... I will never buy... Donate... Anything to this place ever again... They are not appreciative of nothing...

If I could give this place 0 stars I would! They are doing nothing but price gouging!!! $40 for. Used pot! $250 for a used couch. Absolutely ridiculous! Since the woman with short hair retired, the place has go to hell! Stay far away.
