First and foremost one must understand animal activists must fight legislation and those who govern. This facility is understaffed and overcrowded with animals. When an activist wants to fight this shelter they MUST TAKE those animals to their personal homes for care! The catch and release of animals is NOT proper, yet this is what this facility is doing.

They took great care of my dads dogs when my dad passed away because he lived in s.c. alone. They kept the 2 dogs until someone in the family could get there to take the dogs home.

this animal shelter is, by far, the worst I've ever come across. the last 5 times I've tried to take dogs dumped off in front of my yard, I've been told no for different reasons. usually they're full is the excuse. yet, the 'dog catcher' is conveniently out of the office each time, getting dogs. well, if you're over capacity, where are the dogs going that Randy is 'out getting'? or is he doing something different. just do your job. It really isn't that difficult.

Cushy job if you can get it. Not sure Animal Shelter Director actually works here even though hours are posted on building and prior arrangements to pick up microchip were discussed. This is 4th time being here that I was not able to be helped though apparently they are open. Poor dogs and cats!

Great staff as always. So kind. Took out all the dogs my son wanted to see. Even a couple more than once! Very patient people. Got my baby boy a dog today. Very affordable and they make sure they are up to date at the vet when adopted including spaid/neutered. Here's our boy Ice!

They were very helpful in helping me with a kitten that was dropped off. Unfortunately they are full and the animals there could use a forever home. If you're looking for a dog or cat please consider adopting a shelter animal they can really use a family to call their own.

I really want to give the shelter a better review, but I simply can’t. I was at the shelter in Feb of 2017 and adopted and sweet puppy (she was in the first room before you even get to the kennels) I went back a few weeks ago and what I saw was absolutely horrifying. I am an animal lover, I always have been and to see these animals in such distress and disgusting living conditions just broke my heart. There was blood splattered in a kennel. They were filthy. They were packed (2-3 dogs per kennel) no way for an animal to live. Not to mention how many of them look so thin that they look like they could pass away any minute. I tried to get one out of a kennel to see her and possibly foster her and she sat in the back corner of the kennel and cried. She wouldn’t come out. Some so thin you could see every bone in their face and body. I makes me sick and so upset to know how these dogs are stuck living in these conditions. I’m not quite sure how no one else has tried to report what’s going on. Who do you contact about an animal shelter run by the county??? I’ve contacted rescue groups from all over the country to try and get this place shut down. It breaks my heart that this is the life these poor innocent animals have to live. Something needs to be done about this cesspool and whoever runs this place needs to think of a new career because the well being of these animals is clearly not in the right persons hands.

Where we live there is an excess of stray dogs, we went in and talked to them about these dogs and they told us to please bring them in. So we've been bringing them in. They all looked unhealthy and we were worried. Our situation changed and we wanted to help out and foster a dog, we were told because we brought in those strays we weren't able to foster. They told us we had to have a "walk through" which we agreed to, they never showed up, we haven't heard anything. Since when are you punished for doing the right thing? I have adopted from them before, an unhealthy looking pitbull/boxer (who's name they couldn't even get right, I was given 2 different names), she is now a beautiful healthy little girl, they have even commented on how well she looks. We just want to give another baby the love and attention we've given her. We will never go back.

Too many dogs in 1 pen. They need to separate them to reduce their stress to no more than 2 per pen. They have a lot of inmates there, but who's doing the work? It took me forever to get out of there. No one appeared to know what was going on. A lot of chaos, too many "bosses" without enough workers.

It wasnt very clean. And the smell was almost unbearable. When I got my dogs from there, it took weeks of washing to get the stench off of them
