Line was long tonight. The cashier Drew happily greeted the 2 white men in front of my partner & I, took their cash, and wished them Merry Christmas. When we, 2 black women approached, he didn’t greet us, used the counterfeit marker on our $20 bill too EXCESS, like he didn’t want to believe it was real, and just handed us our change. No words spoken to us at all. Mind you, both white men handed him 20s which he didn’t check! Very rude.

The cashier Drew was rude and I felt racially profiled by him. He greeted and wished multiple white customers Merry Christmas and COMPLETELY ignored my girlfriend and I. He spoke not ONE word to us and acted like our money was counterfeit, which he didn’t do to anyone else.

It's smaller than some groceries but comfortable. Great products. They have their own bakery, mmmm. The staff is friendly and very helpful most of the time. I think it's much better than the super groceries.

1st time customer. Great store. Wish I had known of it before! Publix is ONLY competition except for Walmart MEAT DEPARTMENT which is one category Walmart wins in.

Best grocery store in Newberry. IDC what anyone says, they're WAY better quality and cheaper than Walmart. They've got a great Hispanic foods section too

It is not stocked well. It is hard to maneuver through the aisles because they are too narrow. The store is worn out - they need to move to a larger, nicer location or close for a while and remodel and regroup. I go out of town to shop if it's at all possible. I do have to give kudos to the staff - they are usually very friendly and helpful.

Went to go rent a carpet cleaner device and they let me rent 2 machines that the employees themselves said they knew weren’t working. Both the manager, some guy named JB? And some other young lady were all just laughing and making jokes about the machines (knowing that both machines didn’t work as well). One of the employees even had audacity to make a smart remark after my second time returning when the first machine didn’t work, saying “oh here they come again” definitely won’t be coming again there for any rentals just go to Lowe’s they actually maintain and repair their tools. Anything else there is usually alright.

I absolutely love Food Lion because of their friendly helpful staff, they seem to be customer oriented, however this evening was extremely troubling.An older white woman who may have been A manger possibly a store manager, not sure, I will update this post with her correct name.She came over to the register and said'I am here to count the drinks "There was myself and the cashier but somehow she said she would be the determining factor to confirm if both myself and the cashier knows how to count.If you don't trust your customers CLOSE YOUR STORE.There was a Grocery Manager in the store being trained by her (his name was Greg and he was a super nice guy) but I'm sure what he gained from this experience was that a customer who ALWAYS CHOOSES to shop at this store will likely limit or stop coming.This same woman I asked to go get the drinks and she suggested that I go get them which was fine. I told her if you were going to check behind me why didn't you just get them yourself then she replied I think I might next time that is a good idea. So not only did she show me that she did not trust me she added her condescending rude tone and commentary. I originally came in to get milk and noticed small drinks on sale and so I got a frozen of each flavor.After all was said and done her comment to me was 'looks like you counted correctly".I think since Big Lots has glowing reviews on their customers service I will get ALL OF MY DRINKS GOING FORWARD FROM THEM. I will gradually stop going to Food Lion since their new motto is insult the customers intelligence, challenge the integrity of your cashier and be sure to have condescending commentary.I am grateful for options. I will be sure to now find other places to spend my money. Hopefully with a company that values my business and treats me with decency.Btw all she had to do was say she was coming over to help the cashier bag the groceries...she could have privately counted while she bagged I would have never known. It's never what you do it's always HOW YOU DO IT. I told her perception is everything and she told me "well sometimes perception is wrong"...I said nothing because perception is never about RIGHT OR WRONG...but ignorance possibly blocked her from understanding the definition of perception. Because she decided to give me the exchange which clearly showed no regard for how I felt I chose to communicate how I felt to Greg the new grocery manager... hopefully her ways does not transfer to him, he seemed quite nice.But no worries...my business clearly does not matter to this Food Lion Location..maybe Newberry will get a Publix and I can shop there. until then I will figure something else out.I'm tired of the cloud of mistrust when it comes to Caucasian people. And how they deal with black people when we are patrons of their establishment .I am black, educated and have NEVER stolen or needed to steal ANYTHING. I am honest and bought those juice drinks for children in my community who we frequently give out drinks and ice cream too...so no matter how good we are, how generous we are, how kind we are, how successful we are, the black customer and the black cashier needs the white woman to come over and triple check behind us. I'm very TIRED OF THIS ENERGY.I will find more positive places to shop. 🤷🏿

I would give this store a zero…This is my first time experiencing an awful situation out of the state. On 07/03/2023 my mom and my aunt were shopping at this food lion until a lady approached to them having a nasty attitude towards them. Based on what my mom was telling me the lady told them if they spoke English and my aunt was saying yes. But that same lady rolled her eyes at them and having an ugly attitude. Then the manager of store came telling my aunt and my mom they couldn’t eat the fruit aka the merchandise because costumers will see it. First of all my mom and aunt weren’t eating the “merchandise”. Second both of them went to a farm to pick up guitar and they went to store eating the fruit THEY BOUGHT and before anything happens my aunt always came to this store without any problems. Third I know they are telling the truth because I went to the farm with them and waited at the car. I do not appreciate how this store and the employees accused my family members of stealing especially having a nasty attitude towards them. Please do a better job people this will be my first and last time going here so if you like going to a place where you are falsely accused this is your place.

I went to get a Boston butt pork roast. On sale . 99 /lb. Went on the first day of sale because usually this food lion sales out of them the first day. I was surprised to find they had plenty in stock. At the advertised price. Nice store with friendly folks.

Update! Very much improved since my last visit over a year ago. The store was very clean. Cashiers were polite and helpful. Everything was nicely stocked, and I had no problems. Will be back!

The manager there treated her staff like dirt in front of several customers. She also had a chip on her shoulder and rolled her eyes and put her hands on her hips as if I was bothering her when I waited 28 minutes for a question about sending money thru to Western Union. She was quick with rude attitude to tell me that she couldn't do anything because they are a new store and were not able to serve that service yet, she was extremely rude and offered no apology for my wait but as I walked away one of the cashiers (the one she treated like dirt in front of myself and others, even though she was as nice as can be and doing her job well.) apologized for my wait and her managers behavior. I am two minutes away but I will drive 10 more miles in a different direction so I won't be supporting a store who treats their employees this way. There's no sense in treating nice mannered customers and employees like they are a bother.

Customers were rude, employees were rude. The pre made salads were wet and brown. Store was a mess barely any registers open. Some lady was outside the store with a loud speaker playing a violin and annoying people with her bad playing and no one in the store said anything no matter how many people asked her to stop.

I had went in early sat morning trying to beat the crown seems like every time i go in this food lion tge custimer service line is to the door. Never ever the same cashier and someone is usually being trained tgerefore takeing even longer to get my check cashed. Well this morning the same lady manager greeted me st the customer service desk by saying “”oh hiney we open at 6:00 but tge customer service counter does not open until 7:00 so its like 6:10 so i say “no problem i will come back” then she sais “ we have to have customers buy grocerys so we will have money to cash checks “ she said nothing about it will be about 10 or 11 until we have enough to cash your check she even asked me how much it was for and i politely told her giveing her the opportunity to let me no if i should come later but she did not so i came back at 7:00am she walks up to me and puts her hand on my shoulder and starts laughing saying “ honey i didnt tell you to come back at 7:00 “ well sge sure did not tell me NOT TO COME BACK @ 7:00 THATS FOR SURE….

Bakery - ordered a 1/4 sheet cake for my mother's 85th birthday. The ordering process was fast and easy. I walked in to pickup the cake and they had it ready and waiting on me at the agreed time. Excellent service.

Just left Food Lion in Newberry. Store was very clean, well stocked, and some good deals. Staff were exceptionally nice and so helpful. No long wait in check out like other stores and that was nice.👌😁👊

Oh my yes I went thanksgiving evening and my experience was great. And I bought a lot and I had great service and help and all precautions were taken for covid--19. I think Newberry SC needs a big applause in precautionary steps taken and overall friendliness through this time we are all going through. Thank you Newberry SC 👍loved my visit at food lion it was so easy and quick to get the things i needed and get out on a holiday. And everyone was so friendly and helpful. Keep up the good work Food Lion

I tried out shopping for pickup for the first time and had an excellent experience. I had picked number 7 today (21 May 2020) and had excellent communications for adjustments and submissions. I also appreciated the order being brought to my car and loaded into the car. I will definately make use of this service again.

Cashier Kelly, newer cashier arm tattoos, was phenomenal. Was super stressed walking into the overcrowded store with my son, and ended up leaving in a significantly better mood. Best experience I've ever had going there, and I've been going there for years.
