Compared to other B&N this is a bit smaller and their bargain book section reflects this. The staff has always been friendly, but the layout is a bit crowded. Might be only decent book store option on the island though.

Great selection in a clean and inviting atmosphere. This store has a wide variety of local interest books on Rhode Island, Newport, and the surrounding area. Lots of great titles on America's smallest state with a big history.

The store was renovated recently and they have a great selection of everything. Books, music, movies, and some really fantastic toys - including but not limited to the educational sorts! The cafe is a lovely spot to relax with a treat or with a Starbucks Coffee and get some work done.

Based on my most recent several visits, I’ve noticed that the employees (booksellers and cafe baristas) are impolite and surprisingly lack even the most rudimentary greetings. I’m guessing that it’s because they’re unhappy being there.The restrooms are really, really, really dirty and gross. See for yourself!Otherwise, I still enjoy going there because I love books, and B&N has a nice selection.

I'm a self proclaimed bibliophile so this place is dangerous for me. It is handicap accessible and has a good bathroom if you are in a wheelchair, the door can just be a little heavy. Edit: lately they seem to be short on a lot of books, but it's super easy to order them to be delivered to the store or your home at the checkout.

My fiance was overcharged for a book with her teacher discount, I took the receipt to fix the price but they said she had to be present to fix it... She already purchased it and I had the receipt. They couldn't fix something she already bought?

What's to say about Barnes and Noble? This location has a Starbucks but get your books first because they almost always give you a coupon for the Starbucks. They have a great magazine selection and an ample children's section. They have an oddly large media section which no one goes in so you think they could repurpose that somehow. Decent selection of gifts etc. Romance section is pitiful compared to space devoted to less popular genres. Great location, easy parking, needs more comfy chairs. Sometimes no one is at the register which is odd.

It's tough to review a bookstore. They have a lot of books, and you'll find something to read for sure. Haven't had much staff interaction, and I've never used the cafe. I bought a $15 book and got a coupon for $10 off cheesecake, it's strange. At least with a bookstore you can read a chapter before you buy a book, or pick something up and then decide on something else before you buy.

Love this location. They have friendly staff, and plenty of seating. I love taking my lunch break here at the café and catching up on some studying. The clearance bins are also worth a look, there seem to always be great deals!

Generally speaking this is just another B&N but the staff has always been polite and helpful. There's a huge selection of collectibles/toys at this location. Also a Starbucks inside the store. There's a regular storytime for parents of young kids and I've seen a few book signings and the like here. Best local periodical selection too.

I love the Middletown store! They rearranged it recently - the wall to the music section was removed and that area now contains a huge selection of games, puzzles, and items relating to Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, and the like, with lots of Japanese novelties. It has a more open feel to it. The movie section was consolidated and paired down but we love that they still carry Criterion (please stop using the "spider" cord security wrap - these are collectibles and the cords are so tight that it ruins the packaging!). Great to stop in at the Starbucks cafe and relax for a bit. I do feel that their sales are extremely limiting.

Typically well-stocked Barnes and Noble with friendly and knowledgeable staff. They recently downsized their CD/DVD/Vinyl section- it's still there, they just carry fewer CDs and the arrangement is different. Personally I preferred the old setup, but at least they still carry it. There's also a Starbucks inside, often one you get coupons for when you buy stuff in the store.

I asked this bookstore for a donation for a raffle, perhaps a gift certificate for one book - my best friend passed away and we were hosting a benefit dinner. He left behind his two young daughters and his wife. We held the benefit dinner to help his daughters with their upcoming college expenses. The manager at the time said no. We had more than 100 businesses participate and the only one that didn't was Barnes and Noble. I even sent an email to their corporate offices. This store came into our community and we support it. Why can't they recipricate that when we need them? This happened 7 years ago, but what they did still lingers. I still support the store and bring my 9 year old son there because I believe in community and the significance of it. I hope they changed their policy.

You can definitely see the wife and I hanging out here for two hours on a Saturday afternoon. While I don't read much of the books, we're sitting at the Starbucks inside of it, just chatting, arguing and sipping on our choice of poison.The bargain bins of this store has a lot to offer for those with niche tastes.I'd give this place 5 stars if it had wifi. Hell, even the Petco next to this establishment has wifi. Perhaps it's B&N's attempt to get people to read more?
