Baldwin's Book Barn is a literary haven tucked away in the heart of West Chester. The historic setting in a dairy barn adds to the charm, and the collection of rare and used books is a treasure trove for any book enthusiast. The knowledgeable staff and cozy ambiance make each visit a delightful exploration into the world of literature. A must-visit for those seeking the magic of well-preserved stories.

Diamond in the rough. You can get lost in this place for hours. The sales lady “Carol” raises the bar of customer service to a whole other level. Worth the trip. You are guaranteed to return !

This store is wonderful. There are five floors of so many genres of books. I could have spent the whole day there.

Books everywhere! What a place! Fantastic old building with lots of history and character filled with books at every turn you take. The books could be a bit tidier and more organized but I still liked it and thoroughly enjoyed the whole vibe of the place. It has all kinds of books and many categories. They're everywhere!I bought a couple of books and they have local honey, so I bought a jar of that too.I would recommend a visit if you want an adventure in a world of books and just to see what thousands and thousands of books in an old barn look like. It's not organized like a library or has everything new like B&N. So Iwouldn't go with having any expectations of finding the latest release by your favorite author, so bear in Mind it is a used book store in an old building. The place is a bit dusty, fusty, there's old creaky stairs, creaky floors, low beams in doorways in places to get to the different floors. I personally love places like that though and I have no problem with it.

Wild place, random staircases everywhere, 200 year old building, and a startling selection of books

One of my all time favorite places to go! I wish I could be at the Book Barn more often--but my wallet won't allow for multiple repeat trips due to all the books I inevitably leave with. Definitely a must-see. I bring visitors here all the time and it's always a hit.

The owners seem nice and this is a cool place to explore with four floors and lots of stairs but it wasn’t for our group of readers. Unless you like or are looking for really old books/war books/naval books you probably won’t find much here. The only books from the past two decades I saw was Harry Potter and Breaking Dawn. Prices seemed to generally be half the cover price, which felt high for some books.

I live this bookshop! Hasn't changed much in my lifetime. Always a special experience and the opportunity for great finds.

How much can I say about this place? What a treasure! We had a great time and could've spent hours there. The barn itself is a gem. So many cubbies and reading nooks.Carol is an absolute precious soul and is so helpful! We will be back!

First time going to the barn and it was a dream come true! The feeling of this charming book store exceeded my expectations as I explored all four floors. As a English student in college it was fun to thumb through all the famous books I’ve heard of. I had a couple books in mind I wanted to find, I only found two but ended up walking out with six books total! (For a very reasonable price) The management is beyond friendly and helpful. Do yourself a favor and go visit!

Always fun rambling through the sections of books. You never know what gem you'll find. Books which have someone's flower pressings from their visit to Versailles or signed editions just sitting about

Like books? Be warned then. You'll most likely get lost in the endless aisles of books and lose yourself in stacks of reasonably priced reading for hours! A fascinating place just to visit, I left with 6 books and hadn't even begun. 4 floors, thousands of books. If you're not one to climb narrow stairs or navigate narrow passages, keep that in mind. A must try experience for the avid reader. Has tiny room of DVDs, and sheet music also.

This place was great! Far too much to digest in one visit, so I'm looking forward to coming back. Picked up two completely unexpected books for myself, and really enjoyed thumbing through all the different books. The building is perfect for housing so many books, and I imagine on a dreary winter day you could burn up a few hours and not even know it. Love the old wooden arch doors.

Everything you could ever want in a historic bookstore. The building is deceptively big, and it is an adventure to go through all four floors of books. They are categorized into genres, and there is such a charm to the place that only a building built in 1822 can have. The staff are amazingly friendly, and highly recommend you stopping by.

It was such an amazing experience wandering for hours through 4 floors worth of books! They have TONS of books on every topic, although a lot of them are older and on the pricey side for used books. I mainly enjoyed the experience of seeing such a wonderful old structure filled with my favorite thing (boooooks!!) If you are in the area you should definitely stop by. Bundle up if it’s cold outside, they do not have modern heating/cooling amenities.

Amazing! I spent so much time exploring the shelves on all 4 floors. The weather was 90 degrees outside but inside the barn it was a perfect temperature. How they keep everything so clean is beyond me. I will be sure to come back again on my next trip.

Amazing place. As a booklover, I couldn't recommend this place higher. Incredible old building with more than 250,000 books- what more can you ask? Just make sure you have ample time to browse all the gems here that spread into 4 floors. From collectible editions, old school children books, poetry and non fiction- this place has them all. I visited during the winter and the Christmas vibe made this place even more charming. Please note that this bookstore is a bit hard to reach to, because no public transport goes here and the best option is to go by car. It's about 45 minutes from Philadelphia.

I'm a writer, so of course, I had to stop for our YouTube channel, Dark Nest Travels. What did I find? I found a hardcover, first edition Thinner, by Richard Bachman, with a dust jacket. Great deals and great service here. There are four floors to discover the book or books of your dreams. I highly recommend this place!

We've been visiting Baldwin's for 40+ years. Yes, it's been there that long! It's an amazing place. It's definitely one of the best used book stores in the entire country. We hope the owners are able to keep Baldwin's Book Barn running for many more years so future generations can enjoy!

This store made me fall in love with books as a child. I started coming here when we'd visit my grandparents in West Chester back in the 90's and it's still a place I hold dear to my heart.Update: I finally got to bring my own children here 11/2022! The lady there was so wonderful and accommodating and memories were made!

Off the beaten path in a literal barn, this place is a gold mine for history lovers, especially military history. Huge selection of books on 3 floors. Stairs are a little narrow but worth the climb. Large selection of children's books and classics. Also has rows of multi volume sets of great books, military and more.

A rustic barn overflowing with four floors of books - sorted by subject. Be prepared to spend a good amount of time browsing through the stacks! If you love the smell and feel of books, this place is paradise. As this used book store is inside a barn, I do not think it would be a good choice for someone who needs accessibility accommodations or someone with small children (although they have a large selection of picture books and classic children’s literature)

Found this on a whim and definitely will be back! It is a super cute place to purchase used books or donate your books. There’s quite a selection that you’ll be in there for a couple of hours exploring!

Fabulous experience and a wide, wide range of books in a beautiful setting and barn. Oh, and it has ghosts, too. I experienced one paranormal moment myself! No joke.

We were so excited to go here!!!!That was ruined within 2 minutes. My wife is kind and caring. So, when she saw a cellphone sitting on a stack of books, she kindly took it to the "lady" working there. She practically screamed at her that it was her coworkers phone and he uses that stack of books as a desk. I was raised to respect my elders, so I won't say what I was thinking. However, this "lady" has NO reason to be anywhere near customers. It upset my wife so bad we just walked out. I walked back in to try and fix it...get an apology...find out why the horrible outburst. I got a shoulder shrug from the man with a meager sorry and no eye contact while he shoved more crackers in his mouth. I now understand why they have bags and bags of books everywhere....won't be back!

What a joyful experience of a bookstore that is obviously very particularly curated. It is designed for discovery and that is what happened for me on my first trip. I’ll be back.

If you’re a fan of used books, you absolutely need to check this place out. There’s a great selection of books organized into categories throughout the barn. Plan to spend some time here. The barn is big, with multiple rooms and levels. It’s easy to get lost in the aisles of books, but the barn has so much character you won’t mind.
