Just moved to Aiken and found Downtown Dog on Google maps. They have a golden retriever on their website so I booked an appointment. Prompt response. I parked right in front and opened the door and it smelled like a French pastry shop. Very attractive retail area. My European golden, Dizzy, is vision impaired and has been anxious at previous appointments at other groomers. To the point that I was anxious. When I returned to pick her up, she was very happy and “at home”. The groomer was excellent. The price was more than worth the service. I’ll be a repeat customer.

Be cautious in regard to the grooming services. You should ask questions like, can I see the grooming area?, can I see where my dog will be contained in the grooming area?, what other dogs/animals will be in the grooming area with my dog?, will my dog/pet be exposed or contained with another dog/pet? can I stay and wait for my dog while they are being groomed? Be sure to inspect your pet for any abnormalities or injuries after the grooming service. Being transparent is important.

Shopped here for our 2 rescues. Jack russell needs new toys constantly she plays with all the Cogi's but always needs more. Owner knew extactly what we needed toys with squeaker that could not be destroyed!! Such a great selection of toys, treats, food, collars, and much more. I will return with harness to replace. Great shop for all pet owners!

My Doodle and I enjoy visiting the store and picking up delicious treats or cute little knick knacks for him. He also gets a hair cut there every once in a while and so far it's my favorite place to go, and I've tried three other places before. They do a great job and the prices are reasonable.

They have the absolute best customer service and our dog loves their treats. My mom made a stop here yesterday on her way from North Carolina to Georgia. Just to pick up sweet treat from the most amazing ladies in the business. Thank you for being so kind to my mother and my mom says your service are worth the trip off of the interstate every time. The sweetest person behind the counter. I love their Halloween Decorations I saw on Saturday. From the window to the scarecrow. I picked up a couple of treats to bring home for my Pomeranian. Great store! I’ll be back!

Adorable little shop with friendly service. We didn't use the grooming service, so I can't speak to that, but the shop smells great because of the baking dog treats and was a nice place to stop in for some treats for our pup while we visited family in Aiken.

Winston and Dolly started to come here for grooming and they’ve always done such an amazing job and their patience with our wild ones (trust me they know) is unmatched! After coming for grooming a few times, we decided this was the place for pretty much everything else for them. Our dogs (believe it or not, if you know them) can sometimes be a little standoffish when going to new places, but any time we get in the car and pull up here they are ready to jump out! They are a wild bunch, but everyone in there always greets them with kindness and very welcoming arms!

I really love this little shop and the owners as well. My husband and I have never had a bad experience going in. We usually end up in a conversation with the owners while were shopping because they are so friendly. I love the products they provide and the homemade treat options. I also love that they always give us a small pack of treats for every purchase. I get my german shepherd/husky mix groomed here and they do an amazing job. He always comes out very excited and pretty much a whole new dog. This is such a nice pet store to shop at, especially because you can bring your dog! I recommend small businesses like this over franchise stores because the owners truly love and care about their pets.

I was worried that my old dog would not respond well to grooming. He gets nervous. He didn't respond well but she was able to give him a bath and clip his nails. Hooray! Very professional!

I gave this business one star because of the bad business practice of not listening to nor attempting to resolve a customer complaint. I have been taking my dog for grooming at Downtown Dog in Aiken and never had an issue until the last two appointments. I called and explained to the woman who answered the phone that I was satisfied with the grooming in the past and thought I would give them one more try because the previous groomer did not bathe my dog. He or she only used a scented spray. I could smell the uncleanness where the spray wasn't applied, and I decided to call because it happened again at her last appointment. I did not want to bring up the issue in front of customers in the store. I understand if they are overwhelmed with appointments and somehow forget she wasn't bathed once, but not being bathed at her grooming appointment following the last incident is a bit much. Instead of ensuring me that my dog will be bathed at her next appointment, she told me it was impossible that she was not bathed because she knows her groomers. I was trying to be kind to her in explaining my complaint, but she would not listen to me and kept saying, "That's impossible because I know my groomers." I called in good faith trying to resolve an issue as a paying customer and was met with a complete lack of customer service skills in resolving an issue and retaining a repeat customer. I am usually very supportive of local businesses, but, in my opinion, the woman running this business is bad business for downtown Aiken, SC.

My experience had been a 5 plus until today when I met the female owner. I read another review where the husband is rude as well.Some of this is copy and paste but same thing happened to me today. Female owner is a witch and God Knows - don't ask her a question that might mean she is wrong. Here come c/p from other customer:She allowed us in but only with a rude attitude and eye rolls. We ended up walking out and not even looking around. I can spoil my pups from a store I feel more welcome in. I will not return.The employees are great and if you look on Indeed - Glassdoor you will see former employees say the same thing. Other folks will take my money. I just feel sorry for those who work there

This is a cute little pet store with a variety of good products. I love all the interesting collars. My only complaint is that I wish there were more cat products. It’s hard to find high quality brands around the CSRA area.

Wonderful boutique dog and cat store in the heart of downtown Aiken. They have great collars, organic dog treats and seasonal scarves and toys. Staff is very helpful and friendly.

Would have been my first time in the store the other day as I am new to the area.My husband and I asked if it was ok to come in because we didn’t have a mask on, she had a sign on the door recommending a mask. She allowed us in but only with a rude attitude and eye rolls. We ended up walking out and not even looking around. I can spoil my pups from a store I feel more welcome in. I will not return.

Love Downtown Dog. I have taken both of my dogs here for grooming and they do a spectacular job every time. Not to mention their prices are very reasonable. The staff is super nice and helpful, and my dogs always leave with a little treat.

Nice little clean and well organized doggie boutique. Not a huge selection of products but in a handy downtown area.This shop also provides grooming for your furry friends. 🐕🐩🐅🐆Very busy place with happy four legged customers and their human friends. 🐶😀

The lady that helped us (I think she was the owner?) was amazing. She was super nice to my boys who had a lot to say about our dog. They selection is great and I will definitely be going back with our 4 legged baby.

This place is great! The owners are caring of your animals and knowledgeable about their products. My dogs love the on-site baked treats, it's smells so good I want to eat the treats!!
