After paying out the nose at a very expensive restaurant where flavor was missing in most of the food, what a refreshing experience to eat at a beach shack with great tasting food at reasonable prices. Honestly, the food here will surprise you. House salad with shrimp and a ginger sesame dressing was fresh and very tasty. Fish tacos were light and flavorful. The Cuban sandwich was a riff on the theme, filled with excellent, smoky pulled pork and a delicious hot honey mustard. The fresh housemade potato chips were honestly addictive. Well done burger with bacon and cheese was still juicy and tasty, and accompanying salad was very fresh. All in all a really nice experience with helpful staff and a fun, easy-going atmosphere.

Be aware this place doesn’t provide free tap water and your only option is to purchase a $1.50 bottle of water. I thought regulations required liquor-serving venues to provide free tap water. Our waitress didn’t really speak to us, so we were not notified of this supposed policy beforehand.Very nice atmosphere though! I would definitely go back for the food but just bring my own water bottle next time!

Great service and nice variety, but the food is really expensive for what you get. We were super hungry, had onion rings and pickles deep fried, they were great and came out quickly—-but servings were small. 2 fish tacos, $15 and they charge you for salsa. They don’t give you one to begin with. $160- for 5 people with 3 drinks and 2 cocktails.

Enjoyed lunch here on Sunday during a beach day at Edisto. The ladies running this place really do a great job taking care of everyone. They asked us to be patient as things may move a little slower but the service and thine to get our food was wonderful. The shared picnic table seating was so comfy and actually encouraged conversation between parties which is really missed nowadays.The fried mushrooms were a healthy serving and man were they good. When the basket came out , we thought no way can we eat all those and then POOF! they were gone. House chips were amazing, some crunchy and some more soft potatoey bites. Not to be forgotten was the tasty mango margarita! We will be back

Stopped in for lunch after a morning on the beach. They had a wait but have a bar area to sit and relax while you do wait. You can buy drinks at a bar outside and chill out. Food and drinks were good overall. I did have to get up and get another drink. We were told they were short staffed. But everyone in the restaurant was checked on but us after we got our food. I'd give it another shot! Bartender was nice, and staff seemed like they liked their job.

CUTEST little restaurant on the island! The staff was so friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was so fun especially on a warm summer night!My party of 5 ordered:(Appetizer) Onion Rings 10/10!!!!(Appetizer) Chili Cheese French Fries 9/10The Edisto Cuban Sandwich 7.8/10Chicken Sandwich (fried chicken, mild sauce with honey mustard) 10/10!!!!- next times I would go without the mild sauce and just put the honey mustard in the sandwich. The fried chicken was incredible!Fish Tacos (Fried Flounder) 7/10- Founder was delicious, but wanted a bit more seasoning and flavor!Fish Tacos (Blackened Mahi) 6/10- Wished the Mahi had a bit more seasoning and some salsa to add onto the tacosWe are absolutely coming back!!

By far one of the most delicious meals I've had in a good while. The food was fresh and super delicious, the staff was extremely friendly and courteous! The dessert was to die for. We live locally and after tonight, this will be one of our spots to eat at from now on. My husband and I are very happy we decided to eat here!Vegetarian options: You can choose what you do and don't get in your meals and the veggie options to add to your taco or quesadillas are plentiful.Kid-friendliness: We don't have kids but id bring them with me if I did.Wheelchair accessibility: There were numerous ramps in and out of the restaurant. I recommend to anyone who wants a great dining experience and are looking for access to the dining area via wheelchair accessible ramps.

This review is for Take Out Only. I have eaten there several times, and it has always been good. I got takeout for my family, and it was not good. We got the fish and chips platter ,the shrimp and chips platter, and added 2 crab cakes. The fish came out overcooked, greasy, and floppy. The crab cakes were burnt. The shrimp and onion rings were not bad. My whole family felt sick later that evening and one of us threw up that night. They also added a 15% 'take out' charge without notifying us ahead of time. I would recommend them for dining in, but definitely don't get any fish to-go.

The food was great, Came out hot and extremely fresh! The staff was awesome! There was a table that had some '5 not so nice' people sitting at it extremely rude, loud, and obnoxious and the staff didn't let it bother them in front of us other guest they remained very patient and polite with the people at the table. The restaurant it self was awesome, the walls all had funny signs and pictures, the outside seating had a great set up. Would be a super fun place to visit again in the warmer months.

This was a very cool place to have lunch. Quiet little joint with lots of decor and a very friendly staff. Kid friendly and they had a cool "search and find" for kids throughout the restaurant. The wings were good and the Cuban sandwich was awesome. My wife said it was the best she's had! Quick service and easy in and out.

We came back to this restaurant yet again and werent disappointed at all. The tacos, the burgers, the wings, the beers were all worth it. The blackened tacos were awesome and is worth a special mention. They have chicken, mahi mahi and shrimp options. The service was great. We were a pretty large group and were well taken care off. There is a park right next to this restaurant for kids to hang out as well. Overall, I would definitely repeat.

My wife and I ordered take out from here twice since we've been in Edisto and they didn't disappoint. Their food was awesome. She ordered the mahi fish tacos and loved them, a little spicy. I got the fish and chips the first time and the fish tacos the second time around and both tasted great. We also got the Nachos ATW and those were excellent. We will definitely be coming back for more.

If you are new to Edisto Beach, you need to eat at McConkey's. Most would never pick it, or even find it, without a recommendation. It sits in an old grocery store parking lot. The wood framed structure looks a bit out of square, probably from one too many hurricanes. The front door is on the opposite side from where you will park.But, the food is great, and the staff friendly. The decor is, well, "islandy." Imagine a collection of oddities washed up on the beach, or discarded by old boaters, then cleverly repurposed. No expense has been taken to make this place look like an ordinary restaurant. I really like it.I've never been on a weekend during high season. I'm sure it would be crowded then. But, try lunch on a weekday, or anytime in the off-season. when you go, you must try the homemade onion rings. Excellent.

My whole family enjoyed this small beach restaurant. I was able to find a gluten-free burger here and when I ordered the bun they made sure to ask if I had an allergy. Very considerate. My burger was delicious and my family also ordered wings, fried flounder sandwich and a cheese quesadilla. Server was super friendly and even offered some advice on what to do while we were in town. Overall I am very happy with McConkeys!

First timer here. First of all, there is only 1 restroom that is outside. I had to wait 10 mins to get in. For food, I had chicken wings. It was really bad. Felt frozen, and it tasted weird. They also put my chips on top of the wings, so it was soggy when i got them.

The food was good but not excellent. I had what was supposed to be the best burger on the island but I have eaten many burgers that are better than the one from McConkey's. On the plus side the chili on the burger really good. My son had the shtimp basket and said it was nothing special. The cocktails were uninspired. My wife had the fish tacos and enjoyed them.Other customers that entered after us were served before us. This place is tiny and seating is very crowded.The artwork on the tables by local artists is kind of neat if you like that sort of thing.When we return to Edisto, McConkey's is not on our short list of places to eat.

It was one of the most recommended spots on the island and rightfully so. With indoor (screened in patio) and outdoor seating, we had our choice of atmosphere, and the food was delicious. We server was very attentive, as well. If you're on Edisto, this is worth checking out.
