This place was so sketchy. No signs or windows. When you walk in, you are immediately boxed in by tables and plexiglass. There is no way to look around the “store.” It smelled horrific and the lighting was super dim. I wish I had been forewarned, so I am hoping to save others from the unpleasant experience.

Nice ppl with good animals, I got my 2 dream snakes from them, blood Pythons, and they have been with me for almost a yr now and both are very good mannered now, one was when I got it, but the larger chrome head looking one was very easily upset and striked at everything non stop but with a lil work and time it began to trust and tolerate me and now I can trust it with bare hands it hasn't tried to bite me not once in almost 9 months so blood pythons will get used to you if you work with them and they are so awesome despite the rumors that they are very aggressive they will become your best friend in time with regular positive gentle handling

Critter Castle was great! They had multiple sizes of my beardie's favorite beetles, and some pig ear treats that my dog went ballistic for. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable about all my pets and what they needed. Their prices are good, and it is always great to support local business. I went to see reptiles but all I saw was the 2 people working there. They do not let you 10 feet into the building. How can you buy an animal without seeing it? Ridiculous. I will never go back and I will make sure everyone I know does not give these people any business. Are they hiding dead, unhealthy animals and don't want you to know? And to top it all off, the 10 feet you are allowed in smells horrible.

The shop is owned by a husband & wife. We only met the wife who seemed very knowledgeable. She says her husband does the technical stuff, she cares for the animals.We purchased about $100 worth of goods for our young python. And she answered a lot of questions intelligently.They had the store on lock down for covid which saddens me because i don’t agree with lock downs. At least she didn’t require a mask. All store browsing is limited to just inside the front door.Prices are average retail. Cleanliness is hard to detail because you aren’t allowed very far into the store.

Got some super worms for my Leopard Gecko and the price was AMAZING!!! Way better than stores like petco, where half are dead before you even buy them! My gecko loved the worms!!! The staff also breed their own animals including isopods!!!! A great store for reptiles and invertebrates!!!

Snakes and other reptiles seem to be in impeccable condition, I bought my own snake from here and he is a very very good snake and got him in great health. They have frozen and live mice ranging in sizes from pinkies to adult rats as well as crickets, meal worms, and superworms I believe. Spiders, Lizards, Geckos, Snakes, and occasionally birds are sold here as far as I know. The two owners are so very nice and great at what they do. I could not recommend any "exotic" pet store more in or around spartanburg. Not sure if they sell much or any dog or cat supplies but definitely the place for reptiles and spiders. Very good prices as well!

The staff I encountered was not only friendly, but very helpful as well. I was there to purchase worms for baby snakes (We had no idea my daughter's snake was pregnant when we brought her home, so we were unprepared for babies... to be clear, the snake wasn't purchased there). He gave me great genuine advice and didn't pretend to have all of the answers to my questions. He even offered suggestions as to who may be able to advise me, should have more questions or if his advice for feeding didn't work (it did). He went above and beyond and was generous with his time. My fiancé, daughter, and I will be choosing our next pet from Critter Castle. I cannot wait! This is not a particularly large store, but the selection is nice and the critters they have are wonderful. The lovely critters I saw ALL looked VERY healthy. I definitely recommend Critter Castle!

The owner seemed nice but was really trying to rush me out the store, I had questions for her and wanted to see what reptiles she did have in stock and she said if we weren’t going to purchase one then she can’t show us. How are we going to purchase something we haven’t seen yet? I purchased crickets, mills worms and wax worms from her and that’ll be the first and last time. I rated 2 stars bc they have just about everything you need for your reptile but her vibe was unwelcoming.

Very highly recommended this place for reptile needs! The couple that owns the shop are always very friendly, we visit weekly for bearded dragon food and they are always in stock and very healthy! (Dubia roaches, crickets and meal worms)We found this place after several times going to the big name stores that were always out of what we needed OR we'd end up with dead crickets after a day or 2. As an example Critter Castle crickets are ALL still alive after a week of keeping them for our bearded dragons (which is big since they refuse anything dead)

I don't know how to properly critique this place given I was only allowed in maybe a foot or two. I was greeted with "If there is something you want to see just say or point to it and we'll bring it to you. I had one bad experience at a pet store already once that day, wasn't ready for a second one. Not sure what system they have going on there. Reminds me of an old sundry store with some reptile products.

I have 5 ball pythons and this is by far my favorite place to deal with for food and supplies. I travel from Charlotte to Anderson regularly and if there is anyone better I haven't found them yet! Plus they have the best selection and variety of ball pythons around!
