My husband and I love Sakonnet grooming! We used to bring our bernese mix to a different groomer in the Warren/Bristol area & he would shake and not want to get out of the car. We unfortunately attributed this to him not liking the groomers.But thankfully we decided to try Sakonnet and he has done a total 180 with how he reacts to the groomers. He absolutely loves going there & you can tell that they really care about animals, especially the owner.I feel awful for bringing him to that other place for so long where he was clearly mistreated based on how terrified he would get.But I definitely recommend sakonnet grooming! Such a great place with great staff

Left my moms dog with numerous cuts on her body & in her ears and didn’t feel the need to mention this on pick up. dogs ears were so full of blood she had to but put on antibiotics for an ear infection. hasn’t been the same since. would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. If they can’t do the job properly they should not do it at all.

Alex and all at Sakonnet grooming did the best work in getting my boy looking great! I appreciate Alex being able to handle his fearful alpha German shepherd temperament. They were able to work through his very blown out summer coat and got him looking like a puppy again!

I found this place through a recommendation. I made an appt but stayed on their cancellation list which ended up getting me in sooner. My dog hates being dropped off at her previous groomer and loved this place! The staff loved on her and did a great job with her cut! Very friendly which is the icing on the cake!

i love this place and the owner anne, she gave me an opportunity at a very young age to learn how to work with and groom animals and it opened my eyes at a very young age what the adult world was like! they are very kind and loving and put so much effort into everyone’s animals like they are their own. i would recommend this place to anyone (completely unbiased !!) truly the best and warm hearted people ever!<3

Very nice team of people , thought I would give them a try with my cat .I know people who have gone there had great service. I just feel like she Got the bum trim like I asked. she got her ears cleaned as much as possible that’s fine . She got her nails done from my understanding. Just wish things were a little better for a first time experience with a cat. I was told she was going to get a dry shampoo and she may have but she still smelled the same when picking her up . So hard to tell if she did or didn’t get one .overall decent team

This was my 2 Westies (9 & 13 yrs old) 1st visit to this groomer and she had her job cut out for her. Both of them had long winter coats that hadn't been brushed nearly enough.I experienced professionalism from the day I made the appointment over the phone, meeting them at the front desk at drop-off until the time I went back to pick them up. Gracious and caring throughout it all. I did think the cost was a bit much but then again they did a lot of work. The pups came home happy, beautiful and groomed to perfection. Thank you Sakonnet Groomers for such a great experience. We already have their next appointment on the calendar.

I am from out of state (Colorado), and regret that I can not return to this establishment. They did an amazing & thorough job with my dog. They paid special attention to his armpit and under behind leg area...they shaved it extra short, which is just what he needs. His ears were cleaned better than when the vet tech. did it last. This was the best grooming my dog ever received in his 4 years of life! Thank you Sakonnet Grooming. Fair pricing as well.

Absolutely amazing work! I was so nervous about getting my aussie groomed and they assured me and made me feel so comfortable every step of the way. They were amazing on the phone after I had called a million and one places looking for experienced groomers who knew aussie fur well. They were the right choice. They were amazing with my baby too, he has terrible separation anxiety and usually hates a crate and getting a bath but they did everything in their power to make him so happy and he was beaming when I came to get him. I even showed up a little early and looked in on him while being groomed and he looked so content! I have received so many compliments on his coat on social media with other aussie groups who are also looking to change to Sakonnet as well as everyone at our local dog park! I hope they do because I am in love with Sakonnet and will be surely making this our official groomer! Not enough good things can be said about our experience and the work done by them!

Customer Service was terrible. The owner was unwilling to honor a coupon because they were not a "large box" store even though they are considered dealer of my pet's food on the vendor's website.Even though the coupon had clear instructions on how the retailer was to be reimbursed for the product (through a simple and easy process) the owner was unwilling to compromise. I had to drive a distance to get to the store because they are the closest "dealer" of my dog's food (Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul - very good brand and inexpensive, try Amazon, not this place. Customer service is better, ironic, and they deliver it to your house.)Experiences like this make me feel less bad about purchasing products online. The one element that local businesses (should) have is customer service. When I'm treated like a nuisance I have no remorse when these small businesses crumble under the inability to keep up with more efficiently run "large box" retailers.I do not hold this opinion across the board, but only in my experience with such poor customer service as delivered by "Sakonnet Grooming and Pet Supplies."Do yourself a favor and explore inexpensive options on Amazon for the pet supplies and try one of the more capable groomers in the area.I apologize to the owner of this store for inconveniencing her and her staff. I will not bring my business or refer business, as not to cause further inconvenience.

If you LOVE your pets, go elsewhere! I took my cat there today for the first (and LAST) time. After I picked him up & got home, he went to his scratching post & there was blood on the post & on his right front paw. Obviously this wasn't the case when I brought the cat there, NOR did this ever happen for the entire 12 months previous, when I took him for grooming at PetSmart in Swansea. When I called to inquire what happened, their response was that it 'might have happened while he was in his crate', or 'he may have been clipped kind of short & then it opened up' as he used his scratching post. NO, you guys just clipped him too short - period! Much like other posts on this feed.

My name is Anne Dupere and I am the owner of Sakonnet Grooming. I am responding to the previous review written by Mary Ellen Dube and taking the opportunity to clarify the actual facts of her grooming experience.Ms. Dube presented 3 inch growth on a severely matted dog. The matts behind the ears were attached to the neck limiting mobility and the skin presented obvious body wide pre-existing irritation and redness. Perhaps this is an explanation for the inaccurate perception of “clipper burn”. In the highly unlikely event that clipper burn would occur in any grooming salon, it occurs for one of two reasons: a dirty, dull blade (we disinfect daily with Barbicide a broad spectrum salon disinfectant, and regularly service our blades, scissors and clippers by a professional sharpening service). The second reason is because of blade contact with pre-existing skin disorders (yeast, bacteria, infection) often present underneath matts, as was the case with Ms. Dube’s dog.The groomer attempted to contact the owner and left a detailed message prior to the required pre-clip. This is a policy that we strictly enforce. She did not respond. We had to make the professional decision to proceed with the grooming to alleviate the discomfort that the dog was in-it is a professional groomers job to do what is best for the health and comfort of the dog. The owner was notified, communication was attempted. She stated that I “hung up on her”. We were disconnected and as she further stated I momentarily called her back to which she did not respond-As a professional groomer and business owner for over 10 years, we would not have a successful business and a 5 star reputation if we made it a habit to “hang up” on our customers. I encourage open communication with my staff and especially our customers. My groomers are trained accordingly and I can confidently state, handle our customers (both furry and human) with compassion, communication and care. My communication with Ms. Dube was perceived by me to be slanderous, inaccurate and hostile. Her dog was shaved with a 7F blade which does not result in a “scalped” dog, it is a commonly used and required blade for matted coats as the blade is designed to get underneath the matts. We never shave a dog any shorter than necessary. On the contrary her dog looked professionally groomed and beautiful, it was happy and healthy upon departure. I am very sorry that Ms. Dube felt it was necessary to slander us without attempting to reach out to me first. We continuously make every effort to stand behind our service and happily address and make any concern right for our customers.

I am the owner of Sakonnet Grooming and I am writing in response to the inaccurate review written by Anthony Hanos. It is true that his wife presented us with a coupon that we could not honor. But what he forgot to mention is "why":1). It was an online computer generated COUNTERFEIT coupon.2). This was confirmed by my distributor (via phone) minutes prior to potential transaction.3). A warning had been issued to all retail stores (directly from manufacturer)to have a heightened awareness of these very coupons.4).Which is why I found it somewhat suspicious that this particular coupon was for TWO, 35 pound bags of Chicken Soup For The Dog Lover's Soul.(This is very unusual as most coupons we've honored are generally for a five pound bag).5).We know our customers, and I had never seen this customer before. She had driven all the way from Newport to "cash" this coupon in.6). She was adamant about walking out of our store with those two 35 pound bags for "free". I even graciously suggested to her I would pre-order her food and she could come back next Friday and then cash in coupon. (Giving me time to check the validity of coupon.) She flatly refused that offer.7). Upon her angry (and rude) departure in front of another customer, I decided to make a few phone calls to some of my local pet store friends that also sold this product because I found it odd that she had driven so far and was so desperate.8). Evidently, this woman had tried 2 other stores all the way up from Newport, all of which turned her down for the same reason, explaining why we were her last resort to score some free food.If I had honored her coupon she would have left our store with two, big 35 pound bags of one of our best selling foods (the last two for me to sell on my shelf until next delivery) and our business would have lost almost $100.00 to thievery.We are a privately owned business. We adore our customers and LOVE our profession. We form personal relationships. We value their business. We respect and appreciate that they understand the importance of feeding their pet quality food that makes their pet look and feel great. And that they return to us again and again. Customer service is extremely important to us, we do everything possible to encourage open communication and make everything right. "How can we help you?" and " What can I do to make you happy" are often used phrases in our salon and store. And we mean it and we stand behind it. We donate pet food to local shelters and to our customers experiencing financial difficulties. This review could not be farther from the truth. In closing, how would Mr. Hanos know how "capable" our groomers/stylists are? His pet was never groomed by us.
