My review is mixed. They are definitely compassionate about your animal and clearly demonstrate this in whatever the need is. They listen and offers solutions and/or just interact overall really well with both human and pet. The issue is actually getting into the appointment as their scheduling routine needs some serious improvement. I waited close to 40 minutes for a booster shot, that took a vet tech less than 2 minutes to perform once they walked out to the waiting room to actually administer it. An annual appointment 2 months later had me waiting over 45 minutes, no exaggeration. It seems the wait is getting worse as while I’ve always had to wait, these 2 were the worst, and there’s no acknowledgement from the desk or the vets about the wait. My dog is really good, but it’s still frustrating being in a waiting room that long with your dog, keeping him in a closed defined spot, and no one is telling you what’s going on.

I was so happy they were accepting new patients when my new puppy needed a checkup. We had to wait a while but it's understandable. Not every case is simple and some take longer than others. The front desk staff is very friendly and helpful and the vet and the tech were very patient with my puppy and answered all of my questions. I'm so happy they will be caring for my puppy's health.

I took my dog to them after she was seen at Ocean State ER for seizures and kidney disease. They examined her and checked her kidney levels. I was told to order her prescriptions she must take for the rest of her life on Chewy and they would approve them. I did and a week later they refused to approve them because the ER prescribed them originally. I asked how that makes sense since they are now her Dr. All I got was an “that’s the way it is”. I need a vet who can refill prescriptions otherwise what’s the point in taking her there. Absolutely ridiculous and unprofessional!

Horrible it was like being in the worst urgent care ever. The staff wasn’t that great. The wait was so horrible we left. The prices are a lil cheaper but there cheap for a reason. It was so horrible I decided to leave and bring my cat to my dogs vet it’s a lil more expensive but while worth it there no wait and the staff are amazing. I recommend Lincoln Animal hospital. North Smithfield animal hospital was the worst animal hospital I have ever seen.If I could give no stars I would. This place is so ghetto and it was complete chaos the minute you walk through those doors.

Staff is nice. The wait wasn't too long. The vet took her time examining my cat and answering my questions. She seemed just as interested in the well-being of my pet as I am. Great place to go!

Made an appointment didn't have to wait long. Clean waiting room everybody knew their stuff. Vet and vet assistant were kind to my cat. Very informative. My cat got two shots and didn't even realize she was getting them so the vet knows super secret Buddhist techniques lol.

I've been taking my dogs here for years, Dr.Allen is amazing ,very knowledgeable and also provides resources for anything you need. Furthermore, she provided the most caring and compassionate service to both our dogs, The staff is great especially Kim that's my girl, they make you feel right at home like they are caring for their own pets. I would highly recommend to anyone, prices are affordable, I even moved 40 minuets away and still travel and refuse to get another vet because they are the absolute best💕

We've taken all our dogs to North Smithfield Animal Hospital for over 20 years.  The experienced care, reasonable cost, and professional staff have been much appreciated.  They make every effort not to inflate the charges with unnecessary testing.  Dr. Allen knows her stuff, and we've been happy under the care of a very skilled veterinarian.

The staff was so rude and dismissive. They don't take the time to answer your questions. They treated me like a monster because I didn't know my dog's distemper vaccine had lapsed and I didn't know. They belittled me for getting my flea and tick medicine from Canada when I had no quick way to get a prescription for it from our previous vet (we moved and hadn't found a new vet yet). No understanding, no kindess and not particularly good with my dog. My dog must have known something was up because she generally whines a little in a new place, but she was distraught in the waiting room, whining continuously and she's never done that at any previous vet appointment. It didn't help that they took another dog into an exam room and I have no idea what they were doing, but the poor animal was screeching in distress. The only good thing I can say is that they did provide meds for my pups inflamed joint, but that was after approximately 5 mintues of time with us.

My parents have been using North Smithfield Animal Hospital for over 30 years. One of their dogs started having heart issues so they referred them to Ocean State Veterinary Services. It was determined that he had a heart condition and would be on meds the rest of his life. He has been getting meds from NSAH whenever he needed refills. He goes to NSAH for his normal care like he always did. Unfortunately his heart has gotten so much worse so they called NSAH to get an appointment to have him humanely euthanized so he would not have to suffer anymore as he’s been having fainting episodes every other day for the last 5 days. When my parents called NSAH to make the appointment they were told NSAH wouldn’t do it and they needed to go to Ocean State because they were treating him for his heart condition. What?!?! They have been going to NSAH on a regular basis and they have been monitoring his condition as well. They only go to Ocean State when he needs an echo. I’ve been in the veterinary business for over 15 years and have NEVER run into this issue. If they are his regular veterinarian they should have been able to assist my parents during this time. Unfortunately they had to call another vet (that had never seen him before) that is willing to come to their house to take care of their dog. They currently have 2 other dogs that go to NSAH as well and will be switching because of the way they dismissed my parents that were only looking to make sure their pet did not suffer any longer. Where’s the compassion? I’m so disappointed considering my parents have been going to them for so long. If they want to lose business, this is how you do it.

I called saying my cat had diarrhea for several days and if I could bring him in. The receptionist called me back and said the vet was going to provide medication so I didn't need to bring him in. I went to pick up my cat's medication. The receptionist asked me if my cat was eating and urinating normally. I said no he wasn't. She rolled her eyes and she said if he didn't improve in 2 days to bring him to the emergency vet in East Greenwich or Swansea. She handed me directions to these vets that didn't even include the names of these facilities just the directions. When I asked her what are the names of these facilites she was very short with me. I asked her about the directions on the medication bottle and she said that's not for you to know that's for us. I asked how much was 1 miligram and she told me it was the full syringe. I asked for a small bag for the meds and she said I don't have a small bag. Before I could say anything else she started talking to the customer behind me. So rude so unprofessional. I think I should have been able to at least talk to the vet about my cat not eating or urinating normally. I will be calling a different vet tomorrow. Too bad because I did get to see the vet the last time and he was very nice.

I cannot day enough amazing things about the entire staff here, ESPECIALLY Dr. Allen. Every single person here truly cares for and gets to know each animal they see. A few weeks ago I was in with one of my dogs and Dr. Allen even took the time to foster my daughters’ curiosity by letting them “help” her examine our dog. I recommend this team to anyone and everyone, whether they ask or not. I really feel like they see and treat all their patients like family, and that is priceless.

They are absolutely amazing, kind and caring. Gave me a last minute appointment for my cat who I had concerns about and the entire visit from start to finish was so pleasant. I will be using them for all my pets going forward. They are one of the few vets around that seem like they are 100% invested in the welfare of the animal. I didn't get upsold or pressured into unnecessary treatments and was happy with how they cared for and treated my pet.

I truly trust them with my animals! My Aunt worked there when she first became a vet. My other Aunt brings all of her animals there too for years now. She recommended them and I'm grateful I took her recommendation. They care and they really know what they're doing! Highly recommend going here!

Today was my first visit there, the staff was so friendly and helpful and answered any question I had. They went above and beyond to make sure I was 100% Informed on how to care for my animal. The staff was also very personable and made waiting and being there for some time actually pretty fun and they tried to set my cat at ease and actually got my cat to calm down while getting shots and made sure to be gentle with her. I really appreciated all there help and would recommend this place to anyone who cares deeply about there animals!<3

I have four toy poodles and a cat. I have been to a few veterinarians in the area and Dr. Allen is by far the best. She and the other staff at North Smithfield Animal Hospital are always friendly and clearly love animals and care about the work they do. Also, their prices are very reasonable when compared to other veterinarians in the area. Rare find and would highly recommend!

So this vet has very limited hours which may not accommodate many people but, they are amazing. They have helped with animals which are homeless and even kittens. They have a wonderful program to help their community to reduce overpopulation of these poor animals. Please don’t get a pet if you cannot spay or neuter. It becomes someone else’s problem and the animals themselves suffer greatly outside.

They do a great job with my bunny. I feel the love they have for him everytime I bring him in. Sometimes he does not want to leave he is enjoying all the love and pets he gets. And when they couldn't help him with his arthritis, being they don't really have meds for bunnies in stock, they sent me to another great vet. I trust every staff member there.
