The staff at Dawgwood are AWESOME!!! They went above & beyond helping us with the prescription one of our dogs needed. I could tell immediately that we made the correct decision bringing our 4 legged family members to their office & I'd refer them to anyone looking for a veterinarian to care for their animals! Top Notch for sure!

Where do I start…? First off this place killed our baby at age 3. Autopsy says so!!! They’ve never to this day called & checked on her either. I’ve tried to make other simple rabies appointments & they want MONEY MONEY MONEY before touching/seeing dog…. A $300 deposit!!! Wth. No vet charges ahead of time for a simple rabies, $300 deposit for a $10 rabies??? Then for you to reply like I couldn't afford it... please! That was not the case here...so nice come back.I’ve never had ANY issues paying my bills! These ppl are money hungry, very sickening!!! Stay clear of dogwood! My best advice. And don’t let it be a Friday when no one wants to work…. You won’t be seen. I wouldn’t trust these ppl with a gold fish of mine. They’d kill it too.No c-section on a Friday at noon should cost after hours prices!!! Think about that $800 on a Friday... but I paid CASH money no issues. I came right back from the atm not 15 mins later & handed y'all cash.Edit- it’s definitely not that I couldn’t afford it…. I’ve never heard a vet asking for a deposit BEFORE services to see any dog, yes on surgeries they asked for a dep but not a simple rabies appt. You pay when your service is complete!!! I’ve never asked for credit from this office! So how UNPROFESSIONAL … as I stated I’ve never had payment issues. I’ve always handed you the CASH after each appointment & NEVER have owe you nothing! Note- you never once mentioned about the dog you killed. So Heartless. This autopsy states how your office used DIRTY instruments on our babygirl, you caused her to be septic & died 36 hrs after surgery. Remember I had you see the same dog 3 x that week to make SURE she was healthy.... all was great on her, until y'all touched her for surgery. Y'all even gave her meds in mg that was 3 times the amount she should have had!!! You gave 325 mg for a 20 lb dog. She should have had 125 mg. I paid cash for all 3 checkup visits that week THEN a $800 surgery in cash!!! Then you reply sorry I couldn't pay deposit...? Yall are really pathetic people. Hide from the FACT this autopsy states dogwood killed her, 5 things y'all did to kill her! If the public read her autopsy they would not use y'all for there beloved pets. Not at all! Worst vet around this area.

The staff are so friendly and helpful!! The facility is very clean and inviting, and Dr Shannon is amazing!!!We've used DAH for 7+ years. In this time, she has always treated our fur babies with compassion, while explaining everything she's doing. She takes the time to be thorough, and show love to them to calm them. We have NO complaints!!! And would Definitely recommend this place to everyone!!!

We are new to the area. We had A severe emergency one of our dogs got attacked and needed help ASAP we called ahead they said to bring her in! Put me in a waiting room as my dog was bleeding really bad with her chest ripped open in two places. After 20 minutes they came in and said they’re not able to help her. So we frantically called as many vets as we could ended up driving an hour away with her in horrible condition and found an amazing vets office in Augusta Georgia. They took her back immediately to take care of her wounds she had 32 staples and a drain. We will never go anywhere else we actually just purchased pet insurance through them they’re extremely caring & if shows.I’m not one to leave bad reviews. But my dog was dying & bleeding out. The office staff was not that friendly the receptionist possibly what’s new? But they should not have told us to come in and wasted vital time to save my dog if they knew they couldn’t help or like we were told had the time to help because the vet was too busy.

I love the lady’s at Dogwood, always super friendly, Reliable, and just over all good people. You can tell they care about you and your animal(s) as if they were their own. First time I called dogwood was for an emergency I couldn’t get anywhere to take my cat in, One phone call to them and they told me to bring him in as soon as I could. Very kind about any and every situation. I recommend them to everyone. Always worth the drive to know my fur babies are in good hands.

Thank you all so much for being so compassionate and understanding during our time of need. We brought our Doodlebug in 2 days after an emergency visit with CVETS. We were very hopeful that she was going to make it, but when she took a turn for the worst, we rushed her to Dogwood. She had never been seen here before. We knew half way there she wasn’t going to pull out of it, but continued because we didn’t want her to suffer. As soon as we walked in, we were put in a room and got immediate attention. Doodle passed before she could be euthanized, but she went peacefully. Everyone was so helpful, kind, and compassionate. We were allowed time to grieve and get over the initial shock of what had happened. You will never know how much that meant to us. I will definitely be bringing my other babies to Dogwood in the future.

Ive lived here for 3 years now and have acquired 4 dogs and 2 cats. I moved here with only one dog and he was non rescue/drop off. Living out of town, we tend to get a lot of drop offs, which is so unfair, because we're the ones who have to decide how to handle someone elses unwanted pets.I have had nothing but the best treatment at Dogwood. From nail trims to neuters, teeth cleaning to infections, Ive felt confident in Dr Millers decisions on treatment plans so far, shes been right on the money on all counts.Even during covid lockdown, they were creative enough to make everything work for the comfort of the furbabies. Even adding onto the building a drive up pharmacy window.I will continue with Dogwood for my medical needs.

My brother was visiting from Buffalo, NY. He brought our 5 mo old chocolate lab with him. The first day she was there she got into and ate rat poison. He rushed her to Dogwood fearing the worst. When he arrived staff immediately swooped her up and began care. No hesitation.They saved her life. I can’t thank this place enough. If I lived in the area they would definitely be my choice for my pets care.Thank you again from Chad, Shelly and Willow. ❤️

I grew up in Barnwell as did my parents. I currently live in Florida and needed a vet to see and likely euthanize my baby girl. I called many vet hospitals in the CSRA, many did not have availability but were concerned and helpful in trying to get me pointed towards a vet that could help me. Only one veterinarian office made me feel worse than I did, was unprofessional, and honestly should not work in the veterinary field. I don't want to name names but you know who you are. I called and was told they were double booked. I asked please I am in Barnwell I can come anytime and I really need to get her in. Now I understand not every vet is an emergency vet. It's hard to get in last minute. But the way I was talked to was awful and rude. I was asked, "Who is your primary vet?" And I said I live in Florida I am here because my father was in the hospital so I had to come home and now my baby is very unwell. I asked please can you help me or give me some resources.I was told and it is a quote, "Well yeah if you were an established client we would see you."WHAT?! My 15-year old dog suddenly cannot control her bowels and bladder, is leaning all the way over and won't stop panting. It is an emergency situation.But I WAS NOT told they don't take emergencies. I was basically told they won't take me because I am not an established client.THIS IS BEYOND INHUMANE. To flat out say if I was a client they would see me, but I am not so they won't even though my dog is basically dying.You need to have a staff that cares about animals. I called a dozen or more vets and every office was compassionate and understanding and trying to help. Not dogwood. This place is not a place to take your loved baby. They care about planned appointments and money making. Don't take your baby here. Of all the raves I am telling you when I needed someone, they were curt and dismissive.I called Dr. Mitchell in Bamberg. He was closed but his voicemail had a cell number. My mother texted him the situation and he said come on now and I will meet you there. THIS is a vet. THIS is someone who cares about the animal, not just the bottom line. He came during his personal day to meet me and my family, assess my baby, and compassionately put her down giving me all the time I needed.Don't go to dogwood. Even if you live in Barnwell. The best around is Dr. Mitchell and I will always highly recommend him.I will never recommend dogwood. Don't take your babies there. Knowing what they did to me and the situation they put me in, they deserve NO business and NO babies to take care of.
