It was a sad day for me. My cat was extremely sick and it was only one option. The staff was extremely kind. It was extremely clean. They had available appointments. They were very knowledgeable. Extremely helpful and they did have better prices than most

Update 1/31/24: Today's visit was 100 times better. I was greeted at the door when I arrived, put in an exam room, and the vet tech came in right away. He was happy and friendly.We made an appointment online, and the day before the appointment, Vetco called me and said that the appointment was doubled booked and asked if I could come in at 4 pm that day. I agreed. It was 430pm, and we still were not called into a room. When we were seen, the vet tech was not in the best mood.The vet that returned with our pup was very nice and sat on the floor with the dog and gave us a lot of information.

Staff went above and beyond. As a first time pet owner I wasn’t sure what to expect but I will never go anywhere else. Desk staff was kind and helpful. They even saw me struggling in the isles looking for food for my dog and directed me the right way. They took the time to explain everything. The PA and the doctor were so kind and took the time to make sure I was comfortable. The doctor came in and sat on the floor to make my dog comfortable after receiving uncomfortable procedures. I will never go anywhere else. Thank you!!!!

We were a bit hesitant about using Petco's Vet, but our experience at the Smithfield location left us completely satisfied. We just moved to the area and in search for Vet landed on Petco, due to ease of access and price. We did get the premiere plan to make things easier and so far it has been worth it. At our first visit, our doctor was incredible friendly and knowledgeable, he reminded me of my pediatrician as a kid. It was great knowing our dog was being cared for by someone who seemed passionate about his job. The doctor was able to answer all our questions and provided great recommendations. We felt like he really cared about our dog. The vet techs were friendly as well. We will definitely be back, even though this location is a bit further away, we will continue to use this one.

Unaccommodating. No common sense here. We were 10 minutes late to our appointment and instead of using the remaining 20 minutes of the time booked to have a look at our cat, we just stood around waiting another 15 minutes while they were “checking what they could do”. In my experience, most days I’ve arrived on time to the vet, doctor, etc - I’m still waiting 10-15 minutes to see them anyway, so I’m not sure why they couldn’t have been slightly more flexible. Definitely not going to waste my time taking off work and try this spot again.

It was good but when I called to schedule my dogs rabies vaccine, I asked the girl how much it would cost and she said between $40-$50. I get there and it was around $37 or $38. Then there was another charge that brought the total to over $90. I was not happy about that. They need to b up front and tell people how much extra it's gonna cost. Don't wait till the dau of when u get there. Like I said, I wad not very happy about that

Although an extremely sad one, putting down my kitty of almost 8 years…. They went above and beyond the limits to help me and my fur baby! I honestly didn’t know where else to turn cuz she started having seizures and it was 20 minutes to closing but the team stayed and assisted with my precious kitty so I could say goodbye to her and I never felt rushed or anything. Everyone was so kind.

First time coming here today with my beloved cat suffering from double ear infection and receiving wellness exam. All staff were kind, compassionate, accommodating, and truly eased my lil guy and also my worried mama brain. I would highly recommend to anyone in need of veterinary care. 💓

The reception area needs work. Small, crowded when I was there (3 pm, Wed), too many dogs with poor manners- ahem- owners. Benches are around the corner, tell us or get a sign. Once inside with vet tech, all is good. Great staff that cares and has helpful information. Will b back! 1st timers get coupons!!

Unfortunately, my Furr Baby Coco needed to go to heaven, staff made sure to keep me updated. The Vet was soo great took time to just listen, and they all just made her last day nice

If I could give no stars I would. To echo previous reviewers, the store staff are more caring than the vet staff. Completely unhelpful, unfriendly and overall poor experience that I left frustrated from.

Poor communication when my puppy had surgery. We never saw the veterinarian at all, only the "staff". And now they will not fill a prescription for her heartworm medication. When Petco contacted them, they said that they are not our provider even though they are are they only vet we have used.

My vet recently closed down and my 16 year old cat was running out of meds for her hypothyroidism so I needed to find a vet who could get her in quick to look her over and hopefully sign off on a refill for her meds so I found an opening at the Smithfield Vetco.Front desk was quick getting my cat checked in and set up in a room to wait for the vet.The vet tech, Amy, was so lovely! She was knowledgeable and very friendly and put me completely at ease immediately.The vet, Dr. Fisher, LOVE HER! Not only did she refill the medicine my cat has been on for years, but she did bloodwork to see if the meds need any further tweaking and will call me with the results tomorrow. She is SO knowledgeable and even told me about her cat who has similar issues to one of my other cats and how she treats him. Even offered to send me some further information to read on the issues my cats have if I was interested.I’m beyond happy with the visit I had today!Not the cheapest place but it was also my first visit there so I’m sure that had an impact on pricing, no big deal! Highly recommend regardless. :)

I have always had very good experiences since I started taking my cat here. they are super kind and gentle with him, and everyone here has always been super nice to me as well. today, I spoke on the phone with the person at the desk, I believe they said their name is Siamy. Siamy was super helpful and extremely patient despite the fact that I had lots of questions and requests. They spent just as much time with me as I needed, answered all my questions, and did everything they could to assist me. Definitely a lot better than some of the veterinary clinics we have in Rhode Island, that's for sure.

I appreciate how friendly and careful they are with my pets. I love to take take them there. Last time I didn’t have a good experience. I went for a drop-off. The first price they gave me was $160. After a few hours they sent me a form to approve the treatment for ear infection and it was supposed to cost $75 extra. Somehow my bill was over $360. That was supposed to be the final price but when I got to Vetco to pick up my pet, the price was over $500 counting her meds. I had to use my credit card because that was not the price that they told me in first place. I would appreciate that they give a real expectation of the price before I leave my pet again, because it seems obvious that I can’t decline to pay a price for the care they gave to my pet, but I could have choose to bring my pet the following week if I could not afford what they would charge me that time.

First time visit after leaving a vet from a traumatic experience. The vet tech was very friendly. To my surprise, my very anxious dog went with her with no problem. They answered all my questions. And the pricing was reasonable. Thank you for making this a great experience for both of us.

Been coming to this site for alitle over a year. We had to come this time for my pups ears. I'm very pleased with everyone. They are super friendly, I love how they let you know what is going on before they do anything. They are super fast. And always get us in when we need,never have to wait a long time.

Really backed up, call outs they said and only one Dr, who was fantastic. But it said to get there 10 min early so I did, and then sat for 40 min before I could get into a room. This was after my appointment was rescheduled to 2 days later than initially scheduled for. Everyone was nice but, they need some serious help or not take as many appointments.

Good enough for when you need a quick appointment but the wait was VERY long even with appointment. It was again a wait to pick up medication even though I was told i could come in to pick it up. Medication was not filled when I got there. Clinic seemed understaffed. They take the pet to the back for the exam without the owner present which I do not like and is stressful for my timid dog. Would def not use VETCO for regular vet care but it’s ok for an emergency. They were transparent about cost.

Everyone here is very friendly, professional and accommodating. They are always respectful of your time and the visits are so efficient. I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Rosen- she is extremely kind, thorough and takes the time to explain everything including each treatment option.

I called the office on Thursday to reschedule an appointment. I work all week and I don’t necessarily respond to all the text in my phone. Anyone who knows Vetco will send out several reminders. I never confirmed my appointment. Back to Thursday; I called and was left on hold for 16 mins before the call went dead on their end. I called back to the facility to talk to whom ever may be I charge. The person who answered the phone told me their boss was on lunch. I then said I would be willing to sit on hold till after their lunch. Their response “my boss is on her way to Florida.” (I have my phone on speaker and my best friend is right next to me.) my friend speaks up at the lie. I then hung up the phone and headed to the facility. I was met by a lead nurse and the head person Nicole Fisher. At which point I tried to express to her how disrespected I felt by the confusion and outright lie from HER (fisher’s) employee. I had every anticipation to reschedule my appointment once we got past my complaint. Fisher was not willing to even deal with the complaint (which is recorded by my best friend I have audio) then I was told I can no longer com back to that facility. I have the entire situation recorded I was not disrespectful, loud, or threatening. But I can no longer go to your facility after being lied to and taking the time out my day to come up there to handle this complaint and reschedule my appointments for both my dogs. Thank Fisher.

Darcy was there for a recheck for her ears and diarrhea. I did giver her the meds that were suggested which made her visit much calmer. Dr. Fisher always tries her best to have a great interaction with Darcy despite Darcy’s reactions. It was great to see her be able to get closer to her. Thank you all for your patience, understanding and great care you give to Darcy!
