We have been in Newport for over a year and we have always had a pleasant experience! The staff is the friendliest of any Commissary we’ve been to. The ladies treat my 4 year old like family. We are thankful for them, Richie, and the rest of the staff. They are greatly appreciated.

Some good deals at the deli they have Boars Head. Not a ton of gluten-free stuff but some it's not on one place which would be more convenient but it's throughout the store. The produce used to be good but very expensive now.

Pretty standard Commissary. Not terribly large but Newport is not large either. Has all the usual Commissary trappings. No complaints.

Wonderful experience here today. Staff extremely helpful; produce manager made sure we could find what we needed. Dave and Paul in the meat department were outstanding and even checked for items in other departments for us. Wonderful selection of products throughout the store. Dennis at checkout was courteous and efficient. Well done Commissary team.

Generally you can't beat the meat prices. Like any other place you need to know your prices. Milk, eggs, frozen food prices are very good. Paper products not so much, cheaper at other places. Overall nice place, they did a good job with the remodel but some of the selection has gone away but still overall I like it.

First time shopping at the Commissary @ Newport Naval Station. Can't say enough about how great of a place it is! Everything that we purchased there was much cheaper than what my wife and I pay at any of the supermarkets off base! Although the selection of some of the brands was limited, we were able to purchase everything we needed and had on our list.. The Commissary was clean and organized well. All of the employees we encountered there were very friendly and helpful and went above and beyond to make our shopping a wonderful experience! Great job Commissary employees!We'll definitely come back!

What is not to like? They have just updated the facility and did a bang-up job. Clean, organized and now modern and efficient. Prices can not be beat, even by the warehouse stores. You have to love the baggers, remember to remind them that you tip on the total amount of the bill NOT the number of bags... But they will fill them fuller if you ask. The deli is especially excellent with the service, and fresh items. Maybe a trip to get there but always worth it. It is about time to be open 7 days a week, don't you think? And maybe a bit later in the evening.

Not my favorite commissary honestly.Store experience: The carts are on the wrong side of the entrance and employees have been consistently rude.Pricing: Some stuff is cheaper like frozen chicken. Milk and produce are way more expensive here—for instance, milk is often over $5 at the commissary and $3 off base. The bottled water is expensive too, especially for those needing non-base drinking water.To save: Definitely use Aldi and Walmart…kind of a shame that I span 3 grocery stores, but #inflation

I love this base! Everything is so easy to find and the employees are so kind and sweet! Had a very playful experience today with our 1.5 yr old in the Uniform shop... the prices at the commissary was definitely worth the hour drive from Cape Cod

Love this store. Military families can survive with all the savings that they get in every department! Sale prices every day! One of the many great benefits that the military provides for it's "families !"

Good prices, as always for a USN Commissary, though store layout is inexplicably different than most grocery stores, making it somewhat difficult to find certain products. It is a medium-small location, so don't expect a wide selection or they having any more exotic foods.

I have had some awesome experiences here from staff and management. From great customer service to the manager giving my kids cookies once. Baggers work for tips, so bring a couple extra dallars for them.

Your military or dependent ID required to enter. Good selection of American and foreign products, great prices and worth the little bit of time it takes to get to it. the commissary is worth the time and effort. Better selection of fresh vegetables is had locally in season but during the winter, the selection is fine and as fresh as can be had.The selection of European and Asian products rivals those in commissaries on foreign soil.

Usually a Tues is good. Meat Department was wonderful. Fresh veg not so good. I stock up on paper products..cleaners..and dairy..for a good bargain.

I love the comasarry. Always have what we need at such a good price. They take coupons as well. So some times you can catch there sale items woth a coupon and get a amazing deal

My cashier had pneumonia, and I had to watch her handle all of our food with our infant in my arms. I called after we left to voice my concern to management, and they assured me that pneumonia wasn't contagious, but some pneumonia are contagious.

This commissary is pretty small, makes sense for the size of the base but it is still kinda frustrating if you come from any place with a bigger commissary. Great selection and wonderful employees that are very helpful!

Your typical commissary on a small base. They have all the essentials. I like their produce a lot more than the grocery stores out in town. And, unlike the rest of Newport, they still have plastic bags!

Prices are comparable to Aldi, however Aldi is more accessible as a normal grocery store for 'permanent personnel'.Great quick lunch options in the deli.
