Laila's Place is a delight. A truly local enterprise, run by the whole family. Big meaty sandwiches with interesting combinations, and delicious sides of pasta or potato salad. And the yeast donuts! Big and fluffy and just right. I forgot to take pics because, yum!Parking: Several parking lots around the corner, you'll need to walk a block or two. Some street parking depending on day of week and time of day.

I love to support local businesses so I will give this place a 3 stars for that. BUT there is room for much improvement! We drove up from Columbia after seeing the ads on Facebook. We had a large groups of children with us expecting lunch and sweet treats. We get there and the options are slim. No lunch was available. They serve Hershey’s ice cream. The ice cream was freezer burnt. Wrapped desserts (cookies, pound cake slices) looked like they had been there awhile. There were some really dark slices of what I assume were pumpkin or sweet potato pie. They didn’t look good either. They only had glazed and like 6 maple bacon donuts in display case. They did not look appetizing or fresh. The glaze on the glazed was dried hard! I also noticed the staff eating donut holes out of the bakers rack, but they were not on display for sale. We tried the red velvet and vanilla cupcakes with were pretty good. Shop needs a deep clean and a make over, and for a bakery we smelled no baked good upon entering. It was like a strong chili smell, but no lunch. Strange! Staff acted like zombies (2 females and a male). Not really engaging or knowledgeable. We probably won’t return here any time soon. It’s unfortunate, because this place has a ton of potential being nestled right downtown Newberry.

Nice flavorful sandwiches. We even ate the crust. Fair tea, not weak, not syrup either. Even offers something peculiar Unsweet tea. Excellent ice cream selection. Good to share a scoop or cone. They do big full scoops. The Pecan Praline is exquisite. Lovely location to take a stroll around the block and window shop. The Inside is clean and doesn't smell good or bad. Unisex restroom is clean. Nice date spot.

One of the employees at the orchid farm recommended this place to us . Not disappointed! Absolutely amazing place to stop for lunch. Everything is delicious and a great price. The banana pudding donut was one of the best I have ever had.

We visited The Corner Scoop yesterday for lunch. We all had hot dogs and chips. The hot dogs were great. Most of us also had delicious ice cream. Very clean inside and the nice owner gave me a tour of the large and very clean kitchen area. Free parking in the back. Recommended!

Newberry is my hometown! I have been following Laila’s on social media and couldn’t wait to stop by during my recent visit! I had the opportunity to chat with Laila and her dad and they are very nice people. I purchased a chicken salad, various cakes and a few donuts! Everything was fresh and delicious! Laila’s is such a great addition to the growing Newberry community!

If you're in the area you MUST go in. Grab some pound cake or banana nut bread and a scoop of ice cream. The service is wonderful and I cannot say enough about how delicious the baked goods are. 10 stars!

Friendly staff that sells awesome desserts. The lemon square ( they called it something different but for the life of me I can't remember what) was incredible, so of the best I had. We are going to have to return and try the ice cream.

My favorite place in Downtown Newberry, I can't recommend it enough. I have been maybe a couple dozen times and brought friends here, and I always leave happy. The owners are wonderful people and extremely friendly, and their employees are no less so. They also have some of the best sandwiches and hot dogs I've ever had. Their ice cream selection is huge, and all the flavors are amazing. The entire place is also spotlessly clean. All around one of the best little places I've ever been.

Amazing! Had an Italian sub, wife had chix salad. We ended up sharing each other's meal because we couldn't decide who had a better choice. Ended up with a quart of chix salad to take home for meals.The real experience, though, are the owners. Jason and Tia are delightful, and their kids all help at the shop, making it a truly family run business. Super friendly and attentive. We chatted while enjoying our lunch...if you get the opportunity, listen to their start up story. Really incredible. We will be back often.

Bluberry fritter was delicious, but disappointed we were unable to get lunch. We traveled up from Columbia just to have lunch at the Cafe, but were told they'd stop serving just a few moments before we got there. There was nothing on the website about their meal options only being served until 2.

Amazing cupcakes! We went before closing and they were so nice! You get a sandwich, pickle, drink and cookie all for only $10! The customer service was very friendly the girls who were working were nice and helpful!! Great atmosphere!

Super cute little ice cream shop! We dropped by for the solar eclipse, when the entire town was slammed with tourists (most of whom wanted ice cream since it was so sunny), but the service was fantastic, and everyone was incredibly warm and friendly despite the hectic crowds. Plus the ice cream was great! Props to everyone who was working that day!

I love this place so much! The people there are soooooo kind and generous! I would recommend this delicious ice cream place to anyone! My friend and I were the first people there when it opened so we got to meet the owner. He was really nice and gave us free ice cream a few times! I love this place ❤️!!!!

First, the owner, Jason, is the nicest! I stopped in today to grab lunch and got the 2 hotdogs special (including chips/cookie/soda) for $6.99. My husband and I always stop at the most random places when we travel in search of the best hot dogs. And I have to say some of the best I've had are in my own small town. Their hotdogs are so good! The bun is perfect (warm and soft), and the chili is homemade and perfect (great texture and not too much cumin). And their cupcakes and doughnuts look amazing!
