(edit 1/26/24: for $3 this morning I got a large vanilla chai latte and it was awesome.)If you have eaten at numerous places in the area, you have seen it can often be hit-or-miss. Cable's is on another level- some of the absolute best food in the area, especially for the cost.During my previous visit I enjoyed the Hot Wing Sub and it was just as good as (if not better than) Steve and Irene's.Shredded grilled chicken with a really tasty (and pretty hot) buffalo sauce dressed up with zesty blue cheese crumbles all on a hard sub roll.I sincerely can't wait to have it again- that is what is compelling me to write this review at nearly 11pm.Friendly service, terrific food well worth every penny, and always some delicious, fresh baked goods -and now pizza!Don't sleep on this hidden gem!!

Wife and I stopped and had the Everyday Joe sandwich as we sat outside with our 2 dogs. This sandwich has to be one of the BEST sandwiches I have ever had. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND it. There are so many different sandwiches to try. Heard the Lobster Roll is very good also!

Best cheesesteak sandwich i've had in a very long time. friends and i stumbled upon this while in the area. Fresh baked goods and a larger than expected menu. didn't have the time to return for another try but will be on the list next time in the area.

We stopped in today for some lunch and coffee. I ordered a turkey and coleslaw special on sourdough- warm and crispy with tender turkey and slightly sweet dressing, so tasty! My boyfriend said the breakfast wrap he ordered was one of the best he'd ever had. The coffee was very good too. We finished up with a freshly baked cookie. Both proprietor and the bridge club ladies were warm and welcoming to us travelers. Outside, this beautiful view!

Stopped in today to get some tickets for a local fire department raffle. The young lady behind the counter was very helpful. Great conversation! I'd like to thank them for supporting their local fire department in being able to pick tickets up from them. All. The food that I saw look great. Unfortunately I did not eat anything. Next time I stop and it will definitely give them a try

I don't have enough great things to say about this place. The selection they have is incredible between the baked goods, local craft/wellness products, and food. Mac and cheese is one of the best I've ever had. The little expanded cafe seating has really taken this place over the top. The atmosphere is so cozy and everything you could want in a local deli.

Had a great lunch there today. I had a yogurt with oats and they added pineapple, a great steak and cheese and a peanut butter cookie. My wife had a veggie wrap. We enjoyed it all. The owner and the people working there were really nice. And they were really good at teasing me when I was joking with them. Thanks for a great time.

Awesome mom and pop style spot. Great food and laid back atmosphere. You can eat inside or outside by the creek and patio area. As a local I love going here

Stopped here while biking the D&H rail trail. Lunch special was a tuna salad wrap and the place was busy even though it was 2 PM. We just had a large caramel apple oatmeal cookie. It was very good. Nice selection of fresh baked goods, made to order sandwiches and pleasant staff. Stop by and check them out.

What an awesome place. They have a bit of everything! And besides the great food, these fine ladies that run this place, are just so welcoming, and talk to ya like they’ve known ya for years. Will definitely be visiting again soon for one of those Cheeseburgers hand pies, they looked delicious!

Absolutely can not express how grateful I am to have this business still thriving in this tiny area. The food is homemade and delicious. The people are always friendly so kind. Prices are fair. This place hold fond memories for so many. I remember as a young girl collecting my little brown baggy of penny candy. ACTUALLY for a penny. Lol. Although it's went through many changes over the years they same vibe remains. Humble little store with amazing people to help you. ***** *****. I must add the newer outside additions have only enhanced this quaint beautiful shop. Some family games, tables, fire pit, outdoor heaters in the winter, longe chairs, next to the waterfalls.... Just check it out if you're in the area and take a little stroll for yourself you won't regret it.

We are booking Cables General Store for our wedding catering and are so excited! I am confident we are in good hands with Krysta and her team. We visited the store to try the food and the staff took really good care of us and all the food we tried was delicious! We had a 2.5 hours drive and the first thing my fiance said to me when we left was "it was worth the drive!" I highly recommend them for a meal and catering. We cant to have their food again on our big day!editing to add: Cables General Store truly went above and beyond. Our guests were obsessed with the cheese display (the put it in letter trays to spell out our last name which we requested) and it looked amazing. They went above and beyond to help out when I got stuck in the kitchen because guests were in the venue early and they got me a chair, offered me food, and got me water. Everyone LOVED the food from cocktail hour to dinner and everything time I talk to a guest they mention how usually wedding dinner food is just ok but our BBQ was so flavorful and the best wedding food they had. Several guests got seconds. They made my husband and I plates so we didnt have to go through the buffet and I may be the only bride I know tha ate during their wedding day because the food was that good, lol! Hiring them was such a good decision and were so grateful for all they did!!!

Outstanding food and service. Definitely our “go-to” place for lunch and dinner in NEPA, although I still need to stop in for breakfast. Highly recommend their specials on the weekends, but order at least a day in advance since they sell-out quick! There’s a great selection of fun candy for the kids that you’d expect from a general store. Also, there is great outdoor seating and plenty of parking out back if you want to walk down to the creek or take a stroll / bike ride on the trails nearby.

What a fun place - cool stuff to eat and drink - on premises or for takeout. If you're a local you probably know it already. If you're visiting, and/or if you're heading out on the wonderful bike trail (right behind the store) - by all means get your food here and use the parking lot and porta.

Just updated to 5 stars based off dinner we had last night - apricot glazed chicken with cheesy mashed potatoes and asparagus with mustard sauce - incredible take-out dinner. Steak burrito and quiche are always really good. Have a lot of different specials during the week. Wonderful baked goods - great banana bread and had some delicious cookies at Christmas.

It's a great place to stopand rest from Forest City off the H& D Trail. Not much choice for drinks but they do prepare hoagies and hot meals. There's a small area to rest and eat.

The best spot near Elk for solid eats. When stone bridge closed, we were worried and while cables isn’t a restaurant/bar, the food quality and options are excellent. It’s a small general store, but Krista whips up some awesome specials and soups. Breakfast sandwiches and pizzas are solid too.

Reasonably priced and excellent food. We really enjoyed the Ahi Tuna on greens and vegetables! I also picked up Pumpkin Curry soup, delicious as well!
