We had a site visit at our home with Brian at Brownswood Nursery which was was very helpful. We just bought our house and Brian was able to identify and explain all of the trees and plants in our existing landscape as well as getting a plan together for the installation of a new landscaped area to compliment our existing landscape. We explained what we want to accomplish in the new landscaped area and he gave us the appropriate plants, trees and layout.

Highly recommend Brownswood Nursery and Landscape. We needed a complete redo of our front yard which was a mess of roots and pine straw. Brownswood’s comprehensive approach was exactly the right approach. Site visit, soil testing, face to face meetings to discuss ideas. Then color poster size drawings and video to help us visualize how things would look. The installation process over two days was very smooth and efficient. Enjoyed interacting with the team and watching the process.

Brownswood built an outdoor kitchen area and added landscaping for us. Keith was very helpful in the planning process and added some features that I had not considered. The Brownswood staff did a complete landscaping project for our property from design to installation. The project began with an on-site review of our property and really getting an idea of what we wanted. They designed a project and supplied us with both a scaled 2-D landscape plan as well as a virtual "fly over" 3-D video of what the project would look like. We made a few changes which they incorporated into the design. We were able to go to their Nursery and pick out specific trees, bushes, and plants which were tagged and held. The installation crew was phenomenal. We made a couple of minor changes and they had no problems getting them accomplished. They oversaw the subcontractors (concrete, palm trees) ands inspected all work as it was performed. We had a post project walkthrough where we were given care instructions. The entire staff was professional and kept us informed of all progress. We recommend Brownswood Nursery to anyone who is looking for quality landscaping.Service: Installation

From meeting Ryan at our initial consultation, working with him on a landscape plan, through to personally picking out our plants with him, all went very smoothly. This place is a gem! Not only do they have an amazing selection of plants and supplies, but the customer service is next level. Each person when above and beyond to answer my questions and help me find exactly what I was looking for. Even better, they had an amazing workshop, led by Hannah, all about indoor houseplants. I learned so much about different indoor plants and how to help them thrive. I cannot wait for more workshops and to spend more time visiting this amazing plant mecca.

Excellent selection with a friendly and helpful staff. I have been coming here for over 13 years and I come back every year to get healthy and reasonably priced plants. Good selection. My kids enjoy exploring their grounds. Their team has helped me solve plant issues too. We will continue to support this local gem.

Do not buy plants from them. They do not stand by their product and will not honor returns. We bought 14 plants from them and all but 12 died within 2 weeks! We are knowledgeable and responsible plant owners and know to mix soil properly, water correctly and not cover with pine straw. All of these are what Brownswood employees told us we did incorrectly which is not true. We will not return and will encourage our influential builder not to use them either.

When we decided that our John’s Island yard needed a complete overhaul after removing a large above ground pool and 2 decks, we contacted Brownswood Nursery. From the very beginning of the process we have been impressed with the professionalism, knowledge, responsiveness and friendliness of the entire staff especially Ryan, Mariah, Keith, Brendon, Jayson, Drew and Wilson. Their design fit our needs which included the installation of sod and plantings with all the plants to be perennials, low maintenance and fairly simple. The total installation took two weeks and at the end the transformation was more that we hoped for. We now have a truly beautiful yard which Brownswood Nursery will continue to help us maintain. We would highly recommend their services to anyone in need of landscaping assistance.

Great selection. It’s such a large place you have to take a Gator to get out to see many of the plants. Erin was awesome and extremely friendly. The value trees had a great price and it’s nice to know they are locally grown. We will definitely be back.

Brownswood's team turned my somewhat lacking patio into a spectacular small garden patio oasis. Upon initially visiting the nursery I frequent regularly I took the plunge and asked what they could accomplish in a small space. From the initial consultation where I laid out my needs I.e. types of plants, space constraints, intense afternoon sun I was assured that the team could accomplish all of the above.. I am so very pleased with the results. My garden patio is the first place I wander to in the mornings with a cup of coffee. It won't be long before the confederate jasmine is covering the pergola or the lantana and butterfly bush are attracting butterflies and hummingbirds. I had been "scouting" Brownswood Nursery for months in preparation for landscaping. We have new construction and were installing a pool, pool decking, and sidewalks in our front and back yards so I was preparing for A LOT of work to enhance our bare canvas. In my multiple visits to Brownswood I spoke with Jeremy and Tara, who were invaluable in providing their knowledge, expertise and patience in helping me make my choices. The entire project has finally come to fruition. The plants I selected look absolutely gorgeous and are perfect for our rather rustic and natural setting. I purchased 32 Platinum Beauty Lomandra, 18 pink sweet grass, 5 red oleander, 6 Sunshine Ligustrum, and 12 Cerise Charm Loropetalum, and planted them all myself. I could not be more pleased with the finished product. Thank you, Jeremy and Tara! The vision came true! I owe you a debt of gratitude! I also purchased a gorgeous Pindo palm that sets center stage by the pool. Brendan and Drew did a perfect job installing the palm and teaching me how to care for it. Many thanks to them as well! Obviously, I will be a repeat customer. I'm very impressed by the quality and health of the plants at Brownswood Nursery. It was an investment to choose you, but it was worth every penny. Hats off to Brownwood Nursery. Great job again. From our 2008 plan to the newest design and renovation last month. They truly are an amazing team from the discussion stage to planning, design and on to installation. Beautiful, meticulous work and the most pleasant employees. We have an extensive landscaping project requiring design, removal, drainage, hardscaping, irrigation, and plant/tree installation, among other things. Keith developed an amazing design plan with a level of detail and creativity that truly surprised and impressed us. The significant bonus of Brownswood having an extensive nursery to source the plants and show how they will look in the design made the process so much easier. Tom, Oscar, and Victor have done an amazing job with installation, and the landscape team in general have been great at coordinating so many moving parts and people and getting things done quickly. Large with a few interesting selections (some of the best Japanese maples in the greater Charleston area), but a strange feel permeates everything. The business appears confused. They have huge displays showcasing their very mediocre design-build landscaping projects, and literally everything is a good 10-20% more expensive than it should be, presumably because they offer discounts to way too many people. If you aren't getting 20% off everything you are buying, you are *way* overpaying.End of the day, there are far better places to spend money on plants than Brownwood.

I’ve been here twice- both times the staff has been unhelpful and lacking knowledge about the products they carry. Today the staff had to Google the difference between 2 plants because they were mislabeled and they didn’t believe me. They were brisk, rude, and spent so much time being snappy that they missed my question entirely and I left without answers. If plants are mislabeled and the staff doesn’t know the difference then I can’t trust that plants are what they say they are. I’ll save my money and go to another nursery in the area.

Brownswood does a great job! When we moved into our home last May, the bushes in front were out of control and the backyard looked like a jungle; crowded and overgrown.First Brownswood designed a comprehensive plan to replace or remove the existing bushes and shrubs, and to plant new growth in some areas. Then they showed their plan to us (a computerized presentation with amazing graphics!). They were responsive to our questions and receptive to our suggestions, and once we agreed on an overall plan they quoted a price that was very reasonable and appropriate.Special thanks to Wilson and Finn, who did the digging, uprooting, moving and planting. They are knowledgeable, fast-working, friendly and kept us informed every step of the way, offering suggestions and accepting changes we requested. We really appreciate their hard work!Our yard looks great now, and we have received numerous compliments from our neighbors. We did a full yard makeover. Irrigation system, planting and a tabby patio. Everything went well from working with Keith the designer to Brendan and his crew. They were quick and efficient. Folks at Brownswood are incredibly knowledgeable in what they sell and what works where. On my first visit I received the "kitchen" tour from Wyatt which was helpful in looking at all the options for our new house which had no landscaping. While I made in person choices for the items that I wanted planted, Brownswood did all the planting. This was another strong area for them, as all of this was completed when I was out of town. They were very helpful with site recomendations and with day of installation conversations and pics as to how things looked before finalizing the plantings. Brownswood Nursery recently completed a redo of our backyard landscape. It involved adding new hardscape and plantings all while reworking a 35-year-old yard. We have used Brownswood Nursery and Landscaping Design continually since we moved into our new home on Johns Island four years ago. We began with the design department, where Jeremy drew up the plans for all of our flowerbeds. Brownswood shaped and dug the flowerbeds and installed the agreed upon plants/bushes as well as mulch all of our beds. We have continued to use Brownswood Maintenance Dept. which has performed various installations of plants/bushes, additions to our Irrigation system and adjustment of the system to incorporate all new plants /bushes. Brendan and his team have always taken great care of us. Most recently the maintenance department pruned all of our bushes and moved several bushes that needed more space.My husband and I couldn't be more pleased with the prompt attention we received, the quality of the work or the professionalism of each person we have dealt with at Brownswood. They prepared a landscape design plan - we discussed the placement of new plantings and a new hardscape.The work was completed, on time, on budget and professionally.
