This place always has 50 percent off everyday depending on the color code of the day. There is alway so kinda gems in here I look through and find some good stuff I found a couple items in here paid a couple bucks for and sold online for big profits. It’s like a well organized treasure hunt. They have everything all sorted nice and easy to find. They take debit/credit and cash witch is nice because a lot of thrift stores only take cash. The employees that work here are locals and super nice and always helpful. So I give this place 5 stars -and love coming here if this was helpful in anyway please like?

The prices and contents of the store were great, however the older women at the counter were downright NASTY. It was over 20 minutes before closing and they were practically yelling for everyone (myself, sister, and literally 2 other people) to leave. When I brought everything to the counter they dead-stared at me when I said that I didn't want an item but was intent on buying other things in my cart. As someone who works in service, I am normally very understanding of service workers but I said forget it and put everything back on the shelves. I know that it's not an airport, I don't need to announce my departure, but I will not be coming back and will not be recommending this store to anyone else.

One of the only thrifts stores in the Pittsburgh areas where most basic items are thrift price. You can still get jeans for $3-8, polos/tshirts $3-6, shoes/boots for $5-15. They stuff they price up is usually appropriate and still worth it on deal days.

Honestly prices are so much higher than American Thrift and goodwill I don't get it also looked see if I can call corporate on this and found out there not associated with American Thrifts the website has for FL, NJ and NY no PA location. Some staff very helpful but to old ladies up front if your that old n miserable retire or go home. Don't take your attitude out on me.

I love this store so much. If your on a budget and need cute stuff that's great quality come here. They have everything gently used and sometimes even new. Best find yet for me was a 300.00 UGG blanket for 40.00 just in time for the winter. No to mention my TV stand originally 79.00 got it for half of and definitely cost probably $250-$300 brand new.

This store is well organized, and the prices are better than those at any Goodwill. One star is being deducted because they need a changing room to try on clothes.

Not a bad place. The prices are reasonable and the have a large selection of clothing. My only complaint would be that there are no fitting rooms to try things on. Even though the prices are decent, I don't like taking the risk of spending money on something that doesn't fit or look nice. I did not find the staff to be very inviting or nice. Everyone we encountered had a negative attitude.

I have been going to this store for the last 18 years. Most of the staff are super friendly, I've only a handful of times got a worker with an attitude. Their time there was short lived. The selection changes daily and prices are fair, but if you're a senior and go on senior day you can save, or on Fridays they have special color ticket sales. This store in the last 18 years has decorated my yard, house and clothed my 3 kids. Great place for people trying to not over pay big store prices

This thrift store has some of the best prices in the Pittsburgh area add the tag sale on top it's a phenomenal price. They have an awesome well organised clothing selection with many brand new treasures mixed in. They also have a nice selection of trinkets and small items including toys. I scored a brand new close out of a men's long sleeve $79 shirt for $8. I shouldn't be telling you all this good information but now you know check it out Worth the drive

This evening myself, my wife and my daughter stopped by the American Thrift Center in West Mifflin at 1806 Homeville Rd to do some shopping. It was our first visit there and at first we found it to be a pleasant place. We looked them up online and found out that their store hours were 8:00am - 8:00pmMon-Fri, which were the same hours on their door. We arrived about 6:45pm, at 7:31pm a older senior citizen female possibility the store manager announced over the stores PA system that the store would be closing shortly and to bring your items to the register; again the store hours online & on their front door says 8:00pm. At 7:37pm the woman announced again but with a very irritated and elevated tone of voice that the store is closing, bring your items to the register now! At this point my wife was walking up to the register were my wife and I both ask her about all the signs that say you close at 8:00pm? She answered in a irritated and rude fashion that “We close at 7:45pm, we have to be out of the building at 8:00pm! She finished by saying “We have things to do ourselves” I told her that the 3 of us work as well and we knew how business hours work, and then I suggested to her that if that is the case she might want to look into changing the business hours on the door and online to say 7:45pm instead of 8:00pm! I say all that to end with these words. Whether we ever shop there again hasn’t been determined yet, I just want to let American Thrift Center management know who they have working for them. Myself, my wife and daughter all work with the public in sales and the medical fields and I know if we treated our customers and patients the way we were treated this evening we probably would have our jobs for long.Ced Slaughter 10/1/20

I love this Thrift Store. Great selection on clothes, shoes,and misc. items. The girls work really hard to keep the store clean, santinzed, and very organized. Friendly staff and always willing to assist customers with his or her needs. You will always find a great treasure at a great price at American Thrift.

I bought three jewelry bags and they were filled with nothing but broken jewelry. The bags should have been marked JUNK. I will never shop there again. The lady at the front counter keeps everything that has any value. One of the workers said, you’ll never find anything of value in those. I asked if the person who sorts them keeps them for herself, She smiled as if the answer was yes.

I used to like to shop here. A lot. But recently I noticed their prices on name brand clothing has gone WAY up. Now this wouldn't be such a big deal if you could return or TRY THINGS ON. But you can't. Who wants to pay $20 for a pair of used jeans that you can't try on? I bought a pair of Levi's for $20 there the other day. The tags said they were my size but when I got home and tried them on they were way too short. I feel like I just got gyped out of $20.

This review pains me to write. We used to love this thrift store. We live quite a distance and at minimum we came shop and donate weekly. Over 20+ years we have donated from our homes to the paralyzed vets and we bring new or gently used items to the store Combining donations and what we spend on items our contribution is substantial. Over the past year we have tried to support local businesses. When the thrift store reopened we were right there. Unfortunately this establishment is anti mask, anti vaccination and they are very open and rude about it. They were on the floor maskless and allowed customers to shop maskless. We tried to stay away from customers and staff to no avail. I took clean sealed masks and asked customers not social distancing from me if they would like one. Some people were coughing and one lady was on her phone telling her son he needed to go to the hospital because he had a fever. We remained home for awhile during those first case and death surges. We came back and most staff was better..masking on the floor and only in the back room was it off. Mask required on their site and doors and register partition posted social distancing and face coverings. Beside our masks and hand sanitizer we bring hydrogen peroxide in a small spray bottle. We spray the cart handles and our hands as we touch items. We do everything to be safe for ourselves and others. We all have a right to shop safely and we are confused by the complacency of others. Yesterday a maskless woman was next to me no matter where I went. I asked her to put on a mask, she replied she was over it and she bought nothing. My friend stopped to ask an employee if they wait on customers refusing to wear a mask? Employee (mask under her nose) was confused. I said masks were mandated for now until we are vaccinated and the variants subside (and we achieve herd immunity) She got irate and so oh no vaccination and they only end to this was getting rid of the dam masks. I questioned her on mandate definition and she repeated it’s not a law. We give up the no win argument and pay for our items. Cashier puts on her mask to wait on us and is pleasant. We are confronted by “manger outside, do we have a problem? Reply yes, the masks..why is on your door if don’t enforce it? She went into full Karen we didn’t have to shop or donate here. I didn’t want that outcome because we love this weekly outing. I asked to speak to the owner. I thought she was calling him but she called the police. This is ridiculous. We all want this nonsense to end, we are pandemic fatigued. But until we all cooperate it drags on endlessly. This is not about taking freedoms away it is about no ones rights superseding another’s. Now the thrift store, paralyzed vets and us lose out because of the imposition of wearing a mask for awhile longer.

Love this store. They have everything, not only clothes. Now that I am retired, I visit the store weekly, usually on Fridays for half off on everything. Great staff, fast, efficient and if you are looking for a specific, they can point you in the right direction. Keep up the great work

Has lot great finds way better than Goodwill southside. I like that they seperate mens and womens shoes. They even have lotto machine.Edit 12/06/2020: 1st review stands but i went in 12:05 5:40 they close at six i was in their maybe 60 seconds and they start turning out the lights and state closing all purchases to the front. Ummm you close at 6 and i was in their to get a coat. So i rushed got one that didnt fit. Day two: I call ask sku number for jacket i saw and briefly color of the tag (As no prices actually marked which is illegal and they can answer to BBB when all said and done. But clerk tells me 35.00 i get their go get the coat and stuff animal and small barbie. the grand total is 73.00. Now i figured the prices were the tags skus but clerk told me they werent so either your clerks need replaced or your tagging needs updated. I wont be going back finding new thrift shops to support

This has always been one of my favorite thrift stores. Prices are good, sales are really good, and the store is always very clean. There is a large assortment of clothing, shoes, household items, and more, and the staff is usually very friendly as well.

The staff was rude, They have a large selection of clothes but not for plus size people, they have no fitting room's, and apon checking out my bags were almost shoved off of the counter by the staff in order to get to the only other customer behind me. Finally when I expressed how rude they were being the two staff members working laughed amd ingnored me. I would not recommend shopping there at all.

American Thrift Center donates percentage of its gross to Keystone Paralyzed Veterans of America. This money is used to support Veterans with spinal cord related issues. Some Veterans participate in National Wheelchair Games, Buckeye Wheelchair Games, hunting, fishing, quad Rugby, bowling, bocce and much more. Your purchases directly benefit Veterans who need inpatient care who stay at the VA and more active members like me. Thank you for helping Veterans remain active and live more meaningful lives.
