Carmen, the store manager, is such a kind soul! I had so much fun talking to her, seeing and petting the cats that roam about in there (they are so sweet and up for adoption!) and finding so many treasures! I got so many things for an amazing amazing price. Can’t wait to come back soon! There is something for everyone! And you’re supporting the Jasper County animal shelter. Thanks Carmen and the volunteers for your hospitality and for what you do for the animals!

The money raised goes to JARM (Jasper Animal Rescue Mission). They have tons of different items at thrift store prices. They carry quality items not junk. Merchandise changes daily. Check out their store frequently. Only 20-25 minutes from Sun City. Worth the trip.

I am not in this store every day, just everyday I can get there! ALWAYS something new and interesting. This is by far the very best thrift store I have ever shopped. (and I have been in a lot!) An amazing plus is that proceeds go to our furry friends who cannot raise money for themselves. If you have not shopped at Barkin Basement, you are missing so much fun!

I love the treasure hunt every time I go to the Barkin. I know the manager Carmen works hard to find AND pickup good quality donations from good homes to support JARM. She is a fantastic individual who has cultivated a network of people and supporters to help this non profit thrive. She’s always got some kind of sale going on and it’s always a bargain; especially if you can catch her when she’s unloading a donation pickup.

I started going to Barkin Basement two years ago after moving from Ohio. Loved the prices, gals who worked at the store and total atmosphere of friendliness. After going to island and Bluffton thrift stores, the prices and all were so much better.Janet, Barbara, Carmine,Cheryl Sue, Ann, Trish, Linda Sharon, Cindy and Rebecca are all super. Go and have a wonderful time with all prices at 50 percent off. And play with the kitties 🐱

Everytime I go into the Barkin' Basement everyone is always so welcoming! It's especially great because EVERYTHING is 50% off! Barkin' Basement was super helpful when it came to buying decorations for my wedding, and for my future classroom. You couldn't ask for better people, or a better place to thrift. You can even adopt kittens that are provided by JARM (a local animal shelter in ridgeland.) Better yet, all of the proceeds go directly to the JARM. I mean, who could ask for more? Overall Barkin' Basement is the perfect place to shop if you're on a budget!

Excellent experience!!!! Staff friendly and helpful. Store is full of wonderful treasures at bargain prices! Very clean and plenty of room to shop. Loved the kittens too. Makes shopping more fun to have cats around. Will definitely go back again and again. They always have different things so it’s like a treasure hunt every time

Nice clean Thrift Store with so many treasures to choose from I could decorate my whole house in one visit!!! Easy to find the store right on one of the main streets in a great little town. Prices were awesome and so is the help. Will tell all my friends!! Also love to support the animals so it's a great way to shop and support at the same time!!!!!!

I love the Barkin Basement. No attitude no dissing just great stuff around really loving people. I have found the manager and the volunteers to go the extra mile to help people and connect with people. Some of my best things in my home are from there. Donations come from Hilton Head and the wealthier communities at Ridgeland prices.

The Barkin is such a fun shop! I go there every time I go to Ridgeland. I've bought cookbooks and vintage stationary, end tables and light fixtures, vintage jewelry and paintings. It's fun to stroll through the aisles of treasures. Always clean and inviting and the right temperature. Always staged well to inspire my decorating at home. Love this little gem!

I absolutely love these types of thrift stores but sadly I am severely allergic to cats so I can never give them my business. I just don't understand why they have to have loose cats climbing and laying on the merchandise. I give 3 stars only because i love helping animals in need of homes, but can't actually help them.

Really enjoy walking into this buisness. Lots of things to find, a "treasure hunt" if you will. Staff is very friendly, prices are very reasonable. Need accessories, holiday nic-nacs, furniture & more. Stop by, I think you'll enjoy this thrift shop. Donations accepted & appreciated.

RUDE RUDE RUDE. Husband and I went in there today as we like to go to different towns and thrift shop. Sign on the door said ‘Please wear a mask’. It didn’t say masks were required…just please wear one. As soon as we walked in the lady asked us if we have had our covid vaccine. Husband answered yes. She said ‘is that a true yes or a NO and you didn’t really have it?’ He said ‘excuse me? Are you accusing me of lying?’ She said she wanted to know if we truly had the vaccine because they are under a mask mandate. Ummm….NO you are not under a mask mandate. That was lifted several weeks ago. And if you are so worried about that vaccine, why did you have your mask on? Literally calling us a liar. I turned around and throw my hands up and said, ‘let’s go. We don’t need to be integrated like this’. Her reply was…so you didn’t have it did you? Hmmm…what did my husband just tell you? I should have asked her how many surgeries she has had or if she has ever have a communicable disease. But I was beyond livid. As was my husband. We will never step foot in that place again. I will not and don’t deserve to be integrated by your volunteers. Period. What a shame because when we got thrifting, we usually spend a couple hundred dollars. RUDE RUDE RUDE. AND DONT ARGUE WITH YOUR CUSTOMERS.
