Used to come here all the time and the service and cleanliness was outstanding. Now the owner is rude and condescending! The floors and cages are disgusting and piled on top of each other like a backyard breeder instead of a treasure. I waved hi with my pointer finger about 2 inches from a cage and she yelled at me. Would not recommend. Find a rescue that doesn’t force birds who don’t like each other into a cage together. No birds have ever been handled since none were allowed to be touched. Im disgusted.

This used to be a cool place to purchase bird things. Drove 90 miles and they were closed. Yet website said they were open. The outside looks like a garbage dump. Tried calling several times while in the area. No voice mail greeting, store hours nada nothing...phone just rings and rings. Not a good way to run a business.

Awesome staff, awesome birds, very knowledgeable folk. Had a really good time there. They did a great job at trimming my yellow napped parrots nails and wings without hassle, and he can be a very difficult bird lol.

Absolutely filthy. The cages haven’t been cleaned in god knows how long and the birds’ water is thick and yellow. This makes me angry. My heart breaks for these birds. You have way too many birds and are in over your head. PLEASE DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM! What a horrible place. I’m mortified!

I am SO THANKFUL for Backyard Treasures and for Amy, the owner!! I always take my CAG, Rosey in there toHave her nails and her wings clipped. And my Grey has become quite the Drama queen since she has but a little age on her! And poor Amy usually ends up getting bit by my Grey! So SORRY AMY! I really appreciate the patience you always show my grey and how you manage to never lose it and always keep your composure even after taking a hit from my Greys powerful beak! I always buy my food from here and I also board my Grey here when taking a vacation. It gives me a wonderful peace of mind to know that my CAG will be treated like she is on a vacation also because of all the wonderful people there to take care of her! Everyone needs to support Backyard Treasures because without this type of store, all of us Bird people would be in a world of hurt! So please don’t take them for granted! Before BYT came onto the scene I was having to take a Jardines parrot I had to a regular vet to get her wings clipped. And all it took was one visit and a bad wing clip (wings cut way to short) and I ended up with that sweet little Jardine parrot turning into a parrot that plucked out ever feather from the neck down! Then she started self mutilating herself and the vet ended up putting her on antipsychotics! Poor bird was never the same. It broke my heart. It was like having a handicap child. She ended up dying not long after that from Septicemia. God Bless you, my sweet little Jardie. You’re forever in my heart! And God Bless you Amy for all you do for us and our fids!!

I use to take my bird here for nails and wing trims and purchased all supplies for him. I hadn't been in quite a while since his passing. This place was once a wonderful well kept store. My girlfriend and I stopped in not to long ago and it was absolutely terrible!!! The store was filthy, cages looked like they hadn't been cleaned in days! Very heartbreaking to see it has gone down like this. Lots of rescued birds, but from the looks and conditions of how they're being kept im not sure they are any better off!

My wife had been wanting a bird for quite a while. She did research and made sure we had everything we needed to make sure he had a happy home. We searched pet stores and she would always say "noo, I'm not so sure about this one." Every pet store we went to the birds just seemed so scared and nothing that would be the right fit for us. We heard about this place from the people we buy our dog food from so mothers day I decided to take her here and we must have spent 2 hours here! There are so many birds yet each and every one of them have a name and have an amazing bond with the ladies that work here! If you are looking for a companion this is the place to go. These birds are cared for individually and each and every one of them get so much one on one attention. We walked in the and each and every bird that we walked up to wanted to play and was at the edge of their cage wanting attention. Some birds were out of there cages just chilling. Their birds are a little bit more but there are so many different breeds and every one of them is hand fed and raised around people from the time they hatch! These birds are loved and cared for so much! I highly recommend this being not just the first but the only place you go to add the perfect addition to your family!!

My husband bought me a cockatiel for my birthday last year in July. I wasn't able to take the bird home until it had matured enough. If this business didn't care about the welfare of their birds then they wouldn't have cared after they made the sale. I have always seen love and care from the staff towards these birds. I also got a conure this past christmas and my birds are healthy happy loving birds. It's a wonderful local owned business and I recommend it to any bird lover!

I stopped by today to get some things for doodle. And I was so educated on everything! They answered all of my questions and have some of the SWEETEST birds. I wish I could stay all day.

Not a pleasant experience today. I dont know if the one woman we interacted with is the owner but she was rude. I went in to buy 2 female zebra finches. She told me they didnt have any. Said this weekend they would. I proceded to go look for myself. Sure enough they had 4 female zebras. Robin, whom works there and is family was in the back feeding the larger birds we spoke to. She said yes, they had female zebras and helped us by getting them for us. Prices are posted in the finch room and normal zebras are listed at 20 a piece. Fancy are 25 each. The woman at the front told Robin to charge us 25 a piece even though posted price is 20 a piece. She said they havent been doing good lately with sales and that was why the increase. We also purchased a cockatiel for pick up next week. Price was the correct one from that sign. Im not new to birds, dont treat me like i am. I know what i want and know how to raise birds. If you should chose backyard treasures to purchase a new pet, deal with Robin or the other younger girl. They are pleasant.

To anyone on here going on about how you bought a bird and you came home or woke up to find them dead.. I'm sorry but that's on you.. we adopted a GCC from them and our first trip within the second day was to the vet.. a bird can become ill and be dead in less than a week. The ladies here take AMAZING care if these babies and if you woke up to finding your baby dead its because you were not monitoring her as you should have been.. I get you are heart broken but that is why it is so important to take your birds for complete checkups withing the first few days of coming home. You cannot say you bought a sick bird when you never took it fir a check up to make sure it was ok... thepeople working here give their whole lives ti the care of these birds. My baby was so used to being handled that we were able to take her to her first check up the second day we had her and she wasn't stressed at all. If you can't put the time, money, of effort into the very unique care it takes to keep a bird healthy.. then you need to rethink bringing one home.. there is zero excuse for anyone ti not bring a bird for a check up within the first week of arriving home..

Went looking for a green cheek conure. Poor things are in cages grouped together too small for even one bird. The smaller birds such as green cheeks aren't handled at all. We got a bird from them, we weren't given any paperwork. Our bird doesn't even have a bracelet. I have a lot of work to do for this boy to become the sweet boy I know he can be. Don't shop from this back yard breeder/rescue. (Cages were disgusting and smaller birds were all cramped together)

Everybody is very friendly, but I got my bird a week ago, and I woke up this morning to her laying on the bottom of the cage, dead. I only had her for a week but it was very disturbing finding her like that. This means that we brought her home sick and there was nothing that I could do. Please take into consideration that this place doesn’t care if they give away a sick bird.

My little Canary got sick and I didn't have a clue what to do. They established that she was egg bound and gave me step by step instructions on how to help her. I was very impressed with their knowledge and their concern for us. I will always purchase from Backyard Treasures as I trust them to help me take care of may little friends. Thank you for your help!

If there was a way to leave negative stars I would!! came to purchase a bird which will be my first so I had limited knowledge, the young lady walked off in the middle of my questions to play with a beatle she found and Everytime I found a bird I liked shed only told me why I wouldn't want it, as if she knew what my needs in a bird were being that she never asked. We came as a family because we are purchasing a FAMILY pet my son goes near the cage and she YELLS don't touch the birds cuz they can die, mind u he is 13 not a baby and as stated prev.. they are caged and he couldn't even reach the bird. I couldn't get any questions answered about the birds yet got a tutorial on how if he touches them covid can be transmitted.. said the maskless clerk!!! The customer service was horrible, so my children and I politely left. I pray my MELANIN didn't cause you to miss a check being that your started birds are 450.00 plus I would have had to buy cages n toys u need to hire knowledge sales ppl, who only see green... if it was an off day and this isn't ur normal protocol I pray that tomorrow's a better day for you and that u remember to be kind to everyone BECAUSE U NEVER KNOW WHO U R TALKING TOSincerely,A woman who knows the power of her dollar and word of mouth

LOVE this place and the owner! They treat me and my birds like family. They help me with whatever I need and I’m so thankful for them. I wouldn’t go anywhere else for my birds food, toys, grooming and boarding needs. I drive from Georgia specifically to go there! I can’t say enough great things about Backyard Treasures:)

I adopted an umbrella cockatoo that I was told was good with children. I paid a $2000 adoption fee. The bird was very aggressive and bit everyone in the house. I took him back and expected the $2000 to go towards another adoption. Nope. Now I’m out that money as well as the ridiculous cage they had me buy. Now there are adopting out the same bird for another $2000. What a scam.

Buy at your own risk. We finally got our cockatiel about 3 weeks ago. We all fell in love quickly with our sweet baby and vice versa. They do not do any infectious disease screenings. We knew this prior to and after reading reviews we should have known better but were so anxious to welcome one into our home. Today our baby was on the bottom of his cage with curled toes and very lethargic. We rushed it to the Avian and they took him/her in immediately to try saving it but it was too late - it passed shortly after they tried administering iv’s. The Dr said it was nothing we did and not to blame ourselves, we just got a really sick bird and they are good at hiding it til it’s too late. 3.5 weeks with that sweet baby felt like years and we are absolutely devastated and heartbroken as are our children. There are local breeders that give the certificates for their health screenings to ensure they are not sick. I highly suggest going that route so you don’t go through what we are now going through.

The owner Amy is very rude to employees as well as customers. She does not make you feel welcome and doesn't like for you to interact with the birds. Things are looking very run down. Birds that have been there for years are not as vibrant as they use to be. They seem to have poor husbandry. I will not be shopping here anymore. So sad because it was a great place to visit when Mrs Ruth owned it.

I wanted to find a small business I could get comfortable with, invest my time in, and give my business to. Sick and tired of the chain pet stores that don’t have any selection and rude employees that don’t know what they’re doing. I saw Backyard Treasures online and saw that it had the variety of toys and birds. I drove 45 minutes to get there and was super excited. I walk in and there’s 3 or so people, not busy at all. There’s no “hello, how are you?” I felt like I had interrupted something. I walk around looking at all the supplies waiting for someone to help and find what I was looking for. I see one of the birds, a beautiful Amazon, and I was going to send a picture to my SO to see if he’d be interested in another bird. I turned around and this rude lady said, “if you’re going to take any pictures, I just ask that you don’t send them”. She turned and walked away going back to the group of people. I was mortified. I left soon after. There’s isn't a sign that says no photos. No employees around to help. If you want to feel incredibly unwelcome and uncomfortable in an establishment, go there, they’re good at it.

This was my first time here and this place is amazing. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. They are attentive to their birds that are available and those that are boarded for customers. I will definitely be back when I finally get the courage to adopt one of their majestic winged lovelies.

Bought a bird there a while back the young girl said it had been handled and was used to being held... nope never had any interactions with humans took us months before she opened up, and over a grand in vet bills. Went back in today as I wanted to buy a male macaw to go with my female well the lady was so rude I will drive to Columbia and buy my birds from pets with attitude as she cares about her animals and treats each as if thier her own. Never seen a ride business owner until today I would not recommend wasting your time, energy or money here.

Love this store. Every time I go in there I find something that my bird just has to have! Purchased a hanging swing from there and it's Kenobi's favorite thing ever. Prices are very reasonable and they have a great variety of birds. Just wish they would carry Indian Ringnecks. :/

Great bird store. They have everything you need and so many different kinds of birds. I bought my daughter's spoiled rotten monster of a quaker parrot there about a year ago. Hopefully we'll be back to get him a friend soon.

Great selection of toys, cages and food for all size birds, took our Cockatoo in to be groomed (beak and nails) was told unless medically needed they do not do beak trim, filing or polishing. The nail trim i just wish they had better equipment.

I bought a "Pocket parrot" at Backyard treasure. First they told me it was a boy, but one morning there was an egg in the cage. I changed it's diet according to everything I read to accommodate the nutrients lost with egg laying. Second they told me it was approx. 3 yrs old and that a military family brought it in because the were being "shipped out". A total of 4 months and at least a thousand $'s worth of toys, food, cage, 4 foot Manzilla tree, etc etc later I woke up one morning and SHE was laying on the cage floor, passed away sometime during the night. A neighbor, who I barely know but has been rising birds her whole life came over and looked at the bird. I have no idea what she was looking at, but she looked for about 2 mins, at the feet, under breast, in its mouth, etc....and said "there is no way this bird is only 3 yrs old". I feel I was totally mislead to "make the sale". My 5 yr old grand-daughter was devastate. I called them the morning Lovey died and according to the woman who answered, a new owner had just taken over, the the older woman I bought it from was no longer there! I asked to speak to the new owner and all I got was "'we're sorry"....Never again.
