BEWARE IF YOU’RE COMING HERE TO WORK THEY CURRENTLY HAVE A BED BUG INFESTATION! Started working here 4/2/24 and there was no issues whatsoever that week. Came in today 4/8/24 and was doing some computer work in the office and started itching uncontrollably. The store manager claimed it could’ve been dust mites on the keyboard or desk but as I started to examine myself I noticed my skin was red and inflamed all along my neck line and chest. Then I started checking my shirt and a flat brown bed bug was crawling up my shirt! Anyone with brain and an education level passed the 4th grade should be able to identify what a bed bug looks like! The store manager was so nonchalant and calm about it acting as if she didn’t even know what it was. So since she clearly had no fear of them I told her to take it off my shirt and discard it since she seemed to be very comfortable. Me on the other hand I PANICKED IMMEDIATELY! It only takes one to cause a infestation and once I told her what it was she started placing blame on their operations manager claiming she was the only one in the office that day before us which was weird. Why even bring this woman up to me. It was very messy and unprofessional. Since she was so calm and was quick to shift the blame I automatically assumed at that point they had to have come from her home. Even after all that me being a decent human I called to quit and apologize for panicking in the middle of the store even though no one was in the store and she told me she was gonna fire me either way because of my reaction. Sounds insane right! Because I reacted to getting bitten up by bed bugs IN YOUR STORE you were going to try and fire me. I let her know I was quitting either way and hung up the damn phone. They make you train on retaliation and harassment in the workplace and my second week this lady tries to retaliate against me for being shocked that my skin was bitten up. I guess she skipped that part of the training. All and all don’t waste your time here. $11.50 an hour as an assistant manager ain’t worth your time nor is getting ate up and having to possibly pay for exterminating your home. I stripped down in the bathroom and changed my clothes but left that shirt it was crawling on right in their trash can!

The store is clean. while I shopped I loaded my shopping cart with items and I could hear the employees talking. They were all gathered at the front registers, and as I shopped, the language was horrible coming from each of them. They had no respect for the people in there who may not have cared for the way they were carrying on. I decided quickly that I did not want to give my hard earned money to a store that allowed their employees to talk so filthy while customers were in the store. What kind of manager was it on shift who would allow such talk. Not one who deserves to be a manager, I can tell you that. I will take my business elsewhere.

I wasn't given all the things I planned tried Calling over and over to no avail. Called another dollar general in Edgefield and they helped me. CHECK YOUR BAGS BEFORE LEAVING
