One of my dogs ran away due to anxiety from storms. She is microchipped but She was picked up within 30 mins and taken to Jasper Animal Rescue Mission for less than 12 hours before I found her and picked her up. JARM never scanned for her chip, I had to find her post on “Lost paws of the low country” Facebook page. She’s up to date on shots and STILL GOT A NASTY CASE OF KENNEL COUGH. Unfortunately this business is underfunded, under staffed, AND A KILL SHELTER!!!!!!!! DO NOT TAKE FOUND ANIMALS TO THIS SHELTER!!!!!!!!! Now my other dog has it too and I’ve spent the last week cleaning up puke and diarrhea on zero sleep because both dogs are now coughing all night. Thanks Jasper Animal Rescue Mission👎🏽

JARM is awesome. If you have lost a pet, the very 1st thing they do is scan for a microchip. Their staff is very professional and are very dedicated to the animals in their care.

We got two kittens here and they have been wonderful. I appreciate JARM’s social media presence and that they are never afraid to ask for help when they need it. Jasper is a very rural area, and they’re the designated public shelter, so they take in a lot of animals. I know they treat them the best they can and that the staff there really cares about giving all of them a good home, like the one our cats have now.

Let me begin by saying I have NEVER had any interaction with JARM. What I do know is that these small, county run rescues are at a MAJOR disadvantage when it comes to funding. Getting volunteers is another major problem. The number of dogs and cats that arrive there are waaayyyyy more than they can handle. These places do the best they can given the amount of animals that come through their doors. I am a volunteer for a local animal rescue in South Florida and I know how hard it is to run an animal rescue. Maybe people should spay and neuter their pets to try eliminate the overpopulation of animals. Or maybe volunteer 1 -2 days a week to get a first hand look at this heartbreaking problem. Or maybe realize (in some cases) pets are a "lifetime" commitment. Not something you just throw away when they don't want to care for them anymore. Best Regards, David Brown

They're friendly and courteous. Have had many cats, kittens and dogs people have dropped off where we live I always take them to jarm. No hassles with them. I'm glad they're here.

A bad decision ended with my Mom's whole life (her 4 year old chihuahua) being removed from her care. I had to come from FL to pick her up. I was extremely impressed with the care they had provided for this extremely pampered fur baby. Thank you Jasper Animal Rescue for treating Wendy as if she were your own. You'll never know how much your kindness was appreciated at such a difficult time in our family. Please remember to donate to your local shelters; some fur babies are not as lucky as Wendy.

Phone says they close at 4, show up to the shelter, they close at 3 (we showed up at about 2:30). That's the first frustrating thing.There was a women outside tending to the dogs (we saw so many sweet looking dogs we would have loved to interact with). We made eye contact, and I could tell she couldn't hear me so I motioned 'can we come into the gate?' Since there was no sign or anything showing us to come in or where to go. She looked behind me, looked at me again as I motioned again, then went inside like she never saw us.

They don't even deserve the one star. We adopted our dog from here. They told us she was fixed. Well come to find out they lied to us and we ended up spending hundreds of dollars on tests to make sure our dog was okay just to find out that she isnt spayed. They also neglected to tell us about some problems she has. This place is shady and I do not recommend it.

My dog was picked up I called on Monday which they are closed?!?!? When I received my dog on Tuesday not even being there 24hrs she was in a cage that was filled with muddy water no tarp or anything to protect her from the rain the night before!!!!!! When I seen her she was really wet and filthy with dirty mud. I was so angry inside but being the nice lady I am I brought my baby home and bath her. Not impressed with JARM at all they need to change staff and environment very horribly! Never seen my dog like that!

I adopted two older cats trying to have a good heart and give them a good home and they were big cats just yesterday. I was told the cats were dog friendly which they were not. That was a lie. I took them back today hoping for a kitten that can grow up with my dog instead. My poor Husky who is cat friendly was attacked by this big cat badly. He is now very cut up. During the fight to help my dog I also got cut up pretty badly. I brought the cats back because they are not dog friendly. I got an attitude about it when I was lied to about the cats being dog friendly. I feel they will say anything to get rid of there animals. I will not have my 9 year old husky baby getting hurt. I feel like it was a waste of money because of there no refund policy. Maybe they shouldn't lie when there adopting there animals. Just to take peoples money! I am calling tomorrow because I feel they should take responsibility for telling me both cats weredogs friendly. I feel they should give me the chance to adopt a kitten instead. Thanks JARM I hope you do the right thing for me instead of just taking peoples money!!

Best place to get your new pet! I've gotten a dog and an adorable kitten from them and am constantly fostering other amazing love bugs. The staff is helpful and obviously passionate towards helping these homeless animals.

This Rescue is filled with people who truly love Animals! Please don't let the unfortunate freak incident turn you away. If people would get involved more volunteering, and donating money they would be a lot better off. Jasper County needs to more as well!

I would not suggest adopting or doing any business with this "animal rescue" A week ago I adopted my cat Hazel from Petsmart through JARM. When the adoption was finalized we received a folder with all her information (including rabies vac, microchip, spaying/neutering info) I was told it was recommended to get her in to a vet within a week for a check up and possible de-worming. Today I took her into Banfield and was told that not only does she NOT have a rabies vaccination, she wasn't micro-chipped either! I was already upset because both were supposed to be included in the adoption fee and we had papers claiming this had all been taken care of. I decided to call JARM and then proceeded to have the lady argue with me saying she DID have her vaccination done and that her microchip "must have fallen out" I have never heard of an animals microchip falling out and neither has the vet at Banfield. JARM also claims she was spayed, yet the vet couldn't feel an incision on her stomach anywhere, not to mention there is no scar. Seeing as though I adopted her at Petsmart through JARM, I reported this to Petsmart only to find I'm not the first one that's had issues with them. If you're thinking of adopting from this rescue, please be very wary and cautious!

I traveled to several rescue centers looking for another dog. JARM was by far the nicest, cleanest, with the most helpful and knowledgeable staff of the 5 or 6 other shelters I went to in SC. I got my dog Wiggles at JARM and she is just great. She has already become a fine and faithful companion. Thank you JARM! YOU'RE THE BEST!

Very clean facility. Best we've seen in the savannah area. Laid out nice for observation. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Took time to socialize dog with us. Nice assortment of dogs, and adoption process was very easy.

An underfunded shelter in the middle of the South. The staff and volunteers work tirelessly to provide the best care they can for the animals in their care. If you don't like something about the shelter or grounds, donate your time or money to help them make the changes and a difference!

DO NOT ADOPT FROM HERE!!! They are a bunch of liars !!! I was appalled by actions of the animal I adopted from what they told me. Not to mention when they say they will treat your animal's health condition if it worsens they won't because I asked after I already paid the fee and signed that paperwork. This place should be ashamed to call themselves an animal rescue. All they are doing is lying to people to get rid of their animals! You make me sick!

My husband found a stray dog one night and we took her to the local vet the next morning to look for a microchip. Sadly the vet couldn't find one so the sent us to Jasper Animal Rescue Mission and they actually were able to find her chip! Turns out the vet didn't check her butt. So if you ever find a stray in Ridgeland you may as well just go straight to JARM.

I fostered kittens for them and they were 18 weeks old before I was able to return them they never once called me and they never checked me out to make sure I was a good fit then I knew a friend they let foster 2 and both of those kittens ended up hurt badly and died I could have told them that she wasn't able to care for them or protect them they need to be a little pickier about whom they let foster and they need to be able to take the animals back in when they are able to eat dry food
