The food is so good! Always has been, think it always will be! One of my favorite spots from med school and my wife went to visit again for old times sake and it did not disappoint! I got the special from the board that day (corned beef Cuban) and highly suggest they make it a regular menu item it was SO GOOD! If you go and it’s an option for you, get it! Love that they use locally grown produce from farmers in the area. Certainly hope they stick around, because we’ll definitely be back!

My favs are the quiche, chicken salad croissants and different teas. But all food is good. Friendly staff, good food, quick service. Dining inside and out. They close at 3. We made the mistake of going at 2:30 and they didn't seem very happy about it. I can't imagine working in customer service and not smiling back at customers that were smiling at me. But no matter what we did, the guy taking our order wouldn't smile.Music stops and vacuums start at 3 sharp. My recommendation is not to go at all if you can't be there by 2pm.

I definitely want to support this place. I know what a struggle they must have in today's economic climate with rising costs particularly affecting the restaurant industry.I regret to give anything higher than 3 stars at this point. The food was just.... mediocre. I bought a sandwich for $11 which I assumed would be so hearty it would feed 2 people. But upon getting it home, it was just a regular sized sandwich with not much meat on it at all. It needed at least twice as much meat. Esp. for that price.I tried the bread pudding. It was not nearly moist enough. It felt dry, and nothing about it was redeeming. I couldn't eat more than a few bites of it.I will likely return sometime soon, and I hope to find a better experience so I can raise my review. With all the places offering sandwiches these days, you really have to be firing on all cylinders to stand out from the crowd. I'm rooting for this place to do it. The service was definitely friendly and competent.

Lunch goes until 5pm and the lunch menu does not have as much as the dinner menu. The place is dark and the tables are sticky. Do not plan your meal from the website because it is not accurate. When I ask about a soup that was on the website, the cook was firm to the waitress about they do not serve that no more. The tomato basil soup was very grainy and hard to stomach, but the Cuban was pretty good.

In the corner of Converse Corners of E. Main Street, you will find an excellent sandwich shop. My wife and I visited there for the first time on a recommendation. The sandwich selection varies from the in-house creations to the requisite choices at any deli worth its salt. We made a selection from both categories and shared. In the picture below you will see the War Eagle that was in the process of consumption and next to it the classic Reuben. While the War Eagle was interesting and flavorful, the Reuben was on point and will be on the reorder list. You order at the counter and are presented with the ubiquitous digital request for a gratuity prior to service. Chips and a pickle accompany the sandwich. Pricing, I find, is a bit above market, but the food is excellent, and the staff is personable.

It has been a while since I last visited. Converse Deli used to be one of my favorite stops while in Spartanburg. Unfortunately, it seems they are struggling to keep up with their once golden reputation. The decor is severely outdated with leaks and missing ceiling tiles being the first thing noticed. The carpet was in need of replacement and the seating reminiscent of a 90's era diner. The staff were audibly perturbed with each other regarding some errors with orders and the banter was audible to the entire establishment. The menu had items that the restaurant no longer offers. The work area was stacked and cluttered insomuch that food could not be handed through the window for pickup. Additionally, my very simple order was made after someone who came in after me received multiple items. Despite all this, the food was solid and the staff very friendly to me personally. However, the lacking ambience coupled with lowered professionalism from it's team deters me from rushing back any time soon.

Love the food, the pimiento cheese with any other combination adds tremendous flavor. The tea is definitely southern style sweet tea. Service is friendly, focused on taking care of the customer.

Great place for a lunch. They have a good selection of wine and beer as well. I've never had a problem coming here. They're only downside is it's a very limited menu.

I’m all for supporting local so instead of Jasons deli I came here. For $10.50 I got a small mediocre sandwich withnothing to redeem it and certainly nothing to justify the price. Pretty disappointing and a pretty nothing special sandwich.

I used to come here and have good sandwiches. This past time was a disappointment. I ordered the French dip as usual, but this time received a sandwich with one, maybe two small pieces of roast beef, one onion sliver and some watered-down Au jus. For $11:50!!! I'd rather give my money to local businesses but you can do better at Jersey Mike's.

Temp inside is not too cold and not too hot. Great selection of sandwiches that break the mold on a regular deli selection.

The carpeting in this place is disgusting, not only smelly, but my shoes got stuck to it. The $9.50 sandwich was alright. Not planning on going back.

Service was incredible!! Food was incredible. I had the tomato basil soup and smoked pimento cheese sandwich and 3 hours later I am still full. I did not even finish the soup or eat my chips as I was that full! Can't wait to come back and try other items!!!

Food was great! One of the best French Dips I have had in a while!! The guy who took our order was very nice and accommodating. The lady who brought us our food was asked which sandwich was which bc two looked the same and she answered very condescendingly which spoiled my first time experience there with family. I would have rated 5 stars if her attitude had been better.

Similar to other reviews…. I love chef salads and wanted to give this local shop a try! Website menu had $13 as price of the salad, went to pick up order and it was $15. I’m thinking for $15 this salad is about to be the best ever because I’ve had so many elsewhere for less than that price (Groucho’s, Copper River, Clock, Mellow Mushroom, etc). Was highly disappointed to see only two slices of tomato, three slices of cucumber, hardly any meat or cheese. Was 95% lettuce. I don’t mind paying $15 for a salad but it needs to be much more hearty than this one from Converse Deli. I hate to leave a negative review but I had to. Wouldn’t go back, especially given several similar reviews to my experience. Sorry.

Used to love this place. But lately the chicken salad has not been good. It has big Chuck's and very dry.. missing some spices that they used to put in it. They are still great at getting your order right and ready fast. Just need to go back to making the chicken salad the way they used too.

Working near Converse Deli, I go at least once a week and I have never been disappointed. To begin, there is plenty of seating, both inside the restaurant and outside. The wait staff is very prompt, polite, and helpful, quickly getting your order and willing to offer suggestions if you have trouble choosing from their wide variety of sandwiches and salads. The quality of the food is fantastic. I try to get a different sandwich most visits and every one that I have tried thus far has been amazing. The sandwiches run about $8, and are totally worth it. Highly recommended if you're in the area and want a really good but quick meal.

Needs to update prices on website.A sandwich is $9.50 on website, but $11 when we got to the store- wasn’t no worth $11 & the $3 pasta salad was in a container other restaurants put dressings in 🙃 WAY overpriced for the amount of food you get.Food is ok - but not good enough for a $15 lunch. For 4 people, it cost over $60 😅 when we’re expecting (because of the websites prices) it would be about $10 a piece. Will not be back 😊

I've been coming to Converse Deli for 3 years now and have never been disappointed. I love the quality of the food as well as the service. Their sandwich options span from the traditional to the "I gotta try that!" This place is a great example of "do one thing and do it really well."

Today, I ordered the “Pilgrim” roasted turkey with Brie and cranberry cream cheese. Usually I order the Reuben, my FAVORITE. The turkey sandwich was nice for a change. What made it even better was the DELICIOUS potato salad spiced with cayenne pepper. Wow! Perky! Thank you for such a nice place to eat healthy food. DOG🐶

Although the food was very good, service is mediocre & the ambience appears as it did 15 years ago. Worn out tables, chairs & carpets... so drab & dreary

The Californian was the best sandwich I’ve had in a lonnng time. So fresh and the hoagie bun was toasted perfectly. The crunch of the slaw was great I believe mine had pepper Jack cheese instead of Muenster but it was delicious!

I was visiting on business. I got the Pilgrim Sandwich. It was a huge portion and delicious. Service was fast and pleasant. I would return. They also had daily specials in addition to menu like quiche and Po Boys.

Food is always amazing and the service is great! Staff is always friendly and some have remembered our names and orders (it helps that we go there almost every weekend). Tomato basil soup is delicious same for the pimento cheese.

Ordered a salad without croutons because I have celiac disease and they put croutons on it anyways. Was really disappointed to have spent $15 on a plate of spinach with three cucumber slices and a couple pineapple thrown on top. I will not be going back.

Uniqueness and taste are so worth it at this other little gem; from their flavorful sandwiches and wraps; to their out of this world bread pudding ... WOW ... Don't miss a chance to try some of my favorite sandwiches like the Hippy Dippy or wrap - The War Eagle .... An absolute must

Food was okay. It had outdoor seating so I could take my pet.It did not meet my dietary requirement of no peppers or pepper extract in any of the food. I had a cobb salad and I asked if the chicken had anything on it. I was told no and they checked with three different people in the kitchen. But it must have had something on it because I still had a reaction.
