Such a cute little stop. We got shakes, a scoop of peach icecream (my favorite!) and lunch (burger, pork chop sandwich, hot dog and fries.) Food took longer than we'd have liked to cook, so order ahead if you are thinking of a quick stop. Perfect lunch stop if you're taking a detour on 21 instead of the interstate. Some picnic tables in the back to sit and eat, a big field next door if kids need to run around, and something called Branch Junction, an old timey town that may just be seasonal because it was closed. Still a fun spot to get energy out while we waited for lunch.Food was basic, but the icecream was legit. Better than drivethru for sure, so make the stop and stretch your legs for a bit!

The people were polite. The food was hot and delicious. There was a short wait. I ordered a hamburger basket and I was pleasantly surprised. I had never eaten there before and they served fresh, homemade french fries. They were amazing! The burger was so much better than a fast food place. Highly recommend!

I didn't give it a rating for atmosphere because you don't go to the turn for atmosphere. My husband has been going to the turn since he was a little boy and he is not a young man anymore.🤣 When he was little his family stopped and got ice cream or milkshakes there on their way to their grandmother's house. When our four daughters were growing up and we were going to see their great grandmother we always stopped and got them whatever they wanted and they mostly wanted ice cream. Now, when we travel we purposely get off the interstate and take the back roads just so we can hit up The Churn. I like the way they prepared their food and this is not a restaurant and this is a drive up to it get out of your car go to the window and place an order. Some of you might remember places like it if you went to Myrtle Beach when you were a kid. You'll find things like cod fish sandwiches, catfish sandwiches, burgers, cheeseburgers, chicken gizzards (ew but the husband loves them), onion rings, hush puppies, etc. And wonderful milkshakes, of course! I don't know if anyone else would purposely get off the interstate and take the back roads just to go here but we do. While some of it is sentimentality not all of it is. We really do like the food and the way they prepare it. If you are ever in Branchville, South Carolina and drive past The Churn, definitely stop and try something from their menu. It could be the start of a tradition for your family as well.

Ordered a bacon cheeseburger basket with cheese fries and a side of onion rings. The cold mini sized burger covered 2/3 of the bun and was rubbery with no flavor. The fries were soggy, cold and tasted like they were cooked yesterday il old grease and had very little cheese or flavor The onion rings were hot but soaked in grease and soggy. This was an order placed at the window. Will never visit this place again. Waste of $13 and some of the worst food I have ever eaten.

Food orders almost 100%, fell short on Cheese fries...no cheese as requested guaranteed they would add the Cheese. 😔The ButterPecan milkshake is still on Point ❤. Service is above average for fast food and food wasn't as expensive as I assumed$20and change for 5 people..($4/per person)😊

We ordered two bacon cheeseburgers but we got no bacon. They were out of french fries so we got onion rings that tasted like they were fried in old grease. We ordered a regular Coke and a diet Coke and both were flat had to throw them away. The hamburger meat was a light brown color that didn't look anything like hamburger. Only got a couple shreds of lettuce. Tasted terrible!!!!

Called order in...ordered two Chilli dogs with ketchup and mustard. Got home and onions are covered on them, Chilli is canned and one hotdog was upside down. And don't order a cherry coke which they were known for...you can't even taste the cherry in it now. Will not go back.

Was looking forward to spending the day in Branchville and trying a new place to make our "spot" on our weekly trips through the area but the lady working was incredibly rude. The food was fine but she made the experience horrible.There is outdoor seating but it's next to the air conditioning unit so it blows hot air (much like the service) into the already warm seating area. We are huge supporters of small business and intentionally look for family owned hole in the wall establishments but this will be a place that we will never be back to. We'll go somewhere where they are kind and appreciate the business. Save yourself the hassle and skip this place!

We drive through Branchville several times a year, and I've always wanted to stop at the Churn, a little walk-up shop.As the name implies and our experience suggests, its specialty is ice cream. If you don't want ice cream, your options are hot dogs, burgers, fried fish squares, and the like. We ordered a meal and "ate in," by sitting at a picnic table out back under a cover. While we were there, a number of folks stopped for takeout.I had a burger; wish I'd realized they had corn dogs or had opted for a milkshake instead. I've been served buns that were straight out of a plastic bag; this burger bun was straight out of the fridge. (Not a pleasant surprise.) The combo of a bland patty with cold bun wasn't inspiring. (The fries were fine.)So I might stop to try the ice cream sometime, after this memory fades, but I won't be ordering off the sandwich menu.

Have eaten here many times in the past and always great burgers; not today. Long wait, burgers and fries not that good, chili on the "hot dog" I ordered, waited ten more minutes to get some ketchup and finally gave up.

It's definitely not what it use to be. The last few times I've ordered food, it had been awful and some of the young kids they have working really have don't know anything about customer service. Our food has been burnt and over cooked. I hate to day this but they're giving this place a bad name. I've been in this town over 30 years and it's never been this bad.

Good old fashioned ice cream shop! They changed the fried mushrooms recipe, which is a slight bummer. However, they still have a peaceful little spot; a breath of fresh air in the middle of what can feel like nowhere. The pricing makes sense, and there are plenty of options for a variety of cravings. You'd probably find the steamed veggies you're ĺooking for at the Chinese resaraunt across the street, though. Fried food galore! You know you're looking for fried pickles!

got there at 630. could not order shakes no frys no onionfings and no chick on line sad close at 730 they said 700 why do you stop frying and shakes at 630 . but the hamburders were good .need to change time on line and cutting off fryer and ice and shakes 30 mins before their closing time and a hour online closing time is unheard of .and lost of money for CHUM...
