Outback adventures is a decent place. Plenty of canoes available. Would like to see more trip availability. Better marking on the river landing would be nice. The area is kind of unkempt and could be better straightened up.

It doesn't get any better than this. We have been canoeing and kayaking with Outback for 14 years now. Mary and Mike are always welcoming and accommodating. We go several times each summer.

Took us to a very scenic stretch of creek. Weren't allowed on river because it was considered unsafe. Got a few extra miles attached to trip as well

They load you up. Drive up the river. Help you into your kayak or canoe. Push you into the water and your all set. What more do you need or want!!!! #BEAUTIFUL#PERFECTSCENERY#JUSTCHILL

I called ahead to ask questions and to let them know to expect us the following day. We arrived a half hour before our departure time. The kayaks were great, the other equipment needed was totally fine. We departed ontime!!! Will be using them again!!

The BEST place to rent canoes and kayaks, decent prices, offer drop-off if ya own your own and I love the staff. Highly recommend the 15 mile trip. Been coming here for over 10 years 💖

Great Value for the price! Had so much fun even though the weather didn't cooperate. A totallyhands off approach.... which enhanced the experience for us because we felt free to just have fun!

Great experience! Took my nephews for the short trip from West Hickory to Tionesta. I try and get them outta the city every once in awhile. It's good for them. Booked online. Canoes are big enough to pack anything you'll need and then some, unlike some other places. Check in was quick and easy. Drove us up to the launch point and off we went! Was a great day! Saw some eagles, a momma deer and her babies. Easy float. Little excitement in the small rapids towards the end. My only complaint whatsoever really, was I think a big sign at the end where we get out would be helpful to some that may not know the area. Had there not been other canoes lined up down there, we could've easily missed the stop had I not known it was shortly after the bridge. All in all, great time. Nephews had a blast and we will definitely return. In fact, my wife, 4 year old and myself will probably book in August when we do our trip to Cook Forest.

I forgot my paddles while in the area using my own kayaks. I tried to rent or buy their old paddles and they refused to accept money. They just let me borrow. Next time I do rental equipment for a river float I will definitely go here.

I've been coming here for years. Really the only gripe is parking can be packed and I wish you could drive down to where you shore up with your canoe or kayak; it's a heck of a long walk up that hill with all your gear. Other than that, good, friendly, consistent service.

I go here all the time. I've only used their canoe once but had no complaints and had a fun day. The other 20 plus times, I brought my own kayak and had a great time. The water isn't really deep so it heats up quicker during the summer. Also makes it safe for young children. Lots of islands to stop on for a break or to camp if you paid for that. The water is clean and fun to swim in. No complaints with staff. If you bring your own kayak or canoe, they only charge you half price of your trip. Out of all the places in the tri state area. For a leisure kayaking trip, this one is the best.

We've taken a 3 day trip the last two years and we've had a blast. The kayaks they rent out are really spacious so it makes the trip even better to have a few extra comfort items.

Mike and Maryanne were awesome from start to finish. I spent 30 minutes on the phone with Maryanne the day before our trip during which time she conveyed a deep knowledge of Allegheny River conditions and an alternative to our desired plan. It was one of the most helpful and honest calls I've experienced. Per their advice we decided to float Tionesta Creek, and it did not disappoint! (note: water level should be at least 2.5 ft!). They met us at Nebraska Bridge and shuttled the four of us, our gear (two night trip) and our two canoes to Sheffield, peppering the conversation with valuable and fun info along the way. We're definitely going to be return customers when we final get out on the Allegheny.

Outback has a great group of people who are willing to go the extra mile! Our driver had a great personality and some really great jokes. We took our time and did 15 miles in around 6 hours. Our minpin came along with us, and he had a blast checking out the wildlife on and off the islands. We saw lots of Bald Eagles, one that got so close we could have touched. All in all a great adventure!

The place seemed nice and the service was good. I was there on a weekday and 1 of 3 people going up river. They have a lot of nice canoes and they gave me a nice kayak. At the end of the float, there is a foot wash and a cute hamburger, hot dog, and ice cream stand. I forget the price but I did check and it seemed comparable to others in the area. They also sell role playing hobby like supplies here

Very disorganized from start to finish and way over priced. Paying was a mess, no body knew were to go. And waiting to get picked up took way to long. 5-6 hours in the sun the last thing you want to do is wait around to get picked up . River is beautiful to canoe , we stayed at Hearts Content Campground and that was very nice.

Worst experience of my life. My family has been coming here for over 10 years. The owner was rude and rushed us out due to a road closure yet she gave us out start time. Life jackets that didn't fit and her response was are you really gonna wear it. One canoe had a broken seat we didn't discover till they dropped us off and pulled out , no seat backs, and one canoe actually had a hole was patched and patch came off 20 minutes after we got in the water. Would recommend going anywhere other than here.

Just wanted to start off with Sid the boxer stole everyone's hearts. What a well-behaved precious puppers. I also wanted to mention that the drivers were very helpful. They helped us pack our kayaks and also helped us with our gear. Outback Adventures is a great way to have a affordable backpacking vacation-adventure. Saw a lot of Wildlife. The most bald eagles I've ever seen. America everywhere you look. Definitely coming back.

Totally unprofessional outfit!! Driver of 10 passenger van pulling kayaks did not wear face mask (during COVID19 pandemic) and was texting 20-30 minutes while driving. He did not check condition of the kayaks after tossing off trailer and then drove away. As we were preparing to launch, noticed that one kayak had broken seat and missing foot braces. My husband phoned the owner, Maryann to report the defective kayak. She did not answer so he left a voice message, to which she never responded. We returned five hours later and asked Maryann if she had received the voicemail. She said, “Yes, but there was nothing I could do.” Well, she could have at least responded by calling! She became very agitated raising her voice to say, “So what do you want me to do about it? I can give you $20.” This was after we had spent $106.00 to rent one decent and one damaged/defective kayak. We asked her to calm down, but she continued to yelling as we walked away.

I'm giving Outback Adventures 5 stars because the owner is nice and the price is reasonable. However, when I return if they decided to keep the employee who loaded The Kayaks and drove us down to the river, I will definitely change this to a one-star and highly recommend no one to go. He was very vulgar and foul with his language. Good news is he only works one day out of the week I along with everyone else who complained was told. Outside of that they have always been attentive and professional.

Overbooked! Overpriced! Misleading! Not enough supplies! Rude owner who laughed in our face when we asked for a discount because our family of 11 did not have any seatbacks or proper oars. We had six canoes and no one had a seat back for an overnight 15 mile trip. The Bonnie Brae launch was three feet of mud. They should not being using it. Take out launch is so ridiculous. You pull into another mud pit and have to drag your canoes and walk up a steep hill for at least 150 yards. The hill is made up of broken rock. It's hard to walk by itself and even harder when you are carrying and dragging your entire overnight belongings. You are not allowed to pull up your vehicle to load. We all used mix and match oars some plastic some wood and a few kayak paddles for a canoe. No seat backs, but she did offer some broken ones she found in a dirt pile to use if we scrapped off the bugs and worms off of them. One canoe had a broken seat. Another canoe had a patched hole! This place is a joke. WILL NEVER RETURN!.........all that being said the scenery on the river was amazing.

I used to love this place. The music upon arrival was “nasty”. Raucous loud music continued for our ride to the drop off w the driver texting while he drove . He dropped us off at the wrong drop off point. What was a 3 hr paddle became a 5-6. Afraid we won’t be back

Do not show up without a reservation. They acted like we were nuts asking to rent a kayak at 10 am in the morning.... Drive to Cooks Forest where you get friendly service and dont need a reservation.

I just used Outback for a 3 day trip from Kinzua Dam to Tionesta. Camped at Outback in one of their Teepees Tuesday night (already set up when I arrived) then put in on Wednesday morning, out on Friday. Mary-Anne, Steve, and the third lady I interacted with were all very kind and professional. I rented a canoe/paddles and PFD, was very happy with the quality of equipment. I had an incredible trip and I highly recommend this company to all of my family and friends.

kinzua to tionesta trip. Owner took me and the GF up to kinzua from their livery at tionesta, on a Sunday at 9am. We have our own kayaks, so just needed a shuttle. Knocked a few few bucks off the 2 canoe minimum. I was very pleased. Bmw was safely parked all weekend in a shaded lot. I will use them again in the future and I definitely recommend them. They had nice newer old town discovery canoes that I saw.
