Such a great experience at Hotel Folly! We usually stay on the beach but wanted something different and dog friendly and it did not disappoint. The kitchenette is perfect for a long weekend stay and the beach chairs provided is such a nice touch. If you’re someone wanting to drop into a boat dock this is a perfect location for you. Also, SO walkable. We were at the beach in less than a 10 minute walk. The staff were so kind and responsive! Only caveat, the maid service definitely likes to throw laundry bags and cardboard boxes over the balcony (no shade) while they’re cleaning/restocking so just watch your head. It startled me the first time I heard it walking down the stairs. All in all highly recommend this property! Looking forward to staying here again and seeing what they’re adding to the ground level. Looks like maybe a restaurant or amenities? Guess we’ll wait and see!

We absolutely loved it here! Our room was clean and had everything we could possibly need and more!We never heard any noise outside of our room, no other guests, no traffic, etc.For being a pet friendly hotel, you really wouldn't know it because it didn’t have any traces of dogs, no smell, no pet hair, etc.I’m sure the LVP floors help with that.We walked to the beach and restaurants every day, multiple times a day. It’s close to everything, parking right on site, quiet location, I really have no complaints at all!!! We scoped out a lot of places before we decided to stay here and it did not disappoint! We are already trying to plan another trip.Beautiful sunset view if you stay on the west side of the building.Great place, very clean, very comfortable, safe and very nice staff!I’d stay at hotel Folly over and over again!

We really enjoyed our stay here , and loved the interior decor of our room. (Room 1) It had a cool retro theme, and was beautifully decorated. We felt like we were staying in a home, not a hotel room. The balcony was also very nice, it has a view of the folly river. The main street was also below so there is some traffic . The Hotel is within walking distance to downtown shops , beach and fishing pier, Also about 20 minutes to Charleston. Customer service was very helpful. Jennifer & Brittany were great with all of my inquiries during the booking process.Pet friendly is a plus since we brought our dog with us.

My husband and I are taking a quick getaway. I am blown away by the stellar customer service received so far. Everyone has been really responsive and courteous via chat and by phone call. As we entered our room, we instantly fell in love. The bed is comfortable, the room is immaculate and has everything that you need in a hotel. This is a small personal space that is giving us home away from home vibes. I’m loving it.Rooms: Spacious and cleanNoteworthy details: The art is a great touch

We absolutely love our time at Folly Beach and staying at Hotel Folly. It is in a perfect location. You can walk right down the street to eat or shop The rooms at Hotel Folly are very nice and very clean. If you need anything or have a question, the customer service is phenomenal. We’ve stayed at Hotel Folly three or four times and we will continue to go back One of the favorites is they are pet friendly and we can bring our precious Darla.

I loved staying here on a weekend during off season, the room was beautiful and the hotel is super funky and neat. I loved that I didn't have to interact with anyone on site. It is extra expensive- a non-refundable $100 cost just for my dog to join me, and $50 cleaning fee [is this not always part of getting a hotel?] that I sure as hell hope goes directly to the housekeeper, if anything. So aside from the extra $150 a night I was happy to be there.

Highly recommend staying at Hotel Folly. Extremely clean room with everything that you need for your stay. Plenty of towels, hair dryer, refrig and microwave. Our room had a couch and everything in our room looked brand new. Large room with large shower and we loved the white noise machine because at home we sleep with a fan so it was a nice added touch. We walked to everything on Folly Beach since it is very close walking distance to all the shops, restaurants and beach. We stayed on the top floor and the view was pretty. We will definitely stay here again.

We loved the layout and retro musical decor of the 1/1 with the eat-in/living room and balcony. Everything we needed was stocked. The king bed seemed like it was a California king. Nice to walk Folly to the pier, the shops and restaurants. Parking can be an issue. Twice we returned to find our clearly numbered spot taken, and only 1 spot left for us—no guest parking. The team was responsive to our email not to tow us!! There is a noise machine provided in the bedroom, however you can still hear the heaters kicking off and on from outside hanging on the walls. Guests upstairs with heavy feet can be heard, as well as their sliding glass door opening and shutting. The cops like to hang out in the entrance just that side of the bridge to catch speeders - every morning. We would stay here again, however I'll bring my sound machine which is much louder to drown out the noises to get some sleep.

This a great hotel on Folly Island! Recently returned from a 4 night stay along with my daughter in February 2024 and couldn't be happier with our experience. Prior to arrival the property managers communicated all the details of how to access the room and where to find things like the linens for the sleeper sofa. Our arriving flight landed 7 hours late and the keyless entry to the room along with having all the needed info about the room made it a breeze to get in and settled at 1:30 AM. The room (king deluxe studio with a deck) was spacious modern, clean with a nice artsy boutique vibe. There was also a full fridge, microwave and everything else we needed for our stay. The hotel itself is located right on the main strip and is a short walk to all that Folly has to offer, it is also a just a short ride to the attractions of Charleston. When we return we'll definitely book here again and will likely not bother venturing off of Folly Island...great times!

We stayed at Hotel Folly in room #7 and it was okay for a quick, last minute trip for 2 people, but wouldn't stay there again or recommend. Pros: The room is newly renovated with really cool decor, very nice and clean. The location is walking distance to all the bars/restaurants and the beach. We weren't bothered by the outside noise of music or cars, didn't really hear much at all. It is pet friendly as well. Cons: Not a lot of space for clothes and storage of other items. There was a tall closet that was split to hang clothes on one side and shelves on the other, but it's small. The hanging option was tough to reach if you're short (I'm 5'3"), sounds silly but true. Noise from the room above us was significant, people were stomping around for hours at a time. This was reported to management and they responded quickly but nothing changed; I realize loud people are out of the hotel's control but the structure itself allows for noise in lower rooms. I was disappointed in the view - the description on their website states it has a river view, but that is not accurate. The room overlooks the marsh on one side and a parking lot on the other. While outside working on the porch, the cleaning crew started hosing down the porch above, and the water all flowed onto our porch, had to move really quick to get everything out of the way. Management was made aware and were very apologetic, hopefully they put a better practice in place for cleaning in the future to notify those in the room below.

Found Hotel Folly as a last minute decision to stay at the beach for a couple of days we were in Charleston, so everywhere else was sold out. WOW am I glad that it worked out that way. This type of hotel may not be for everyone, but I love the boutique style and feel of it. I would definitely stay here again!PROS: The rooms are all newly remodeled with modern, gorgeous bathrooms. The bed was very comfortable and having a kitchen really came in handy (mostly for the fridge!). It has a very hippie / bohemian feel that you have to see to understand, but it is unique and is really fun. We were able to walk to the beach in about 7 or 8 minutes, a little less to the shops and restaurants, so thought the location was great, especially when compared to the prices of places closer in. LOVE the no hassle check in, with the code on the door, you just go straight to the room. There is no "lobby" or anyone on staff there, so more like a condo in that regard, but when I had a question I emailed the person and got a very quick response.CONS: If you have mobility issues, it could be tough as there is no elevator (and 4 floors). There is a wheelchair lift to the second floor where rooms are handicap accessible, but if you just have trouble walking you may want to make sure you are on a lower floor. And the only thing I noticed that I was a LITTLE disappointed in is, if you stay in one of the middle rooms all of the windows are like little square portholes that are about 6 feet high. I'm 5'6" and had to stand on my toes to see even the bottom few inches out of the window, so while the views are probably great, all I could see was sky and a really pretty magnolia tree. Didn't impact the stay, just wanted people to know when they advertise "views" that isn't exactly true for middle rooms.

Briana has excellent customer service skills and was a delight to deal with. The room is just as cute as can be with a rock and roll theme and truly had everything we needed. The ladies who slept on the sofa sleeper said they would have been more comfortable sleeping on the steps (😮 yikes!). It was a bit over priced for what we got but I'll chalk that up to the holiday weekend. I would recommend it for 2 people but for the 4 of us (ladies) it was tight quarters.

Extremely disappointed with the staff and management at this hotel. Whatever you do make sure you "always book travel insurance" because even if you have an EXTREME medical emergency this small hotel will not give you a dollar back. It's crazy how the world is today. Noone ever does what's right anymore. I will never book this hotel again and will make sure that friends and coworkers do not as well.
