Please seriously consider before using this business. We recently used this business to handle our father’s estate. When communication and payment for the sold merchandise became a problem we started doing some serious research. We discovered that since 2021 the owner has been taken to court at least 11 times and had to settle multiple times. He also has multiple complaints against his license and has had to pay fines. We are now having to follow the same course of action.

The worst experience I have ever had with a vendor of any kind and I am 62. I am also well versed in auctions and how they are supposed to work. I consigned well over 5k in auction items to Lakelands auction in Hodges SC, which is near Greenwood SC. Kit Young and his small crew loaded up my items. Well over 500 items, most were small. Very few itemized on contract.. I only mention because Lakeland's has will use against you, if you ask where your item went..they will ask is item on your contract?Also was emailed info prior to pickup from Kit that advised internet & live …this did not happen with all items . I have should have had 1 auction and they combined my stuff with others at least 5 times over a period of several weeks..in addition, they sell a LOT of reproductions and fakes..Lakelands likes to combo real vintage (like mine) with fakes in the same auction.. fakes are carefully worded to walk the line on age..omission of not being period correct…the honest thing to do is denote as reproductions.. I also contacted them many times, and the replies would either not come or come weeks later., Responses… they were busy, read contract, or something i knew was not true..an example…. to my question on an item not auctioned..,they claim, they did many times and no sale. item referenced was wooden primitive chicken feeder that clearly auctioned..but not itemized on my contract.I gave Lakelands and Kit many opportunities to correct ..i have written only 3 or 4 negative reviews in my life timePlease note: my items were pu in mid November and it is now almost March and they still don’t have what they call my unsold stuff.Lakelands: poor communications, does not live up to written commitments, auctions fake items, poor customer service, on and on…Stay tuned.. I do not want anyone else treated like this.

My husband was traveling the day of the auction we were interested in bidding on. We did online. Everything was easy from bidding, paying and picking up items. They were communicated every step of the way and are very nice and professional people. My husband is very happy with the item he won and we look forward to more auctions. We plan to attend in person but would not hesitate to bid online if we could not be there.

I can not say enough GREAT things about Lakelands and it's staff. Cleaning out your childhood home is never fun, but Lakelands stepped in and lifted the weight of the world off our shoulders. They are extremely professional, knowledgeable, efficient and understanding. I highly recommend them, I don't know how we would have survived the task of cleaning out our parents home where they had lived over 70 years. To add injury to insult we were a family of collectors and my parents were both an only child after my uncles death in WWII. Needless to say we had LOTS of STUFF!

Not a good experience selling our items through this business. It took months to collect our money, and we were only successful after multiple emails to them.

They took a load off of us mentally and physically when we had to clean an estate out quickly. We didn't have to lift a finger. Highly recommend!

Mr. Young is not responsive , he has held my mother’s items on consignment for over a year since her husband passed away. She has tried multiple times to contact him to ask about the status and he indicated some of the items have sold. He will no longer respond, provide an itemization, or provide the commission owed. No response to calls or emails.

they bid against you meaning shill bidders,At the request of the auction company, this auction permits bids to be placed by the auctioneer, an employee of the auctioneer, or the seller or an agent on the seller's behalf. So, do not place a high proxy bid for they will bid you up to that amount.
