I live in the community and have not yet learned my lesson about the return policies here. Do not buy anything as a gift unless you explain very specifically to the recipient to stick with their limited 30-day exchange policy, even with a receipt. I have lost money several times on gifts for my family that didn’t fit or that they didn’t like. We recently lost $139.99 plus tax on shoes that are too small. My Mother believed that with a receipt, she could exchange them for a larger size when she found time to go. My Brother is an Eagle Scout, and they offer a discount, but even though he received the discount there before, he has to have the card with him each time, and he doesn’t carry that around. I support local small businesses, but I’ve been burned several times and will not shop here again. Be forewarned before you buy.

There was that ONE item on myDaughter’s Christmas list that I couldn’t find anywhere!!! Google sent me to Elkmont Trading and lo and behold they had it! An all white Patagonia pull over! I was hesitant about ordering because being in Illinois I had never heard of this place! It was my only option sooo order submitted! 6 days later is arrived! Elkmomt Trading thanks for saving Christmas for me 😊

I drove 11 hrs from NJ to by a kayak here. Super nice people. Super nice store. TONS of stuff in here. They took their time to help me and I even got. new seat for my old kayak which i had been searching forever for!

It may have been an off day, not really sure. Elkmont is a beautiful store with beautiful merchandise. The store is always neat, clean & very inviting. But today customer service was much to be desired. I came in to shop for a pair of shoes for a upcoming trip. There were 4-5 employees standing around chatting oblivious that there were customers that needed help. Another customer looked at me & said "I don't think there really interested in selling us a pair of shoes. They are more interested in talking." I had to get there attention to get a shoe in my size. Which they did, the gentleman sat them down & walked off. I needed guidance on sizing etc. I did find my size but decided to leave the shoes & leave. I can order online from Amazon or directly from Keen & Teva. When someone is coming in & potentially spending $100+ on products a little customer service & attention goes a long way.

My grandma has been looking for the viral "On Cloud" shoes. She wants a specific pair that hasn't been in stock anywhere. It is hard to narrow down a location online, as Google mostly sends you to the large chain stores - but we didn't want to travel that far. Elkmont Trading company had what she wanted! Unfortunately, they didn't have her exact size, and literally everywhere is out of stock online, but they still had the shoe when no one else did! Super great customer service, too!! We will be back!

**BEWARE ONLINE BUYERS** I am not someone to write reviews, good or bad... but unfortunately, the utter lack of customer service from this company has pushed me to my limit.I ordered an article of clothing from them almost 2 months ago. This was shipped via USPS, and never made it. I have security cameras that verified the mailman never dropped this delivery off. I checked with my postman, and he verified he never had the package or delivered it. I reached out to this company for some form of resolution. Essentially, I was told it was not their problem and to pound sand. Repeatedly, they took no responsibility or offered any help and instructed me to go file a claim with USPS on my own time, when in my opinion, send a replacement or reimburse me and make your own business claim ... THATS customer service. When I got nowhere with USPS, I filed a dispute with my credit card company for undelivered services. This company proceeded to lie to my bank and say that the item was in fact sent and received so my claim was denied. I reached out to them again requesting a refund after jumping through hoops, and SURPRISE SURPRISE... no response. A simple response could have negated this negative review.Yes, you might have some form of in person customer service per your other reviews... but non local buyers BEWARE. You won't want to purchase online and deal with the complete lack of customer service outside of their store front.

Customer Service with Elkmont is above and beyond! I placed an order for a pair of boots and sent a message late in the evening asking if there was any way I could have these shipped over night (at my expense) for an event. Not only did they respond almost instantly, they were able to get them shipped out the following morning! Wish I wasn't out of state so I could shop in store with them!

Purchased a fishing kayak from these guys and let me just say that I highly recommend doing business here.The staff is knowledgeable, friendly and more than willing to go the extra mile. I requested pictures of a 2 kayaks that were stored and racked, the email came with great pics in a very timely fashion.After 2 visits and both ending after official close of business, all I can say is I'm impressed.Just good folks, and a great atmosphere.Thanks Dustin, you and your team we're awesome.

Nice, well lit, well decorated and appealing to the eye. The prices sometimes seem a bit high, especially when comparing to online prices of the items, but the store owner is wonderful and very knowledgeable about products. The sales associates are also always very knowledgeable, cheerful, and helpful. They also offer a military discount, which I think is great.Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area!

Had at least three employees welcome me and ask if I needed help with anything. One I already knew and had gotten to know, another introduced himself to me (which I thought was very kind), and the other put some shorts I wanted to try on in the fitting room for me while I looked for more pairs. Excellent experience, very pleasant staff, and a surprisingly good stock of outdoor equipment for its size. Highly recommend.

Paid for shoes a while back but they didn't have the correct size in the color I wanted. I was told they would order them. They eventually called to tell me they wouldn't be able to get the color I wanted, but that they also wouldn't refund my money. I would have to get store credit... What?!... After speaking with a few people and complaining about their return policy, they eventually came to their senses and returned the money to my card.I don't know if their policy has changed or not, cause I haven't been back since. Plus, I hated walking around feeling like their employees are hawking you thinking you might steal something the whole time.They're kind of overpriced anyways, so it hasn't affected me. I would rather support local places, but not this time.Hopefully things have changed for the better since then.

Lot of high quality outdoor and CU things. Didn't have enough time. Saw some gift ideas. Got some locally made mint soap, good Columbia jacket at great sale price. Need to go back to check out the life vest. Look nice for kayaking

Its a fine shop. Clean. A bit overpriced as can be expected. Basic selection of gear. More of a clothing store than a gear store. Staff was nice enough. Courteous. Staff was not extremely knowledgeable, but could answer basic questions. No complaints. Nothing overly praiseworthy. A great place to go if you have lots of disposable income and are looking for a trendy outdoorsy shirt.

Great mountain ambiance. Everything from clothes to kayaks to fly fishing. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. One of the staff took my husband fishing after we bought our cabin. They used a kayak from ETC and he showed Steve the great spots around Clemson. We visit every time we go to our cabin in Seneca.

I've loved Elkmont ever since it was Outdoor Adventures! Always quality, exciting things to look at and buy and the staff is always very friendly. Even though I'm not local anymore, whenever I visit Clemson I always make sure to drop in. I also love to visit during their tent sales - my favorite score was a pair of five fingers for about $18! They have a good assortment of footwear, clothing, hammocks, kayaks, etc. Basically everything you'd need to have a proper adventure!

Just wanted to say thanks to Ken for taking the time to call me and discuss some kayaks at length the other day. I was going to drive up from the Atlanta area this week to look at some models but unfortunately (after further discussion with family) decided not to pursue the kayak purchase at this time. When I do, I will certainly drive up to Clemson, and will highly recommend Elkmont Trading Co. to anyone I know who is considering a kayak purchase.

Looking to purchase 2 pair of oboz. Asked if there’s a discount or percentage off for purchasing g 2!pair. NO! Only to discover a first time discount of 10% for first time buyer online.Needless to say, I did not get the shoes and doubt if I will ever shop there again. Staff is not knowledgeable, all too young to know about merchandise. Many of them acted as if they were above the customer!Sorry to say it, but don’t waste your time. Even sales area is a mess and over priced!

This place is a treasure trove of outdoor accessories needed for your water & hiking sports. Was very happy we stopped in. My friend found several very nice shirts too. Take your time in here or you'll miss something. Going back again before we leave the area
