Can’t say enough wonderful things about FFOA! We have adopted 2 dogs from them and couldn’t be more pleased with our beloved pets and the great care and service we received through the whole adoption process. These kind and loving souls give so much love and time and attention to all the animals that come into their shelter. The volunteers are friendly and knowledgeable and the facility is clean and neat both inside and out. Also impressed with the follow ups they do after the adoption to make sure you and your pet are adjusting and doing well and to make sure you’ve taken your new pet to a vet to continue the necessary care they need. Would give 20 stars if I could! We love FFOA, will adopt from them again when we are ready and I recommend them to anyone and everyone looking to open their homes to a fur baby!

Recently, I stopped by this is amazing shelter to donate cat litter, for a litter drive event! They gave out thank you cards with a photo of one of their adorable cats. It was too precious! I loved it!They take great care of all their fur babies! The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. We adopted our precious Natasha (lab/rottweiler mix) from them back in 2001. She crossed the Rainbow Bridge, with us by her side, in 2014 at about 15-16 years old (a long life for a large dog). Fayette Friends of Animals gave us 13 absolutely incredible years of life, love, and memories with the best and sweetest doggo ever!!! We are eternally grateful!!!There's something special about shelter pets and especially no kill shelters. They do great work and save so many lives! I encourage everyone, please... donate, adopt, give a shelter pet a fur-ever home, and help them continue the wonderful work they do!

We adopted our dog, Olive, here exactly 3 years ago to the day. My husband and I had an amazing experience here. The staff was very friendly. They actually care about the animals and about who is adopting them. There is a very thorough application process, but a fair price for the adoption for everything you get. I also recently had a stray cat that we adopted get neutered here. It was very inexpensive and they took great care of our little Smudgie Kitty! Thanks for being such a great shelter!!

Literally the worst experience I’ve ever had trying to adopt an animal. I filled out the application and their website says you’ll hear back within 3 business days. This was not the case, it’s been a week and they still haven’t had the decency to call or email and let me know they’ve adopted the dog to someone else. I called nearly every day to follow up on my application, to which they only answered the phone once and told me to “call back tomorrow”. In addition to this, their descriptions for their pets are extremely vague… “beautiful female puppy” doesn’t provide any information on the temperament or health of the dog. Overall 0/10 - do not recommend.

I visited with the cats 3 times and 3 weeks in a row and turned in an application to adopt . . Then I waited 3 more weeks to hear if we were accepted to adopt.... I Never got a call back and when we called in to find out what the hold up was...... They tell us they don't have our application and it wasn't there.....???? How is that even possible?? I was there literally 3 weeks in a row and turned the application in myself... how is it possible to lose an application ?? I even chose the 2 cats I was interested in..(like the conditions they set), and would have adopted both.and i watched her right the cats names down . . I will not be returning a 4th time.. I recommend going elsewhere... there not responsible enough to handle an application then I'll go elsewhere.... wasted 2 month waiting on them total and ended up with nothing but stress... I hope they like the 2 giant bags of food I donated.... I will not be doing that again either... Sorry I will admit I am upset right now and my opinion may change. However my disappointment will not!

What a great bunch of people. Especially John G. and Chris L. They are kind and full of info. I could tell they actually care for the animals wellbeing. The building inside and out is spotless. Their website and social media game are strong as well.

I have participated in several calendar parties to raise funds for FFOA over the years! In March this year we adopted a cat after the loss of our cat. Mollie said their is a perfect cat for us, I wasn't so sure, but we met King Kong, he is the biggest, sweetest baby you could ever meet!! It took him all of a few hours to fit right in and be loved by us and his chorkie fur brother! Thank you Mollie!!

We got our dog Lucky 11 years ago and we got our cat Pumpkin 5 years ago from this shelter! These two are some of the most loving animals a person could ever meet!

We adopted our pup from FFOA in April of 2023. The meet-and-greet with the new pup and our senior dogs was our favorite part, because it was carefully monitored by several FFOA staff. They truly care for the animals!

As far as this person Jon doe goes they ask questions because they wanna make sure the animals are well taken care of and going to a responsible home. Obviously if you can not understand that then you should not have a pet at home. Because there is certainly people who want puppies then after the new (honeymoon stage) wears off they don’t treat them with love they absolutely deserve. So if you can’t agree with that I’m glad you didn’t get one.Rant over😅My heart breaks every time I see animals here. Because I got my two from shelters 8 years and two years ago and I look into their eyes and it makes me sad I just hurt for them because when they look at you they need a forever home they deserve a forever home if I could handle more than two I would but I have two dogs and two catsIf I ever win the lottery I will buy a huge farm with lots of acres and hire a bunch of people to help take care of them and love them

Me and my wife wanted a new dog (we have 1) and she wanted to buy a puppy, but I said let's try to adopt a dog that needs a home. This place seemed ok at first glance but the management staff was very unfriendly and judged us like we are not worthy to adopt. It's strange, it felt like they don't want to adopt out dogs. They ask lots of personal questions and even want to come see or house. The forms are long and are legal releases saying the dog may not be healthy and it's our responsibility to treat all illnesses the have. It felt like they don't want to spend money on care, most dogs were skinny. With all that we still wanted a dog, but we didn't get a call. I'm guessing deemed unfit, but if we are considered unfit I feel anyone could be. Poor dogs, I wish they had homes but most likely they will be moved shelter to shelter until put down 💀.Very sour experience, we did however just go buy a new puppy in cash without questions online who is wonderful. I'd recommend to just buy a puppy and avoid all this nonsense because adoption is overly difficult and judgmental and you deserve better.Good luck finding your new friend(100% accurate review by someone who reviews very sparingly)

Still waiting for a return call for help. How does this place even take any type of funding when it don't even help people when in need. Disgraceful !!!

The shelter is sticked with so many sweet cats and dogs. The staff care so much about the animals. They do a great job with such a small budget, being a nonprofit in a low income community. I love being with the animals!

Any place that is trying to help lost animals has to have their heart in the right place, or at least right place adjacent. This place is without a doubt the latter. Of the <25 dogs my fiancée and I saw there, more than half of them were outside in the winter, of a mix of breeds, a large portion of which were definitely not meant to be outside in that kind of weather. My second issue with them is the way they handle dogs with behavioral issues, because the way they are listed online completely downplays them, so you don't know going in, but even if you'd be willing to take the responsibility of the animal and try and help it, they will NOT let you meet with that animal, not even with a fence between you. I don't know how they expect animals like that to ever get adopted when they won't even let you meet them. While we were there a woman came in offering to help train some of the behaviorally challenge animals, and though we did not stay to hear the whole conversation, it seemed as though they wrre going to reject her offer. Not only that, the staff member who we met basically didn't know anything about any of the animals, which is understandable for maybe a few, because it is a lot to keep track of, but having basic information on the outside of the dogs living space, or within easy reach, is a must in my opinion.I think what they are trying to do here is good, but the place needs to restructure, and organize better, as well as being more open with the people trying to adopt these animals.

I do appreciate any organization who helps animals but didn't have a good experience here. You're put on a list for an animal and then you wait. If you are not picked you never get a call or anything. We loved this one little pup but because there was no recent vet visit on record we were rejected. The reason for the lack of vet info was because our previous pet passed away many years ago. The lady there treated us like we were animal Nazis while being the exact opposite. It's tough deciding to get another animal when the loss of one is still on the heart. We ended up getting a sweetheart of a dog from another organization. I'm glad we were rejected because our dog has been such a great addition to our family. It's sad because many of the animals won't get a home because of the fickle process here.

We arrived almost at closing time, but were treated graciously ,shown all the dogs and even encouraged to complete an application. We were approved the next day, we returned a few days later a little hesitant about a stand offish dog that had been returned to the shelter twice (no fault of his). We were permitted lots of time to make our decision. We adopted Dodger (now Murphy) and he is still a bit timid at times, but he is a terrific dog and a great addition to the familyThank You Fayette Friends of Animals

The staff and volunteers at this place are some of the most dedicated and loving people I have ever met. This shelter is clean and the animals are healthy. Unlike other shelters you won't be adopting an animal with kennel cough or an upper respiratory illness. They don't allow irresponsible or unqualified owners to take an animal. Some of these dogs and cats have already been through hell in their lives--- why would they approve an owner that wouldn't keep it for life? Great place, great people, great pets.

I had called on Monday Nov 9th to look at a dog here. The manager scheduled for me to come there on Saturday at 1:30 to meet the dog. Well the dog has been adopted for FOUR days and they didn't even have the decency to call and let me know. I am glad I took the initiative to call on Friday 13th just to double check! I live over an hour from there. The manager was very very very unprofessional as well, she was snippy and rude!!! If that manager is willing to treat another human being the way she treated me, I can't imagine the abuse she's doing to those poor animals. It honestly is ashame and very sad people like that are allowed to run a business (especially around animals.) I would NOT deal with that place at all!

Place was clean. You have to wipe your feet in a tray before you go in. I thought that odd.We went with our 14 yr old son, and 21 mo old daughter. They showed us 3-5 puppies, all of which were fantastic. We spent about an hour and a half there. Then my wife found a puppy she just adored, so we applied. Now, maybe it's just me but...why would you show somwone a handful of puppies, let someone fall in love with a puppy, subject them to an adoption application that's 3 pages long and really invasive....and then turn the same application down because "you have small children"? Especially considering that our "small child" was there with us the entire time?We were told when we "applied" that we "would hear something within 3 business days".Needless to say, we heard nothing, and only discovered we were denied after several calls to find out the status of the application. As I said, our daughter was there the whole time, why not simply say they don't adopt to families with small children?I guess if you're looking for a place that treats animals better than people, this is the place for you.As for me...sorry, you just don't treat people like we were treated.

This shelter and the people who work there are amazing! My husband and I found our third member of our family Rollo (formerly Augustus), and he is the best puppy. He is such a happy and healthy puppy, and we are so thankful for FFOA. The adoption process was smooth and we couldn’t be happier with our little guy. Thank you to everyone who works there and for saving these precious animals.

I adopted a dog from this shelter about 2 years ago and am now looking to adopt another. The shelter was clean, staff was friendly and clearly care for the animals. The application is extensive, but all relevant and if you have a history of good pet care with your vet there should be no problems...they are looking to place these animals in responsible, loving, forever homes.

This is a wonderful and beautiful place for animals and if you’re going to support one I would support this one.I had a dog named Shebah who I miss deeply that I had gotten but had to return due to health issues. I miss her so much but they let me know she is in s great home with a buddy to play with so I feel so much better. These people are great. This shelter is great. You can trust it. Thank you. Florence
