Good place to relax after a day of fishing. We had a one bedroom. The reason that I wanted that is because it has a full size refrigerator with a kitchenette. The location was convenient. The place was clean and the shower provided hot water with good pressure. For the price it's a good place to rest your head for a night or two.10/23 ‐ Went back again for another fishing trip. It appears that the rooms have been upgraded since my last stay. The room was a one bedroom with a full kitchen (full fridge and oven stainless steel appliances). There were plenty of utensils and items if you want to whip up a quick meal. It also had a washer and dryer (which came in handy as we quickly threw our fishing clothes in there). It also had split a/c heating units. Check-in and check-out was seamless. And it was at a very convenient location to the fishing charter (10 minutes).

For our first trip to Rhode Island, this gem of a place was recommended to us by a family member and we were not disappointed at all!! The rooms were clean, modern, and very nicely decorated. In speaking to the amazing friendly and kind staff, we were informed that the rooms were just renovated. I love the sliding barn door over the bathroom instead of your traditional door, such a space saver. The property was clean as well and so much to do from putt putt to shuffle board and the pool was amazing. My daughter just had an amazing time and she met a little friend there as well. Such a great little gem, close to everything, and right off the main road and close to a Dunks to boot!! We will definitely be staying there again and making them part of our family tradition.

We stayed in a one queen bed (one room) that appears to have been completely and tastefully renovated with grays and whites, new flooring and wall treatments, new shower, sink, and furniture. (Photos don’t represent our room number 5 at all!). The shower has excellent lighting, linens and room were spotless. Comfortable bed and pillows. Not luxurious but an upgraded cabin- like feel - we would stay here again and were glad to find this comparatively well- priced room in an over-priced area. In fact, we booked a second night before catching the ferry to Block AIsland the next day. Two possible cons (not for us): no deadbolt on door (we felt perfectly safe) and we could hear occasional voices outside and next door but it was perfectly quiet at bedtime during our stay. Pool also looked nice although we didn’t use it.

So b4 coming I had actually read tons of reviews. Some good & bad for all local motels in this area. But folks attending the Nordic Lodge reccomend this place because of location & I see why. Plus they had some good honest reviews. So glad we chose this place to lay our heads. The room is about the size of a bedroom (11 x17). Had a Queensize bed. It is recently updated with very modern flooring like wood planks, new wall paper that I love, new furniture with dressing mirror & hooks, micro wave, little fridge, lamps with charger, new heating system located over the bed, desk in the corner with coffee, whole new bathroom with the sliding barn door, great wallpaper, new shower, just very cute & clean with white towels. Plus my bed was comfy & clean, with mattress cover and all. Will definitely stay here again if all the rooms are like Room #8 will return.ifcever needing a place to rest my head see photos

Interior is modern and looks nice. Only had a half toilet paper roll in our room. Also would have been nice to have a couple water bottles. A/C light was very bright on our faces all night and it would have been nice to have a real blanket instead of sheets only. Ended up finding a blanket in a drawer. Overall, very clean and quaint. Wonderfully located in a small beach town.

My niece and I stayed here just last night on our way to Block Island. What an absolutely beautiful place. The rooms are completely renovated as well as the outside and it was just perfect in every way. The grounds are meticulously cared for and the pool and yard are so well thought out, they haven’t forgot a single thing. If you are in the area and need a place to stay, Phil and Ann’s is the place. We also met the resident manager Gil who was just a delight!!!

Phil and Ann's is a great spot in Charleston. Rooms are completely renovated. Exceptionally clean. Microsoft wave and mini fridge, coffee. Grounds had a beautiful pool, sandbox for kids, basketball, bike's, shuffleboard, fire pit..etc. The only thing I didn't like was the pillows on the bed. Extremely soft and not supportive. It wouldn't deter me from staying again but I would definitely bring my pillow from home

Phil and Anne's Sunset Motel is a gem. Photos on the website need to be updated because they have renovated the space (at least the room we stayed in). The décor is of modern design with no carpet. The room was spotless with bright white bedding and towels. The new cooling system kept the room at a great temperature. I wish we stayed longer to enjoy all the outdoor activities on the site. I highly recommend this motel.

Room was Beautiful ! Staff was Top Notch ! Room was Clean and had everything we needed . Landscaping was immaculate and the Flowers were Gorgeous. You can tell Phil takes Pride in the outside and his little Dog follows him everywhere, so Cute ! I can not wait to go back ! We went for a Parents getaway and honestly cant wait to bring my Daughter back next Summer!

We just stayed there at the end of July for a weekend during the folk festival. It was an easy drive to and from Newport, matunuck, Narragansett, etc. We had a dog, baby,teenage boy and two adults. We lucked out and got to stay in the cottage. Fantastic to have the extra room plus Cooper had the run of the yard. Such a dog & kid friendly place. The pool is great lots of pool toys, bikes for everyone. Loved loved this place. It's definitely old school but they are making upgrades. Very clean, very friendly staff/owners. Lots of food close by, weekend flea market down the street. I will definitely be back. Especially for dog people! Loved the visit!

Currently staying here with my boyfriend and I’m so thrilled with this place. I’ve been here for one night and already I’m so impressed. The room was clean, the hosts are kind, they have a little in ground pool, and they have a yard full of different games such as shuffle board, corn hole, horse shoes, giant Jenga, etc. They even have a hammock that you can chill on. 5 stars all the way. Will definitely return.

This is a very adorable and accommodating stay. All updated appliances and very modern and clean! Also they have a ton of activities on premise. My mom and I went bike riding with the bikes they have to the beach. Also very close proximity to Charlestown beach. Definitely recommend if your planning to vacation or just stay a night in Rhode Island.

We just stayed in their smallest room, the room with 1 queen bed. The room wasn’t much bigger than the bed. The shower was awful. They have one of those misting showerheads to save water but it didn’t work right. The walls are paper thin so we had to listen to the guys next door party til wee hrs. The woman in the office was friendly and very quiet and reserved. The room was clean, the bed uncomfortable as hell. There was an AC, tiny mini fridge and microwave. There’s a nice small in ground pool and shuffle board.

My husband and I stayed one night after day trip to Block Island The motel room and bathroom were spotless, nicely decorated and the grounds were lovely. It appears that there are bicycles to use for kids and adults, a fire pit that was going in the evening and the outdoor pool. Highly recommend and we will likely return when in the area.

'Very disappointing choice for our getaway.”The location was very convenient for our trip to Westerly, RI. The owner sounded very accommodating, when I called, and even let us to check out 1 hour later the next morning. The room #9 is small, but it looked OK when we arrived. I was stunned to see dirty stains on the mattress cover, but it was quite late, and there was no one in the office at night to let someone know about such an unpleasant problem. So my husband and I had no choice,but to stay there and try to get some rest. The blinds had a lot of stains also, rust on the bathroom radiators. I did show all those stains to the lady in the office in the morning. She agreed that it's not a good impression of this place, and would let the owner know about it. Even though all rooms are non-smoking, some people smoke right outside your door, and we are very sensitive to the smell of cigarettes. Overall my husband and I were very disappointed with this motel.

Phil and Ann's has such a home filled environment. This was the second time i stood here. The first time they had added more rooms, and the wifi did not reach to the further new added rooms. This time when i went they had a new wifi that worked specifically for the new additions, im so happy that they were able to update it. I love staying here because the people are so nice! Even the staff who cleans the rooms, if you dont ask for cleaning service, they still stop by and ask if you need anything, which is great! I love how there are so many things to do just to relax on the motel site. There are bikes which are convenient to just bike ride to the mini mart right next door, or even the ice cream shop a few blocks down! You can save gas, and enjoy the outdoors. The rooms are always so clean and ready as soon as you check in. I would recommend staying here anytime that you need a get a way, but still want to feel at home!!

It's clean, the owners and their workers are very nice & accommodating, nice for families & pets, bicycles, pool, basketball & shuffleboard. Is very quaint for a motel without the stuffiness of a B&B.We go every year now, and my husband has been going to the area since he was a boy.

The motel is dated. Faucet in bathroom didnt work. Called to complain about some very drunk people right out side our bedroom. The bed was comfortable and the rooms were clean but when we called to complain the people making all the noise and causeing us to feel uncomfortable still didn't leave right away. In the morning when we left someone had thrown dirt and grass on the back of our truck. We think theses pe workers thereople worked ther.

We were in town for a family emergency. They were extremely helpful and accommodating. Excellent customer service. They are currently remodeling -rooms are fantastic! We will stay here the next time we visit family!

Had a great stay. We rented the efficiency room queen and Murphy bed. Bed was ok not crazy about blanket . Clean fresh rooms. Toiletries and linens provided. Cupboard space to store food. One area/outlet for microwave, toaster ,coffe pot not a big deal. Next time I'll bring an extension cord we can utilize kitchen table for coffee pot. Activities were great for grand kids. Pool , free use of bicycles, wiffleball, badmitting, volleybal, basketball. They also have charcoal grills and a fire pit and they supply the wood. Had a blast will definitely be back. My grandkids 4-12 and the adults enjoyed it very much.

This is my second time staying at Phil & Ann's, and I will continue to stay there every time I'm in the area. Right off the highway, tucked away a little bit. Cleanliness was fantastic, WiFi was strong, A/C worked. Couldn't have asked for better service!

A word to the wise. Beware of scam from the owner. For a 10% discount, I paid cash in advance for four nights. The next morning, there was no hot water. It took all day to fix it. I had meetings planned and I was afraid of a recurrence, so I asked the owner, Gil Barnes, to check me out and refund three nights of the charges. He refused, saying he would refund it if he could rent the room for the next three nights. I told him I would stay, but that I would post a review of the situation online.<br/>He became enraged, and ordered me to leave his property. I said I would do so if he refunded for the three nights. He refused, so I called the local police for a resolution. The officer who came said that, under RI law, he had the right to send me away, but to get my money, I would have to file a civil suit. Obviously, it was not worth another trip from California to get back a few hundred dollars. Don't get caught in this situation.
