The staff is friendly and helpful, and they know their stuff. They can help you pick out the right fishing rod, the right tent, or the right ammo for your firearm. They also have a great selection of sports and recreation products, from golf clubs to basketballs to bikes. You can even get your hunting and fishing licenses here, and they'll spool your line and bore-sight your scope for free!But what I love most about Academy is the atmosphere. It's like a family reunion every time I walk in. I see familiar faces, and I make new friends. We swap stories, jokes, and tips. We sing along to the country music playing on the speakers. We salute the stars and stripes flying high above the store. Nice store with a giant selection. Plenty of staff to help but not very friendly or motivated. Place feels like a giant warehouse vs a big, friendly place to get needed equipment. Also, the concrete at the entrance needs cleaning, and something to remove the odor in the entrance area. Sprucing up a bit and paying staff more to secure friendlier faces would go a long way.

Never use the “Buy Online, Pickup in Store” feature. I placed an order and waited multiple days for them to one by one cancel each item. I went to the store and found each and every item they claimed to not have. Had to wait in a giant line since management decided to only have three registers on during the busiest season. Then the next day they decided to fulfill ONE item of my online order that was previously cancelled on their end. Since they fulfilled that one item, I had to wait over two weeks to get a refund for the full order. They wouldn’t even refund the unfulfilled portion of the order until after the two weeks. So disappointing and frustrating.

I don't know what has happened to this store in the past few years, but it has became terrible! The bathrooms were absolutely disgusting, there is barely any options for children's shoes, and the customer service was even worse.The foreign lady at customer service was fussing and rude. She refused to let us buy drinks stating that the store was not supposed to have them.After that she refused and raised her voice saying that they no longer offer the Teacher Appreciation discount. I even brought it up on her website and told her that I just used it last week.With her attitude and raising her voice it was hard for me to keep calm with her, something needs to be done with this woman and I will contact corporate until it is.

Hrm….we have another issue where the building looks scary and decrepit on the outside but not so bad on the inside.I was impressed with the ammo they had on hand and all of the sporting gear and camping gear.What didn’t impress me was that I made a call to the store while I was in boiling springs regarding an insulated back pack. The gal who answered the phone was using semi active listening skills, but the moment I asked her if they had the product on hand all politeness disappeared. She informed me that they did indeed only have 3 on hand but they were in back stock and I would have to pay for it online to guarantee that I could pick it up literally in 20 minutes.Well thank goodness I didn’t because I got there and not only didn’t they have the one I had asked about, all they had was a black one and a girlie one. ( this was for my outdoorsy husband)Now it may not seem like a big deal, but it’s the lack of customer service on the front end that kinda killed it for me.I had asked for some help from a floor employee and after hearing my story, bent over backwards to help… even got management involved. They apologized all over the place and even offered to take 10% off for my troubles.

Haven't been to an Academy Sports in a few years. Still high quality and high brand sporting equipment, yet pricey for the right reasons. Like this place and it's great for the right reasons.

Went on a last minute set-up so the shelves were slim but, I got what I came for😁 Check out was surprisingly fast as there were many in line. Check-out staff was courteous & friendly.

Went into store with receipt to return two items that were the wrong size. The lady at the customer service desk instantly had a attitude " go around get inclined for returns" I walked around and ran into the store manager he said go pick out your new items with correct sizes I'll take your bag upto the customer service desk. Same lady that helped me earlier had same attitude. I told her manager left my bag up here. She found it and finally checked me out. This lady was not suited for customer service. Poor customer service.

Good place for most any sporting goods equipment or attire. Prices are reasonable, but make sure price at the counter is the price at check-out, mine was not, so cashier corrected to counter price.

I went Sunday to buy roller blades for my kids. The employee said come back in an hour or so. So I went back about 90 minutes later still no stock on the shelves. He said call back and no one answers any line in the store. They love to take your money but offer no support.

Awesome employees here. The shoe department employee, gentleman, helped out tremendously to assist my son in finding indoor soccer shoes on sale. He saved the day while I took my daughter to the restroom. Thank you, bearded man, sorry I didn't catch his name.

Went to buy a gun safe. Guy behind the counter said he couldn't help me because he couldn't leave the gun counter. He called the manager 3 times to help me but he never came. I decided to leave and look elsewhere and saw the manager sitting down at the sunglass counter talking to the cashier. When I asked him why no one came to help me he told me he didn't have time because he was putting a pedal car display together. Hope he sales the cars that were so important.

Their selection is not very great, tons of items not where they are supposed to be, so you never know the real price of something in the firearm accessories section of the store. They had a good selection of ammo in stock. They have also significantly slimmed down their in store firearm selection since my last visit.

Visiting the store is always a great experience and the associates are helpful and kind. Ordering online for pickup has never been smooth though. I will order something “in-stock” and then shortly after getting notified it’s no longer available. This happened twice.

Do not buy firearms from this place. Go to a small gun store. That's all you need to know. Or you can get denied here and jump through government hoops to straighten out your "rights"

Most of the employees are nice and friendly from I've seen, ammo is cheaper at academy than most other stores. Most of the time they're pretty well stocked on everything I need. Don't like through how you can pay for ammo when you're buying a gun at the gun counter, but if you're not buying a gun and just the ammo they can't do that back there and they'll send you back to the front of the store. I don't mind paying for the ammo at the front since I'll have to go that way to leave. But it would be easier to pay for the ammo in the back especially when it's one or two boxes when the front is crowded and being overworked.

My husband ordered a hunting stand with accessories and 8 bags of deer corn for me to pick up at their curbside pick up spot so it be easier for me to do with our 2 yr old being with me. I get there call the woman she tells me someone will be out with my stuff. I waited in that spot for over 45 min and still no one came out! I walked inside with our daughter and talk to the man at the main desk and gets on his ear piece and asked someone to pull my order cause I guess it wasn't done yet and said he has a upset lady here waiting for it. Then tells me I have to drive to the back of the building to get my stuff since they weren't bringing it up front after I have waited for over 45 min. Get to the back and they just load my stuff and barely say anything other then sorry the girl you called forgot to tell someone I was there!! The customer service there was horrible. I get being busy and getting behind but I waited and then everyone's attitude was like oh well she is just a angry woman. Never have I had such disregard for a mistake that should have never happened!
