Our party of 9 had the best experience at Ella & Ollie’s. Service was quick and the staff worked as a team to make our time enjoyable. We ordered bread and ricotta, Brussels, and the grit balls. They were superb. We had a variety of food ordered from the burger to the special, shrimp, short ribs and ribeye. Everyone left satisfied and stated that this was our favorite restaurant out of the 6 we had on the island this week.Kid-friendliness: They had variety on the kids menu: chicken tenders, pb and j, burger, and they were good sized portions

I followed a foodie recommendation from Food Network’s Kardea Brown and visited Ella & Ollie's for my final supper on Edisto Island. If you’re looking for a nice dinner in an upscale environment, this is the spot for you. It is off the beaten path, located within The Plantation Course at Edisto. Incredible menu!! Ella & Ollie’s uses local fresh seafood, as well seasonal produce for their dishes so the menu changes frequently based on the current season and availability.I started out with the Marsh Hen Mill Grit Puppies as an appetizer. Marsh Hen Mill’s grits are milled right here on Edisto Island, so again… very local. 😊 These grit puppies had the best crispy sensation when I bit into them. These are packed with so much flavor from the smoked cheddar and andouille sausage. The pepper jelly added a sweet touch, providing amazing balance of flavors. I was amazed with how creamy the grits were too. Sooo delicious! Then, I went with the Edisto Shrimp Cakes because I’ve never seen that offered on a menu before. Edisto Seafood shrimp (notice the local trend? 😋), preserve lemon and butter pea perloo, citrus butter, and a green tomato chow chow. Unbelievable! 🤤 And, the presentation blew me away. Such a gorgeous dish and it is as yummy as it looks.I made sure to sample my cousin’s BBQ Shrimp as well because they were featured in Southern Living. The sauce is quite unique and is definitely what makes this a solid dish and the shrimp…sooooo tender. It’s easy to see why this is Kardea’s favorite dish. Nothing is better than fresh shrimp.Ellie & Ollie’s is top notch all the way around. Melissa and the staff took wonderful care of us. So hospitable and friendly! Such an incredible dining experience.11/10 amazing!

AMAZING food!!! Best place to eat in Edisto Island, HANDS DOWN! We loved it so much that we went twice on our trip. Definitely do not miss out on this spectacular restaurant. I had the E&O Salad (house salad), and it was AMAZING. I had the special of the day both times I went - first time was a mild fish called Wahu, and it was amazing, and the second time was a mild fish called Grouper, and it was out of this world. Several of my family members got the Lamb pizza and it was amazing. Also, the service there is amazing. The first time we went it was on a weekday, and it was very quiet and romantic. The second time was on a Saturday, and it was much more crowded, and a few tables was noisy, but we still had an amazing time. I 1000% recommend this place!!

Ella and Ollie's hosted a very special event for us earlier this month. I had several special requests for the event including bringing in entertainment and a video presentation for guests that would be arriving from across the country. Every request was generously granted and the event could not have turned out better. The owners and all of the staff were 100% focused on our guests and their enjoyment. And the food, oh my gosh! Our guest's are still Raving! I am forever grateful to Katherine, Paula and their very professional staff for making our event an unforgettable once in a lifetime experience for our guests. I can't wait to get back to E&Os to enjoy their hospitality once again!

Great food! Really different! Loved our waiter whose wife is a chef and pitched in during COVID, when his day job is a landscaper. Hats off to you. Hard to find. Have to go in the Wyndham entrance. Be aware that GPS takes you to a dead end street. Go all the way around to get to the gate. Worth finding. Not cool to be told we should tip the kitchen staff. You should pay them what they are worth and not make the patrons tip them. Not classy at all.

Our first night on Edisto Island Beach we had dinner at Ella & Ollie's. From the time we walked in we were greet by the host. A very pleasant older gentalman. Our server Chris was awesome, even though he was busy with other tables we never felt neglected. In two months we have visited four Wyndham properties and there restaurants. This one is hands down the best restaurant. We highly recommend this place for dinner. Supporting local eatery's and you will never be disappointed.

We had a fantastic experience between our amazing waiter to the delicious well seasoned food. Would absolutely recommend and go back, and may even make the trip down from Charleston just for dinner sometime! We started with the soup of the day which was a jalapeño cheddar clam chowder which we had to take an additional bowl to go it was so good. The she crab was just okay, the chowder was money. For our entrees we had the bacon wrapped meatloaf which was the best my boyfriend has ever had. Almost brought a tear to his eye. Not because it was like his moms meatloaf, because it was 17795x better than it. I had the red fish special which was on top of a bed of dirty rice and this magic red sauce that I forget what it was. Doesn’t matter though, it blew my mind and I cleaned my plate. Phenomenal experience!!!

3 years later and still very good! I give them 5 stars yet again! Wait staff was very friendly and prompt, food arrived in a very timely manor. The price is perfect for the location (beats driving to a restaurant in Charleston for mediocre food). I will visit again can't wait for more of these delicious entrées!

Best restaurant on the island. Others take note! Fish does not have to be deep fried and overcooked! It is in fact delicious on its own when prepared correctly. Goat cheese appetizer was delish, trout and shrimp & grits were tasty. Would go back, would recommend (esp given other options 🙄).

The atmosphere is wonderful, prices are reasonable considering prices of chain restaurants and service was great! A bit of a wait for food but it came out perfectly portioned and tasted fresh to order. My husband and i will be returning again soon!ps this was an anniversary dinner for the two of us 😊😊😊Edit (3 years later)Still a good establishment! The food is excellent, wait staff is wonderful, service impeccable. Yes it is still pricey but it is worth it! You can't get any better. I see people complaining about "how long it takes to get food" but do you really want microwave food from other chain restaurants? These people take their time to grill and cook the food. Also the comments about gnats and flies outside on the outside deck area, what do you expect, you are outside its nature if you can't handle it take yourself inside. If you still don't like the inside take yourself to a lower quality restaurant and have nasty food. Great job Ella and Ollies keep up the great work! Definitely will return again you guys do not disappoint!

My family and I were visiting from Charlotte, NC and decided to dine in at Ella & Ollie’s this weekend. This is an elegant and classy place. Service was great, I would recommend eating here any day.

If you would love a date night, and to put on something other than shorts and a bathing suit, also a place more upscale, than this is the place to go. It is pretty pricey and the portions are small compared to other restaurants on Edisto but the food is good, not excellent. The service was very good. This was our last dinner stop during our vacation week on Edisto. We may try it again when returning for vacation just for the ambiance of the place and a date night. I ordered their special which was quail. It came deep fried which I hadn't realized. I wouldn't get it again. My husband ordered the shrimp cocktail, very good and the scallops of which there was a small amount compared to The Waterfront Restaurant also $10 more than them. My husband said they were good but not as good as he had "other places".I will post pics of our meals.

A must try if you visit Edisto. We made reservations for dinner and from the moment they answered the phone, we knew we were going to have a great experience. The staff is so friendly and accommodating that we felt right at home from the moment we walked in. Our table was ready when we arrived and we were able to place our order right away. Every single dish we had that night was outstanding. We started the night a very tasty jalapeno raspberry Rita, followed by calamari that was perfectly done and a delicious waygu beef carpaccio. For the main course we ordered the E&O burger, the Oyster skillet, an arugula salad with shrimp, and a pepperoni pizza from the kids menu. Every single dish was amazing and the portions are very generous. We ended the night on a super high note, enjoying the bread pudding we ever had. Thank you E&O for a wonderful end to our first visit to Edisto. You made us want to come back very soon.

Great place to eat!!! Awesome owners beautiful Island, the greatest sunset. I had the pork chop, I've also had the shrimp and grits from here pretty much speechless the pork chop was cooked to perfection the mashed potatoes were kind of toasted on the outside with a little crisp and with bacon and chives too good, and the collards it didn't need any Texas Pete I tell you that. The whole meal is absolutely perfect they just got through playing a golf tournament so it was definitely busy but the service was awesome the people were great and I definitely plan to visit again with the family and maybe even play around to golf so if you're in the area or if you ever come down to Edisto definitely try out this place even a few times if I was you.

Delicious! We visited for a double birthday celebration for our daughters, and were treated wonderfully by Ellie and Abby. The filet was truly fantastic, and the short rib was the best I'd ever had.

My hosts are Edisto "locals" and were tight with the previous chef PB who passed. His protégé took over and kept a few of his mentor's specialties on the menu. Under the "for the table" section, PB's Butterbeans. A little trough of Butterbeans came out and everyone scooped 4 or 5 forkfulls onto their bread plates. Can't tell you why, but those were the best damn beans I've ever had. The larger dish of fried Brussel Sprouts, same. Just for Starters. Then everyone got their orders at the perfect time, as we were picking pecan bits off the spoutes plate, and the orders of NOLA style BBQ Shrimp, my shrimp and grits, and the fried oysters someone got, the fried flounder the other two guys had and a mahi and clams dish were enjoyed through great conversation and wine and spirits. One of the best meals I've eaten since a dinner in pre-Katrina New Orleans 20 years ago. They stock a great many locally brewed beers, ales, and ciders. They have a full bar and high chairs. Not at the bar, but for kids you may bring along. I didn't see a kids menu, and the $25 pizzas sounded delicious, but my kid wouldn't have thought so. The place is inside some gated community or resort but don't let that keep you from them butterbeans! Just tell whoever is at the guard shack, "We're here for the beans."

We ordered a starter, drinks, entrees, and desserts, and everything was fantastic! The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is very nice. I don't think this place has a dress code, but it feels like a less casual place, so I felt out of place with my shorts and t-shirt. Our waitress didn't bring us any napkins, so we had to grab some from a nearby empty table. We would definitely visit again in the future, though. We want to try more of the dishes!

After years of wanting to try Ella and Ollies, we finally made it last night, but man was it disappointing. We were seated and it took about 10 min to even be acknowledged by our server. That was ok, she was clearly “in the weeds” and we were not in a hurry. Had the negative ended there, we’d of been happy. But the inattentive service continued for the entire meal. She took my hisband’s drink order, came back 5 min later, looked at him, and said “I’ll be back w your tea”🙄. We finally ordered and about 10 min later she came back w a confused look and asked “you ordered appetizers”? No we said…we ordered dinner. Oh right she says. It was like they took a passerby off the street and gave her an apron. I ordered the mahi special which was delicious, though the fish portion was on the small side. The big disappointment was my husband’s Cheshire Pork Chop. It started out tender and then about a third of the way in it got tough as nails. The server asked if she may take his plate and away she went. She came back w his plate a few minutes later, set it down, and said the manager would either remove it or discount it. He didn’t eat anymore. Then 10 min later she came back and asked “Did she come talk to you”? No. She finally cleared the plates. Since he hadn’t eaten much he was thinking about dessert, but it was never offered, she just brought the check. The pork was discounted by 25%🙄. No farwell, no thanks for coming….we felt like she couldn’t care less that we were there. Maybe we just hit a bad night. The reviews seem to be fantastic or similar to our experience without much in between. We both worked in the industry for years back in the day, so we can understand slow service when a server is too busy, but the lack of friendliness and care by her and the management make it likely we will stick with our usual favorite spots here.

Just tragic! We were seated and ordered drinks- it took 30 mins to get cocktails. I even went to the bar to check on our drinks! The waitress may have visited our table 4 total times. Everyone around us received bread- none for us. Our soup and appetizer came before our cocktails. Our entrees were fine but nothing more. Entrees came and no dishes had been cleared. But by golly our bill came quickly and was processed quickly! We ordered dessert to go and just sat there another 20 minutes while several tables seated at the same time left!We come to Edisto every year but we certainly won’t be going back to this restaurant. So very disappointed. Do not reccomend!

Lovely place for a quick lunch. The tacos are fresh and delicious, served on corn tortillas as a taco should be--not on flour tortillas like the other places on the island seem to do theirs.I had the shrimp taco and the seared tuna taco. Both were wonderful, but I definitely think the time is superior! Perfectly prepared tuna with a rare center, the toppings compliment it perfectly. I had the Day of the Dead amber ale, it was good but not amazing. I'd guess the beers change from time to time. Nothing on tap, but they'll give you a cold glass to put pour into. It's located in the Windham property, by the golf course, but is open to the public--just get a pass at the guard shack on your way in.Service was super fast at lunch and prices are reasonable.

We were seated outside and waited about 15 minutes to even be greeted by a server. Then it took another 15 minutes to get our bottle of wine. The service continued down the same path for the rest of the night. Extremely slow. We were finally brought our waters when were halfway through the starters. Our food was cold and lacked much flavor. It's like we were just forgotten, even though there were two other tables seated out there with us. We were actually sitting in the dark for awhile until someone finally remembered to turn the lights on. My wife had to return her main and ask for it to be removed from our bill because it was basically flavorless. In short, it was an overpriced, disappointing evening. It's like this place knows they have a captive audience and, as the only "fancy" restaurant on the island, can make whatever quality food they want and charge whatever they want for it and people will just pay it. One high note was that our server (when we saw her) seemed like she was working really hard and was extremely pleasant.

Came with a large party for a dinner out with a reservation. Had to wait a long time for anyone to come to the hostess stand, had to wait a long time for anyone to bring menus, had to wait a long time for drinks, for food, for everything. The menu was creative but seriously overpriced for the resulting plates. After putting in orders, we easily waited 45 minutes for our main dishes to arrive, in a room that wasn’t crowded with diners. By the time they did come, the $21 burger was room temperature, the grits under the $31 flounder were cold and congealed, and no substitutions on the menu could be made as all items were cooked “as is” aka code for batch made and put under heat lamps. The saving grace to this meal was our awesome server (who was obviously doing her best on a short staffed night) and the deviled eggs with friend oysters on top.If you want actually good food worth a trip out, go somewhere less pretentious and better prepared to serve dinner.
