This review is about the cabins available at Burlingame, there is very little information about them online. Ours was brand-new, sitting on a tidy concrete slab, with windows on each end with good screens to keep out insects. No electricity or water, so bring a lantern. Also, Burlingame is very sandy: it would be a good idea to bring a small outside mat or broom to deal with the sand. There are 2 bunk beds with 4 single beds. No mattresses, just a piece of plywood, so bring a mattress or pad. We loved the cabin. It's a luxury to be able to stand up and not deal with a tent zipper. No grill, only a fire pit, so bring one for cooking. I'm taking off a star due to the very long walk to the restrooms/showers, with no evident path to it from the cabin area (and that park map needs an update!). The nearby port-a-potty was OK though. Burlingame is huge, but our cabin area (on the edge of the campground) was very quiet and we slept great. Beautiful forest, and it's close to many great beaches & trails. The people who run the campground are great. We will be back...

Overall, it was a decent experience. Quiet time should start at 10 pm, but campers were still screaming at 330 in the morning as well as banging around. The restrooms are dirty and crowded. Good for childrenwith plenty of activities, including an arcade and park, FYI, no lifeguard at the beach. I would have given a higher rating if it wasn't for the noise throughout the entire night that took away from the camping experience.Playground: It has a nice park as well as a huge field to play in.Restrooms: Dirty and crowded.Dog-friendliness: They allow dogsPicnic area: Each site has a picnic table. Be sure to bring a table cloth for it.

One of the most beautiful sunrise I have ever seen! Campsites are great, good space, great shadows for tents, love the fire pit made by stones. The restrooms are super clean, very good shower. Amazing view from the lake and great hiking trails. Plus it’s super close from the beach.

Watch out for this place if you want to enjoy yourself on your trip. The park staff is overbearing, rude, and unhelpful. If you try to help clean up the area around your site of dead wood to burn the will threaten to kick your family out and scare your children. But are unavailable at 1am when the drunks are screaming. Was great in the past but somethings changed here and it's not for the better. Steer clear because as an avid camper there is definitely better local campgrounds around.

Went with my GF for our 4 yr anniversary! Worth the drive from Western CT, staff was extremely friendly upon our after-dark visit, and the store and amenities at the park were unmatched. As someone who has camped my whole life, I was puzzled as to how I had never been there before.

Not a bad camping spot while in Rhode Island! Spent 2-nights here this summer and had a good time.

Been coming here since I was a kid (for over 20 years!) and now I bring my kids! We have our favorite site and can usually get it. The bathrooms and Sani cans were clean. Swimming in the lake was fun and the camp store was stocked. All in all, always a fun time!Update:If you'd like a site that is a bit more "secluded" there are quite a few. Ask the staff and check out the YouTube videos of the sites because they help see that.

Perfect campground tucked away unexpectedly (unexpected for a girl relatively new to the area) there's a day picnic area on one side of the lake which is exactly what it sounds like- an area with lake access for swimming and spending the day. Across the lake is the overnight campgrounds with an awesome little lake swimming area/ beach, cabins, camp sites, arcade, store, playground and a few other things sprinkled throughout. This place took me back to a simpler time in life, neighboring campers were friendly and respectful, the campgrounds clean and well maintained, the swimming area suited for everyone. Great place to camp, kayak, stand up paddle board and make lasting memories

We stayed overnight in this beautiful and Huge campground, no water and electricity on the site but there are nearby public bathrooms. There is a pond/beach where we enjoyed swimming.Do not come before 1pm, they will not let you in.Do not forget to register your pet.Pre-checkin before coming to the site especially on the weekend.Enjoy!

Largest campground easy of the Mississippi according to the staff. Over 800 sites.Campground and store.Pet friendly (bring Rabies certificate).Site numbers are hard to read - they're painted on the rocks in yellow on a red background. Numbers should be in reflective white at least.Needs better signs on where you're going. In addition, site map is wrong in some cases - they need to re-do it. Road in a lot of places is narrow for ONE car yet is two-way on top of lack of signs, hard to read site numbers, and inaccurate map.In the main camp area many sites have curbs that mess up your car or get you stuck. There's nowhere to park. They should be listed as high clearance vehicle only sites. The campground beach fits about 30 people for 800 sites. There's a handful of parking spots right there. Someone had an unleashed dog swimming there where people swim (unsanitary). There are no signs saying this is prohibited so 😕 guess it's allowed (?).Boat ramp is miniscule and meant for kayaks, canoes, sups, and maybe rowboats. Since the beach is so small maybe they expect people to rent a canoe from the camp store so they can jump out and swim (?)....the camp store to rent the canoe is way too far away from the boat ramp launch so you can't carry it and would have to strap it to your vehicle somehow...be prepared for that. They should drop the rentals off at the launch for you.Staff seems generally tired and annoyed. Like they all hate their jobs.Bathrooms were fine not amazing. Portables restrooms supplement the flush buildings. Portable restrooms were near full even on a weekend when campground was about half or less capacity. No dog park. Multiple campers were looking for one. Please build one.Mosquitoes galore. Brutal. No enforcement of quiet time. I don't believe they patrol so you have to call in if you need something. But stuff may be annoyed or may not care.Sites can be a little close together. Main camp area has the least privacy / least vegetation. Partial shade. All in all I can't say I'm impressed or that I would be back other than it's close to the ocean down the street. There you have it.

I really like this campground when I can escape midweek and avoid the crowds. So peaceful, and plenty of hiking trails.

Good experience for first time campers. If it’s clear sky then stargazing is treat.Quiet hours start at 10pm, that’s too early in todays world. At least time should be flexible on weekends, specially on hottest days/nights.Camp sites 481, 483, 485, 487 were all wet due to rain(24-48 hrs prior).Restrooms: Very bad, need cleaning.Showers are not free, you pay $1 for shower.

One of the worst camping experiences I've ever had. I have camped in dozens of camp grounds across the country and this was miserable. On a Friday, It feels more like a music festival (but without music) with tightly packed camp grounds, no privacy, and many large, loud groups partying into the night. There were no restroom facilities anywhere near our camp ground. If you're coming to party with friends this might be for you, but if you're just looking for a good night's rest or family friendly night of camping, this is NOT the place. Stay Away!Restrooms: There were 2 porta potties.Dog-friendliness: Dog friendly, but many poorly behaved dogs around

I've always loved this campground. Rhode island resident and I've come here almost my entire life. Was sad to find out I couldn't drive through to check out the sites. Wanted to make sure there was enough room for my trailer. They said I could walk the 800 plus sites! Or check out the YouTube videos. Several hundred of them also. They need to reconsider letting people at least drive through.

Its a great campground for the area. Right near that big stretch of beach, bars, and the amusement park. And its on a pind where you can fish. Everyone who works there seems nice. Not all the bathrooms were open when I went so be advised.

Me and my two girls (7 and 4) really enjoyed our stay. The camp sites were a nice variety in seclusion or public. We were able to find private little corners to be by ourselves but go to the arcade to mix it up with other kids. I think I enjoyed the arcade more though :)We stayed in one of the cabins which I really enjoyed. It was lockable and just the right size. The staff was courteous and helpful. We will be coming back again next year. It’s helpful if you bring bikes to get around the park. Some of the activities are a little far.Only strange thing was you have to pay for the shower. In quarters. :(

The campsites were all on top of each other and other campers were loud into the night and early morning. If you have to use the bathroom be prepared to go in the woods, in a disgusting portapotty, or walk over a mile for a clogged toilet and unclean restroom. It was also a hike to a water spout which made cooking difficult. There were also no signs so we got lost in the maze of crowded campsites every time we left our camp. The map they provided was so tiny we couldn't read it and we needed to use our phone to find our way around. The beaches were incredibly crowded. However it was a close drive to some very nice state beaches. Wouldn't come here again or recommend. Perhaps it would have been better with a camper

Site was decent, water on pond was clean, had a decent time. They had a no fire ban for the weekend that we stayed because of the drought (understandable). However we asked if there was any acceptable alternative prior to going and they said as long as it was a small propane fire pit (something that could be turned off) it would be okay. We bought a small propane fire pit because we wanted to have something. We had 2 rangers stop by one night who thought we had a wood fire going and when he saw that it was propane they said it was okay, 2 hours later an employee of the camp ground came by and said we had to stop using it. We let him know that we called ahead and that 2 rangers said it was okay, he said it didn't matter and made us turn it off...meanwhile all around us there was campers with mutliple torches and that was fine. Also this was after we had rain 2 days in row including a heavy rain day....was very frustrating.

The campsites do not indicate where they even end so its kind of just up to you to figure it out. It's barely even camping you'd be better off in an open field. People are rude and walk through the middle of your campsite and when you ask them to stop they do it more and walk around with empty gun holsters with thier shirt over it to "scare" you I guess if you don't know a lot about firearms. The only redeeming factor is the staff is super friendly and is always willing to help. But I would recommend just going up north

- There are a lot of families and big groups there with kids.Pro:- It’s definitely big so it’s easy to book last minute.- They open 24 hours with people guarding the gate and checking the registration status every time a car gets in.- It’s very close to Frosty Drew Observatory.Cons:- There’s not much privacy between the sites.- The formal facilities (restroom with showering and sinks) are not enough and far away considering the size of the campground. I had to drive there every time from my campsite.- The restrooms are dirty too. Not sure how often they clean as I can see the number of dead flies accumulate on top of the sink during my 2-night stay there.- The shower head is operative by coins. However, there’re barely any instructions and not all shower head works.

This is one of the best state park campgrounds we have been to. You can find private sites and sites where you can get a group together. Bathrooms are clean, people are friendly. The beaches in the area are fun, and not overly crowded. We have been coming here for 7 years and it is one of the only campgrounds we repeatedly come back to. Love this place!

This park is absolutely absurd when it comes to common sense. Parking rules are ridiculously strict. They have no leniency to motorcyclists and force you to buy an extra campsite you won’t even use if you have more than two motorcycles in your group. This is the strictest, rule following park I’ve ever seen.

Such a beautiful area. The campground has decently sized sites, some more private than others, with spartan bathhouses that are few and far between. We stayed near the beach, which was great for our little kids and provided access to the lake for our canoe. Playground is also pretty nice and the camp store has everything one could possibly need. Some loud campers one of the two nights we were there, and no one came by to enforce quiet hours. Not enough toilets or showers even midweek, so I imagine weekends must be crazy.

Really nice camp sites. They are a decent size and well spread out. The grounds were almost full when we were there, but it was never too noisy. Lots of families and cookouts. There are lots of different facilities on the grounds (shop with lots of food and great, athletics and playgrounds) and is right on the lake. The only downside was the smaller number of bathrooms and reliance on Porta-potties.
