Very accommodating. Our large group was welcomed and excellently served. Two vegetarians were given an excellent serving of grilled veggies ( broccoli, brussel sprouts and asparagus) and hummus with avocado and brown rice. Several meals in pictures below. All dinners were delicious!

I adore this restaurant! Great food! Sometimes when they are busy you wait for your food buuuut you hardly notice because there is live music and your drink barely sits empty if all all! You MUST try the crab dip and French Creek Tea...they truly are one of a kind!!!

Great!! Friendly staff. Food was delicious. Blueberry pancakes the size of frisbees. Nice to see a table from my grandparents house being put to good use. Place was very clean.

Very nice to see this historical building remodeled and in use. We recently went for dinner. Food was good and the service was very pleasant. The band was also a nice touch. Would like to come back try breakfast.

We enjoy eating here in this quaint old store. The food was very good and served quickly. The staff was friendly and the prices were reasonable. Don't pass this one up.

Good food, good (and cheaply priced) coffee, friendly wait staff. Breakfast menu was pretty decent, but I didn't see much on the dinner side other than sandwiches. Maybe I didn't look hard enough. It doesn't matter though because I'm definitely going back.

This is a hidden little gem! Looks like a general store but serves 5🌟 quality food. Just give it a try and you'll keep coming back too! The amazing music while we eat makes it a spot that you will not regret making the drive. Wonderful staff as well!

Amazing what they have done with this place!! Saved history. I visited when they first opened and just recently. Good food and portions. Really enjoyed the live music on Saturday night. Can't wait to visit out back in nice weather! Stop by and support this place. The servers were great!

So charming. Had a great breakfast of Chicken and Waffles. The chicken was country/corn meal battered, a little different from the usual style of fried chicken- I really enjoyed the maple-y gravy too! What a cool little hub for it's community. Looking forward to coming back for their outdoor patio.

Stopped here for breakfast on a trip to Niagara Falls and found it to be quite a gem! Loved the food and the service was great!

I will go with 4 out of 5 stars, even thought I think my wife and I went on an "off-night" for the staff. We went for the Valentines dinner, 2/15/19 at 7:00. Food was good, not quite what I was expecting, but good. From the other reviews we read I was expecting a little better. Staff seemed overwhelmed and understaffed, but they were immensely busy.We expected a bit more private and quiet setting. It appears there is a bar crowd that frequents the establishment, which is probably great for business. However, if you were near the bar it was a bit hectic and loud, and some people were just standing right in the middle of the room ?My wife and I are local, and I would certainly give it another try. Music was great, food was OK, staff seemed nice enough. I can't see any reason to complain being it was the first time there. We have learned with newer businesses it takes a few trips there to really tell how it will be long term. We enjoy supporting local restaurants, and we are certainly glad another nice place to eat has come to the local community !

We had my Dad's after funeral feed here today. I guess that they are usually closed on Monday. Today they opened their establishment and fed my family well. They were very nice. The food was good, homestyle, and everything was clean. It's an easy atmosphere to feel comfortable in. I would recommend this place to anyone that wants a place to eat, drink, and be happy with friends and family. It was very nice of them to work on their normal day off. Today was a hard day for my family. The folks at Venango General Store made it easier. I really appreciate that.

My family and I went here for lunch today and it was so fantastic that we made reservations for dinner next Saturday night! The owners are so kind and welcoming, the food is delicious (big portions too!), and the overall atmosphere is just so relaxing and fun! We will definitely be frequenting this spot and would highly recommend it!

The store has a disjointed feel when entering; not sure what to do if you want food; do they even have menus, or does one order off a board? Is it sit down service? Will anyone even know we came in? However, once I got past all that I did enjoy the food and the nostalgic atmosphere. I will definitely try them when there is live music.

Great eclectic/vintage atmosphere! Staff is already friendly and efficient. Menu options wonderful with variety, including adult beverage selection. Weekend entertainment is always an extra welcome addition to an evening out.

Crab legs were delicious! The corn and potato chowder was even better. Sirloin cooked just as ordered. The service was excellent. This was a wonderful Valentines dinner.

My wife and I stopped for the first time to check it out. Friendly people , good story told by the owner and some good conversation particularly with our server. Liked her. Nice atmosphere reminiscent of the old country store/restaurant. I ordered the fish and chips and she ordered the shrimp pasta Alfredo I believe it was called. That's when things went south. My fish was a typical food service fillet deep fried entirely too long and she claimed the Alfredo was flour like and very tasteless. The food really was pretty much a disappointment especially when we considered the lovely time we were having. We are guilty of covering it up and not commenting. Kinda cowardly I suppose. But maybe it will help the place if they in fact read this post. The whole experience would be quite nice (they have special event meals like Easter, Cinco De Mayo etc. and music on some evenings) if they would improve on the quality of the meals. And for such meals the price was no real bargain. It should have been much better.

By far one of the nicest friendliest happiest places I've ever gone to eat. I discovered Venango General Store via a message on Facebook and decided to stop there one day. I am so glad I did. I was alone my first visit and was greeted like family, throughout my meal I had somebody to talk with if I wanted and always a fresh cup of coffee in front of me. The store itself is small and quaint and the restaurant side of it is the same. Enough seating for a small group and awesome food. The wage for the food was a little longer than a fast food restaurant, but to be expected this is home cooked food like you expect. Every meal looks like Mom made it. I've stopped here many many times now since I first discovered this place and will continue to do so as long as I live close enough to drive or ride to.

We stopped for dinner last night. Dinner and service was good except for one thing. Two waitresses were not wearing masks when they came to our table, and got way to close within inches of me asking how our meal was. Also, patrons were coming and going without mask. I did not feel safe. Maybe people dont care but I do and want to let others know.

The food was great, and reasonably priced. The staff was friendly. They have a great beer selection (though a few more options on draft would be cool). But most of all, the building is cool as hell!

I was very disappointed in their lack of service, compitency, and general professionalism. We ate outside since the restaurant was closed, and were asked to find any seat, the servers will find us. Well, that definitely didn't happen. I asked the staff twice to come over to our table, but they consistently forgot. Luckily, we had a few drinks to hold us over, the bar was self service. I physically had to walk a server over to our table before we even had food service.Once our server, Rachel, stumbled through the menu and attempted to write down our order, she was unaware of what sides came with items, or even what was on the menu. We ordered two dungeness crab, ahi tuna salad, and bbq, a fairly expensive order.Rachel didn't come back again, I think she got lost. Our food was delivered by another server, but we didn't have any silverware, napkins, or condiments. I, again, tracked down a manager to please provide us with basic utensils and napkins. The manager abliged and helped us out with silverware, but no napkins. I asked again and finally we received about 10 napkins for four people.The food was ok, it wasn't worth the money we spent ($150 for 4 people). The crab was small, we didn't have crab crackers, so we were forced to use rocks we found by the creek to smash the crab shells. I asked, again, for wet naps for my bbq chicken, which after four attempts, I finally received.I did talk to someone on my way out and voiced my disappointment in the service, which that manager was apologetic. Unfortunately, it was too little too late.My advice, go somewhere else. Save the trip, it's not worth it.

A nice bistro in the town of Venango. They serve a wide selection of meals, from their Carmel waffles to a variety of wraps. Take a break in the relaxing atmosphere of the restored building on Main Street. Service was polite and friendly with a side of small town charm. Would repeat the visit again next time I'm in the area.

Nice place to stop, look around & eat. We went to their Seafood fest. There was so much food - 2 people prbly could share. We are definitely going back. Stop in, have a look, stay for dinner. Won't be disappointed

Nice ambience good service but Crab Seafood Fest contained no STONE Crab Claws like advertised. Our Blue Crab was small to medium and extremely light void of substance. Some of the shrimps were melee. Some Creedence needs to be given to a northeast PA Pub attempting an Maryland crab boil. I will give this restaurant another chance but we'll be sticking to their menu items. It looked interesting

Cute old general store revived to some of its former glory. Great place to stop and have a good meal if you are not in a hurry. They also offer a selection of candy, locally made canned goods, and ice cream.

Our first experience there was well below par.. too add my girlfriend had the "special" lasagna and from what she said it was comparable too that of a box. I was going too get the Ruben from what i saw on the menu online and when i got there the menu was different and quite small. So i opted for the fish and chips and when i got my meal i was truly in awe when i saw shaped fish sticks from the freezer that were quite chewy and too add with that the fries were layered on the plate and baked ina pile which led too half cooked soggy fries. We also got the crab dip and it was pretty much a strong onion dip not what we expected. And too walk out with a bill of 50 dollars with a tip i was not pleased.. something needs fixed here.
