Got away for a weekend with the kids and this was a “close our eyes and pick a new park” situation. The campsites here are beautiful. Nearby access to a couple of low impact trails but also:-great spot for fishing-nice playground-great kayaking-great bikingThe park has miles from the gate out to its point in the lake and the whole piece of land is a peninsula so all campsites are lakefront and beautiful. The camp store is small but we’ll equipped and nice. The kids loved it for a quick getaway!Bath houses need some upkeep but I did hear they were being updated and rebuilt in spots right now.

Beautiful spacious sites. Park is clean. Restrooms are sparse for such a large park (200 sites) with 1 shower stall, 2 toilets, 3 sinks. Ground is red clay, slippery when wet. Office is clean, well stocked with treats, ice, fishing stuff, souvenirs. Employees are friendly.

Nice, mostly secluded campsites. Hookups are a little bit sporadically placed so make sure you have extra hoses and electric cords. Had to get creative at the spot I chose to get the front door of my travel trailer facing the water.Playground: Nice playground, have to drive to get to it though due to the topography

This is another great SC State campground. Almost every single campsite is on the water ! The restrooms are clean w/ 1 or 2 showers and an electrical outlet for a blow dryer. It may not be the case when all 200 sites are occupied and there are only 9 bathrooms for those campsites. But in the off season its fine. The campsites are very spacious and most have some privacy. Each has electric and water, picnic table andfire pit. They are partial gravel/ mostly sandy soil. The camp store is welcoming and ice is only $2.50 a bag. But everything else was a little more pricey. $7.50 for firewood which is about average. Lots of junk food and slurpees for the kiddos. This is a great park to birdwatch ! And we saw deer running along the water in the early morning . Seemed to be armadillos around at night but we never saw themPlayground: Children’s playground in day use areaRestrooms: Clean, showers, outlet for a blowdryer or what everDog-friendliness: Trails to walk with your dog as well as around the lakePicnic area: Covered pavilions as well as picnic tables in the open air

Campsite was clean, water and electric hookup for rv. Bathroom facilities were also clean, I saw staff clean women’s room at 9 am, felt safe. They had a cute shop at check in where you could buy items you may have forgotten like s’mores I purchased. Staff was very helpful for this first time camper. Check in was 2 pm check out 12 pm. My son caught catfish off the beach, the water was low I hope we don’t lose our lake!Restrooms: Clean. Not all bathrooms had showers and there was a wait at night to showerDog-friendliness: Dog friendly must be on a leash no greater than 6 ft or crated, they can’t be left unattended.

This campground is incredibly clean, well-run, and stunning, especially for the price you pay to stay here. Our group stayed in the primitive sites, which gave us basically our own private little peninsula with the beautiful water on three sides of us, allowing us to wake up to the sound of lapping waves each morning. Water sports equipment is delivered right to your campsite and taken away the next day, which I found to be an incredible and unexpected service. Each site was very private. The bathrooms were honestly unbelievably clean for a campsite, and the only negative about them (a very dim light which made a midnight stop a little spooky) was fixed first thing the next morning. I would recommend this spot to literally anyone within a 100 mile radius that wants a quality camping spot.

I've camped all over the US and can say this is the best cared for park with the friendliest staff I've ever experienced. Hamilton Branch State Park should serve as a model for other state parks.Playground: Great small playground with beautiful views and geocache near byRestrooms: Hands down the cleanest, most well taken care of campground bathrooms ever. The only downside is the number of stalls and showers, I imagine during the busy season, there might be a line to use the facilities.

Pros...Sites were well spaced out and nicely sized, great views from all the spots we passed by, potable water at a tent only site was big bonus for us. Bathhouse easily accessible and well lit.Staff was friendly and very helpful. Fishing loaner program, in the well stocked camp store. Park was well kept in general and bathhouse was cleaned daily and issues resolved quickly. They had an official halloween on Saturday section with blocked off traffic, welcome bags for the kids, photo ops as you walk in, campsites decorated and even had smores and apple cider and face painting...overall awesome family fun vibes.Cons....wish there was an easier way to get after hours help as our secrion was without a host for a couple of days and we had some noise makers a few spaces down, partially my fault for not notifying staff during the day after first night.Restrooms: Mens had 2 toilets, 1 urinal, and 2 shower stalls. Good water presure, decent hot water. Soap and toilet paper never ran out.Dog-friendliness: Dogs on 6ft leash

I had been in the Hamilton Branch State Park vicinity several times, but I wasn't even aware that it was there. I visited them the day after talking about it. It looks great out there. I will see them again soon.

Beautiful camp sites! 164 was a secluded 3 min walk to the next site, except for being across the drive from the camp host. the site extended into an open area behind our site. the clay ground had a little drop into the clear water. Some sites had a nice gradual incline for swimming. The gates were open so we could arrive after the 5pm and check in in the morning. these are the most private, distanced sites that I’ve ever seen in a campground. Pretty far walk to the bathrooms from here. free dump station too!

Nice park. The spots are set up odd though, be sure you can reach your water and power! We had to adjust our RV 3 times before getting it just right because we're here for the views! And because of the rain our RV is sinking some in the front, hopefully it wont be too difficult to back out when it's time to leave. Great area to bike and kayak.

Had a wonderful time 4th of july weekend enjoyed (The point) a rustic site it was very peaceful and a beautiful view.water fire ring and grill no electricity. Bathrooms by parking areaThe walk was not that bad and there was carts to haul your gear to your site. Was warm but manageable. Ants are a small problem was not getting bit just taking over food.If you put the food in sealed container I think you would be better off. Also definitely some water shoes to help on the clay bottom.Over all LOVED it what a peaceful place!Restrooms: Clean. kinda dark light goes out was fine for us kids might want a light to take. Ended up shutting down before we left but they were working on them.Dog-friendliness: Dogs on leashI have a german shepherd and he absolutely loved it.Lake was great for him.

I went to the park for a short amount of time. I definitely recommend walking the trail if you enjoy viewing wildlife. I saw 2 deer and was able to get close to them, as well as a colorful millipede and some squirrels. This state park is definitely centered around camping, so if you are looking for a good place to camp in SC this is a good location. The lake is beautiful and overall this is a wonderful state park.Playground: YesRestrooms: YesDog-friendliness: Dogs allowedPicnic area: 3 picnicking areas around the lake

Great Park, friendly and helpful staff. Just one thing I should have looked closer at the site map, my doors and awning faced away from the lake. My oversight, but the view was still awesome. It was very peaceful and quiet and there was a lot of space between sites for privacy. Highly recommend it.Restrooms: Could have been a bit cleaner.

I have mixed reviews about Hamilton Branch State Park, especially in light of a large group gathering. The campsites were very spread out in different loops. The park is huge with 200 campsites. So for a group gathering it was not the best situation to be all together close to each other. I was on red clay site 150 with a small trailer and was unable to have my camper door facing the lake. Also the water spigot apparently had been bumped a few times and was tilted down which made it more difficult to hook up my filter and water pressure connector. But the view of the lake was beautiful. A lot of the campsites were gorgeous. I did wish that there had been more shower houses throughout the park, because I had to get into my car to go to the closest one. The hosts were so nice and friendly.

Beautiful campground. All camp sites have lots of room, a great view of the water. Take your pick ... Sunset or Sunrise, 200 sites to choose from. The grounds are clean and cleaning crew does a superb job cleaning the restrooms. It's just sad the messes that some campers leave in the restrooms. Very sad. I hope the crew is paid well.

The sites are a little more separated than most parks. There are plenty places to hang for hammock campers or nice size tent pads. We had both at our site. The park is fairly close to Savannah Rapids which was a very fun day trip. Bathrooms were clean and staff extremely friendly. We will definitely be going back.

This was our first time here. It's pretty amazing. Most camping spots are litterly on the lake, so you can fish off the bank right there at your camp site. It's clean, camp hosts are nice. Bathrooms are very clean, and primitive camping is also available. Bring your tent, or Camper and come enjoy this place. It's so worth it.

A truly beautiful park. This park is so private and quiet. If you are into fishing boating swimming and kayaking this is the place for you. There are not really any hiking options or recreation areas. The bathrooms are very far from the campsite so I would not suggest camping unless you have an RV. Make sure you look closely when booking your campsite as many of them have your rv facing the road instead of the lake.

We had a great time tent camping here. They also had kayaks there to rent. I think they were 35 dollars per day. Great place with a great view. Check the park area out also, It's beautiful.

Loved our time at The Point here at HBSP. We were at the very last campsite at the end of the park. It’s a little peninsula surrounded by the beauty of the water. It was peaceful and quiet. The hike in to the site was made easy with the provided carts at the parking lot.One thing to note about the sites at the point is that the building at the parking lot is restroom only, no showers. I had misunderstood that. But showers are a short drive up the road. Can’t wait to come back to this site.

This is such a beautiful campground. The staff are friendly, campsites are spacious and spaced out and all of the restrooms we used were very clean. There are 10 bathroom/shower facilities and 2 dump stations. Almost every site is on the water. We stayed at site 42 and it was perfect. The sun rose on the opposite side of the peninsula and set behind us, so we never had the sun waking us up and had gorgeous sunsets in the evening. Reception and phone service were great. There is also a great little playground with picnic tables as well. All of my kids, from 6-17 enjoyed this getaway.

A family member had her wedding at the park. The rented shelter was on a loop by itself and there was a big grassy area next to the shelter that was perfect for the wedding. Picnic tables and a grill were available, but they had their own grills. Trash can was provided. Not a lot of parking but since it was a loop, everyone was accommodated. The closest bathrooms are at the store/check in. Bring everything you need including table cloths and extra chairs. Nice swimming and fishing area. The store was well equipped even though it was February but no live bait. Sorry, no photos

We really enjoyed this park. We have been here several times but this was our first time camping there. For the most part we enjoyed our campsites, except for all the dead trees and branches surrounding us. Unfortunately several fell during our stay and scared us but no damage. The camp host located near us has a "compound" type set up and had so many lights during the night we had to shield our tents on one side just to get some darkness. I think that was a little excessive. The bathrooms were clean but the showers were gross and the tiles on the floor were broken/sharp, so we decided not to use them. It's a good place to take the family for a day at the lake. I just hope they do some cleaning up in the near future.Playground: Decent size park and it is in a good location on the lake. Only downside is the bathrooms are in a different location and they are not in the greatest conditions.Restrooms: They were clean but very outdated especially the showers. Broken tiles and lights.

The Paleo trail is short but interesting, we found a deer almost in front of us. Get repellent because the mosquitos and gnats going to make your hike miserable. But, on the other hand, the picnic area is beautiful, with the shores to refresh your feet, the breeze and the view.

This is a wonder park with large lakeside campsites. There are hiking trails and fishing opportunities. It would have been a perfect stay, if not for the close proximity to the race track. Racing lasted until past midnight Saturday night and was very loud.Would suggest checking the race schedule before booking or even camping here, if attending the races.
