Richard and Carmen are great. Richard has a way with the dogs. He will correct a dog's behavior but does not believe in punishing a dog, instead emphasizes praising your dog. We went to the puppy class and the adult class with our dog. Highly recommend The Leash Connection.

Leash Connection has a great variety of high quality dog supplies (leashes, collars, food, treats, etc.) In their store. Additionally, my dog is in her second class there and I must say the training programs at Leash Connection is phenomenal. The classes that me and my pup have attended there are straight forward and no nonsense. Since training my dog at these classes, her level of overall obedience has vastly improved. I like the training there so much that anytime I interact with other dog others at the park I always recommend that they train their dog at Leash Connection. Overall, I have done a few obedience classes over the years, and the classes at the Leash Connection easily are much better than any other obedience training that I've have attended with my dog. In fact the first few classes me and my pup have taught me a ton of new techniques in just a few days that have made training my pup much easier than other obedience classes that I have been to in the past.

The leash connections has the best training for puppies. This is my puppy Zeus. We started training at 3 months and again at 4/5 months. Due to my personal reasoning training was always cut short. Mr Richard and Mrs Carmen were ALWAYS accommodating and helpful. I could call with questions and concerns that would be addressed. Today we had a 1 on 1 and a behavior I was concerned about arose. Mrs Carmen was able to show me how to handle this situation quickly and effectively. Mr Richard even followed up with me to assist further. I will take their training and apply it into our daily routine. I would definitely recommend them to anyone! If you not with the leash connection you truly missing out.

Lily and I attended an adult group class. I say “we” attended because as the owner, I was also a student. The owner has to be engaged in the training for it to happen at home. This was money well spent! Lily is more relaxed and is now an enjoyable walking companion. She also waits at the door for “ok” before entering and exiting and more.Lily is still nervous around people, so we’ll do a drop and train day to help her relax more, but a huge thank you to Richard for teaching gentle techniques to training our sweet girl!

My partner and I brought our 5 month old pup into The Leash Connection for the adult training class and it has CHANGED our lives. We were overwhelmed and confused by all of the information on the Internet and really needed structure to help our pup. Mr. Richard and Carmen love what they do and you can tell how passionate they are to help people have a good life with their dogs. Since training, my pup is more calm, and I look forward to continuing this training lifestyle.

I love this place. Richard and Carmen are fantastic! Not to mention that Richard is incredibly passionate about his task and you don’t find many people these days that are passionate about what they do. That alone is worth the trip to visit Richard and Carmen. They are truly dog whisperers! The training is on point, their dog food is fantastic, and the treats are great too. Just had my chihuahua mix attend classes. He has been a handful for sure since taking him in. This couple pours their hearts out training your pets. Some may not agree with training methods or thinking they are too strict or rough but best believe your pet would never be harmed here. Water bottle shuts them up, pinch collar helps maintain them and helps tremendously with training. So give this couple your support and have you and your dog trained. I typically do not like to write bad reviews about places and love to give them a couple of chances before deciding if I like them or not. At first, The Leash Connection was great and very accommodating. We missed the first group class, so they did a one-on-one which was great. When we started to do the group sessions, the owner/trainer made it very clear that due to my dogs breed, he was seen as aggressive and treated that way. He is a pit chow mix, although he is stubborn sometimes, he is the best dog I’ve ever had. He would never even hurt a fly. He is gentle and has never once shown any signs of aggression. The trainer said that my dog was acting like he wanted to hurt another dog in the group, so he yanked him across the room, with a choke collar on. My dog was just as terrified as I was. I had never seen him that scared before. His lips were quivering and he had tears in his eyes from being scared and in pain. Me being 17 at the time didn’t want to speak up, but another lady attending the class decided to. She could not believe my dog was treated this way and could not understand why he was being punished for looking at another dog while wagging his tail playfully. With that being said, would I recommend this place? Absolutely not. Has it gotten better since I’ve been there? Maybe, but I don’t know, because I refuse to go back there. I gave them two stars instead of one (which I wanted to do), because they were helpful in the beginning. I know my dog will mess up, just like everyone does, but there is no reason he should’ve been treated like that for no reason. I feel like the owner was very unprofessional in the way that he treated my dog, and I would never feel comfortable leaving any dog with that man. Also something that should be noted, I posted this review on their facebook page, and they took it down. I think that is why there are only positive reviews for this establishment. (This did happen over a year ago, but I just got the courage to post a review after talking to the highest rated dog trainer in South Carolina. She said this was dog abuse and that dogs should only be treated with positive reinforcements, never negative.)

I took my 6 month old Boston terrier puppy in for training. She was out of control since I had allowed bad behavior and habits. She is very funny and cute and I had let her get away with too much. If Richard can train a puppy in 2 sessions he must be magical. He taught me how to work with Molly and to place boundaries on her. He did not encourage or use any form of "abuse" or mistreatment of Molly. He was very patient with her but showed me how to correct some bad behavior. I am working with Molly as he taught me and she is definitely a better behaved puppy. Is she trained? No, but I am working on it as I was taught with good results. So, to each his own, but I am very pleased with the results of her training with Richard. Carmen was also helpful with advice to me! I say thank you for the classes, advise, and instruction. Molly actually seems happier with herself, and I am definitely happier!

Richard and Carmen are the sweetest people, I would leave Milo with them anytime. Not only the training works, they are very patient with Milo (and me..lol). Explain everything with demonstration that comes from years of experience. My rambunctious puppy now turn into an obedient boy (fast) when I give him the right command. Highly recommended Richard, the dog whisperer!

This was a very negative experience for me and my dog. The vulgar display of disrespect, aggression, and power was disgusting, not only towards me (a 37 yr old woman) but also my 1 yr old, vocal; herding dog. I won’t go into detail because I see how unprofessionally they respond. I am writing this review to help the next female with a young, energetic dog, that requires patience to train. This is not the trainer for you. The experience was so overwhelming that I left within 10 minutes before the class even began. I do not recommend this establishment for anyone who prefers POSITIVE training tactics or if your dog is energetic and requires patience. Pictured: a review from another customer. And the truth is, that man cornered my dog into a corner w a spray bottle then repeatedly walked an actual aggressive dog past my dog and I, multiple times, naturally my dog barked. She sat still until the other dog lunged at us. ALL within 10 minutes of being there.

Negative reinforcement training is cruel and by the looks of many of your reviews and from customers who've used your service, that is your tactic. Avoid this place if you have real love for your animals. Glad I found out before I let someone abuse my animal.
