All they tell you is lies to sell you product. I was told when my dog was a puppy that if I bought her collar from there that if she out grew it they would replace it and I just pay the difference, Manigment needs to check they staff. Can’t be giving out false information just to make a sale. I will never shop here again

Great experience as always. I was with my mom who was looking for a fish tank. She chose a 29 gallon and we found a worker that was happy to assist us with lifting the tank. The cashier was very cheerful and smiling. The store was well stocked and an overall positive shopping experience.

I went into Petco to buy some fish and some frogs. I’m spending my own money that I work for and I should be able to buy what I want. My problem is why would an associate not sell me what I want I’ve been Keeping an aquarium for over 20 years I know what I’m doing. But for and employee associate to try and stop me from buying want I want is just ridiculous I would never step foot again in this Petco in Sumter, South Carolina. Something need to be done with the employees here. I thought the store was there to make money not to convince people not to buy stuff.

Friendly and helpful! Everyone I interacted with was willing to stop and ask me if I needed help and even helped me when I finally did need help. They were not sure what I was asking about at first, (a type of treat that always has a different name) but they looked until we found it.

1/26/24I use to love physically shopping at Petco but the plastic bag charge and how it is presented turns me off and affects my satisfaction levels. I understand being sustainable. However, I really think that the 10 cent/bag and reasoning should be placed on the FRONT door as you enter so shoppers can make an informed decision BEFORE entering the store. It is REALLY annoying to shop and buy things that require having a bag and then be pressed to buy one unexpectedly. I would rather know this information BEFORE going into the store so I can get one from my vehicle to bring inside or mentally prepare myself to buy one. My frustration stems from I mostly shop online and rarely go into the store so not knowing this change UNTIL I'M CHECKING OUT is very FRUSTRATING!

Kimberly always does such an amazing job with my pups!!!! 10 out of 10 highly recommend!! I refuse to take my babies anywhere else for all their grooming needs 🤩

I used the grooming services. I wanted a haircut for my dog. She explained to me that her hair would not grow back correctly. Thank you for being honest and not just taking my money because that's what I asked for. Instead she got a shampoo and nails trimmed.

Take my advice, do NOT trust Lynnanne with grooming your fur baby!!! She did a HORRIBLE job & did NOT listen to what I specifically asked. The work she did on my maltipoo Sonic looks choppy and she completely did what she wanted rather than what I asked for! I repeat, do NOT go to Lynnanne for grooming!!! Kelly however was AMAZING on my other fur baby Sophie & I will be returning for her grooming services ONLY! Kelly did exactly what I asked & I am pleased with her work.

This place has gone down hill tremendously. Myself and my boyfriend have gone into the store to purchase fish and other things 3 different times on different days and each day we were ignored and ended leaving the store to drive to PetSmart in Columbia. We have asked for assistance each time (because nobody is ever in the fish section) and was told someone would be over and nobody ever shows up. When one of us would ask an associate on the floor for help they will tell us to give them a moment and never show. This last instance my boyfriend was told by 2 employees someone would be over. Each employee we asked were not assisting customers. Saw an employee stocking and went to approach him to ask after waiting a while and he walked away to the register before we could even reach him. I will just continue to go to Columbia or Florence for PetSmart where I NEVER have to track an employee down for help because it's clear that the employees here at this Petco DO NOT CARE ABOUT CUSTOMER SERVICE.

We had walked in at 6:59, not knowing that Sunday’s the store closed at 7 instead of 8, and the automatic doors opened. A gentleman had explained that on Sundays they closed early but one of the other employees complained saying “it’s 7 o’clock people.” As we were headed out. We found it to be a rude comment and would just like to bring it to attention, I work in customer service, and I would never say something like that in front of a customer…

Only one cashier and he was chatting with a customer who was extremely indecisive about a product they could have discussed off the cashier. Long line of people waiting for 15 minutes until a worker was kind enough to open another cashier and help customers flow.

Management does not follow company policies. The store is dirty, disgusting and smells like cat urine. Every time I visit this store in Sumter I am disgusted by the foul smells lingering in the air, the whole store smells like ammonia and when I asked to talk to the manager she gave me a rude attitude! Customer service sucks, I noticed she treated her employees with disrespectfulness also. I avoid this store at all costs!

Store is not well staffed. No help on the sales floor. I was extremely disappointed with the cat supplies. "Cat section " is located way in the back and not well marked. The majority of the collars and harnesses over size XS were out of stock. Insufficient selection of toys are lackluster and cheaply made. The only reason I gave 3 stars is because the young man who greeted me was stuck at the register with no help but he properly directed me to the isle I needed. The cashiers were very sweet and helpful once I was ready to check out. I'll likely not go back.

The store was not very well stocked, and being a late Sunday afternoon the few employees I did see seemed to have something else on their agenda other than interacting with customers or stocking or facing shelves. Not one employee asked if I needed anything or if everything was okay NO customer interaction. The only employee - customer exchange was when I stepped up to the check out, I was asked if I was ready to check out!? Let me think about this, oh yes, thats why I'm standing here. Then after spending near $200.00 I am told if I want bags for my purchase, that will be another $0.10 per bag, Please can somebody please help me understand this, because I surly do not understand it. I was told that it was a service provided by the store to its customers at a small fee, Please someone please help me understand this,

Today me and my mom where going to get a fish because I had a fish for 12 years and he is lonely by himself so we to go get one and all employees we had ask for help they said we don’t work here or sorry I can’t and they are literally not busy doing things and we left cus no one will help us . Received the absolute worst service at this petco. These people have accused us of making fraudulent paperwork because the official vet paperwork doesn’t come on a letterhead, in order to get our dogs nails trimmed so it’s done correctly. They were refusing to do our services. Saying loudly “you could’ve went to your car and made that stuff up” stuff meaning, litter information and shot records from a vet for 9 puppies and 4 to 5 different vaccines. Between Ashley (the groomer) & Karen (the supervisor) we were absolutely humiliated in front of people. We Called the breeder to verify the information, and the groomer was heard saying “he told me he was calling the vet and I peeked at his phone and it says “Alicia”, at the time Alicia had the Vet on her line being that it’s her litter. We then asked to speak to a supervisor, the supervisor approached us with hostility, saying “Yeah, uh huh?” , and then when asked “how did you just approach us?” Then she starts to apologize, we asked if she was trained to approach people that way in corporate training ? She says “ma’am, I’m trying to apologize”. The puppy is 3 months old, we then were harassed about a rabies vaccine, which you cannot give a puppy until they are 4 months old. The puppy is even apart of the vital care and pals rewards. Even with the vets office on the phone verifying the paperwork, they refused our service. After today, I’m feeling like we have been accused of stealing our dog and we were basically treated as such. I will be calling corporate. If you look a certain type of way with a certain type of dog, you will be treated a certain type of way. We didn’t look like the typical poodle owner. We are highly disgusted and disappointed be with the service we received here.Edit: Since this review has posted they have canceled both of my dogs grooming appointments which were made a month ago at their last grooming.

I love Sumter Petco and their groomers and I never ever take the time out to write a bad review. But the person working in aquatics today was unbelievably rude. I’ve worked in customer service for years so I understand difficult customers. I simply asked the person to help me find a product and a recommendation for my broken lid to my fish tank. They made me feel less than and ignorant. If I were to see them working aquatics and needed help again, I would simply turn around.

Called to see if they had anything for pink eye in dogs Karen answered and told me I had to go to the vet they don't sell anything to help with that I told her it said online they had it an again she told me I needed to go to the vet can't get an app for a week at the vet so I went to the store found pink eye gel and showed Karen she asked if I was the person that called when I said yes she told me I need to go to the vet and walked off. I can't get an app for a week so instead of providing help she would rather my dog suffer.

They gave me the runaround about why my grooming service bill was almost doubled from the previous service I had just a few months prior.They said it was due to my dogs age. My dog was the same age as the first two services he had there and they had never charged me before or even mentioned it.They were charging it as a “vip” treatment even though on the website the VIP treatment described something entirely different and when I asked them to remove the charge they refused.Last week when I called and asked about rabies vaccinations they told me they were available every other Saturday but not the upcoming Saturday. I walk in for something unrelated and sure enough the Vet was there administering rabies vaccines.All in all they are ok but I’d rather spend my money somewhere it seems appreciated.
