Really love this beach, went with my friend to catch the sunrise (i think it's one of the best spots in Rhody to do this). Its a nice peaceful drive as well. Doesnt get too packed. Love the clarity of this beach.Beware of the seagulls they will try to steal your food. Not much red sea weed here compared to Newport. There are restrooms (outdoor porter pottys). During high tide its a little more rocky.

Right now, the beach is entirely covered with large rocks and stones. All washed up from a storm. Its going to take some work to get it back to the sandy beach that it is.

Great little beach, tucked away in RI. Public pay for parking if you dont have a resident pass. Very busy and parking full during the day. Lifeguards present during the day. Evening visits are less busy. I've seen the best sunsets here! Ocean on one side, marsh on the other. Rocky parts - needs shoes for sure to get down to the beach. Great place!!

Gorgeous small beach! We come here a lot since it's not too crowded, it's nice and quiet, and there's tons of lovely smooth rocks to appreciate ❤️ The water can be great for swimming and wave jumping too, I've seen lots of people with boards out too since the waves are so nice. Definitely the beach for anyone looking for quiet and relaxation 🏖️🐚

Wow! I’ve been wating to review this one. First of all, the South Shore and greater goose wing beaches are amazing! The lifeguards are incredible nice and there are plenty of nearby ponds for swimming and fishing in. Just DO NOT! Expect a spot in the summer. I’m a yearlong resident and the population doubles in the summer. Great place! 💛

Went here after a big storm. So many stones got washed up the beach that the sand parking lot went from being the length of a football field, if not longer, to just 30 feet. Footing was tough to get our walk started, but the rocks eventually subside. Always a beautiful walk, and wild to see what the power of nature can do in a night with all those rocks.

South shore beach was so peaceful at night. We pulled up and someone left a little fire going so we found 3 more logs to put in and enjoyed laying in back of truck listening to the waves and staring at the night sky. I did forget bug spray and next time will definitely remember it.. phone didnt take good pictures at night but the view was beautiful.

My family and I enjoyed it. It’s a small beach and not overly crowded. It was a nice breezy July day and not hot. The water was cold, compared to what I’m used to (North Carolina), so it was quite nice. There were a lot of river rocks and the beach was very clean. There weren’t many shells until you get to the rocky side. There were tons all around the large rocks.

What a great beach! Almost all sand, great waves and clear water. Get there by 10:00 am parking runs out early If you want to park right near the beach, and I mean 20 feet away from it!. The parking lot opens up at 8 o’clock for general admission, the tides are what rule this beach when it’s high tide there’s no room really to sit some days but typically you’ve always got some space. It’s a short walk to the Porta Johns as well as the hotdog vendor located directly in the middle of the parking lot.

Love this place, but only at low tide. If you go at high tide there is no beach to hang out on. It's pretty expensive during the day at $20, but free after 5. Very few picnic tables. Many port-a-johns. This is a huge beach that turns into another more beautiful, Goosewing Beach. Be willing to walk for that.

Great spot, its noce to setup right outside of your vehicle. the sand area is quite small and at high tide you will be sitting at the edge of the parking area.BEWARE: $20 entry fee per vehicle for non-Little Compton residents** dogs are permitted & can be off-leash at 5pm.

Used to be the best beach around until some of the residents started hanging out at the gate and lying to people saying it was a private beach now for residents only.

This is our local beach. It is gorgeous year round. It gets crowded on summer weekends. If you walk east from the parking lot, you cross a breachway onto Goosewing Beach which is pristine and owned by The Nature Conservancy. Quicksand Pond backs onto Goosewing about 1/4 mile from South Shore. Be sure to check the tides as there’s not much sand at high tide. Also, the beach changes frequently during storms, so there can be rocks at times. Walk a mile to Quicksand Point in Westport, MA

It's a nice beach with some areas with rocks but for most part sandy the only thing that is a downside is the price to pay to get into south shore $15.00 for weekdays & $20 weekends

The closer you are to the parking entrance, the less rocks you have to deal with both on the beach and in the water. Late day red tide sometimes keeps us out of the water. But overall nice and clean. The town could do better with restrooms/changing area. They charge enough to park there to cover the cost to improve!Lifeguards leave promptly at 5pm on weekends.

Love this beach, I've been going here since I was little. Shame that erosion is eating away the parking lot and some of the beach though. And the price went up to 20 dollars probably because of this... nothing much you can do about it. :/

We went when it was rainy and much to our surprise, the rain made the agates on the beach really POP with color. The surfers and boogie boarders were enjoying the waves. We saw piping plovers and a sand piper. All in all great beach.

Gorgeous little beach. Water is clear and waves are typically small. Sand is good and smooth. Lifeguards on duty are attentive. Can surf here as well.
