I have stayed at this motel for many years when in the area on business. Used to be a good value on a decent motel. Unfortunantly it isn't what it once was. Cleanliness and customer service specifically. Except Mary Ann, who is the best customer service person anywhere. It's the new people that don't seem to care and can't speak English very well. Sorry, can't recommend.

The pictures on the hotels web site and the rooms are so totally different unless they were taken in a different part of the hotel area that we stayed in. Let me start out with the beds were comfortable, even if the headboards were falling apart. The rooms were dirty, as in needed to be painted and/or dusted/scrubbed better and a paint job wouldn't hurt the place inside and out! The outside was LITERALLY falling apart with big chunks of concrete missing from the upper walkway on underside of building and bricks falling off on edging area around windows on ground floor. The selection for breakfast was so limited. Cream cheese but no bagels (altho when tour bus came in, they brought out a little fridge with limited yogurt and had a limited number of bagels to eat, I only saw three, and I was there when they opened), old apples (no other fruit ever), one type of jelly (grape), same blueberry muffins every single day we were there (a week stay), same bread, a few slices left out, same eggs (had absolutely no taste, maybe made with water to make them last longer?), potatoes and sausage, same cereal (frosted flakes and cheerios). The coffee was weak and the tea barely made a strong cup (it was off-brand). The paper plates were the very cheapest you could purchase, they don't hold anything without falling apart and the plastic silverware could not cut the waffles. We actually went to Walmart and purchased our own cereal and bread and just used their toaster and milk. They must not wipe off tables either until end of breakfast time, they were sticky and dirty, but next day they were fine. The staff tho was super friendly! Very nice and helpful. This hotel definitely needed an upgrade, again the pics shown on the website are nothing I saw in the whole place! It was nice to have a microwave the fridge in the room tho! The plugs were so loose they fell out if plugging in phone, the usb ports did work tho. They did have a gym on property, small but very well equipped with one piece of equipment each. They did not have a washer/dryer on premises, but there was one down the street. The one item I thought was very odd and have never seen before was a post on the hotel window that stated "This hotel does not rent rooms to local residents."

And above all every single staff went above and beyond for us all and I tell u we were a busy bunch. Maryann was absolutely amazing. We will all definitely be back I will continue leaving a 5 star 🌟 🤩Rooms: Immaculate

Dirty, dated, gross room!!!! I've never stayed in a place so disgusting before. This is clearly a low end motel, but that doesn't mean it should be disgustingly dirty! We actually asked for a refund and left because the room smelled so musty and gross. The carpets were dirty with visible dirt on the floor. The doors had fingerprint marks and scratches, and there was black mold in the shower. The fridge also had brown filth in the freezer. I wouldn't put my food in there. We asked to switch rooms and the new room was not any better. The only thing that appeared neat and tidy was the outside of the building and the bed, but I didn't roll down the sheets and inspect. . The location is good but you couldn't pay me to stay here! Front desk was kind and understanding, but nothing that they could do could fix this mess. They are clearly understaffed as they said they would not be cleaning and making up the room between night 1 and night 2. I wish I took photos, but we were so grossed out we just ran out! We literally ran out of here to stay somewhere else that was cleanRooms: Very dirty and dated room! I would not stay here l, even if it was free!

We appreciated being able to book three rooms for our family after other reservations fell through at the last minute. The lady at the Clarion was very helpful, kind, and supportive. The breakfast was awesome! Our little grandsons loved the waffle bar! Thank you for helping us and making our stay in Strasburg so much fun! We were able to enjoy Sight and Sound, the Train Museum and dinner with Mrs. Claus!

This place has gone downhill big time. It’s a shame because my family has been staying here for many years, my husband has been going since he was a kid. Once Clarion took over it went downhill. The current manager is a disgrace. He’s rude, downright nasty, extremely unprofessional. And I’m pretty sure he was drunk. The rooms need a major upgrade, but we were even ok with it being outdated. The main issue with the rooms are the cleanliness. They are not properly cleaning the rooms. I go to Lancaster multiple times a year and this place will no longer be where I choose to spend my money. They lost a long time guest. The main reason is because of the current management. It’s amazing to me how this guy still has a job. Choice hotels really needs to reevaluate who they have in charge of this place before they lose more guests. I’m not sure how this place is still operating. With all the negative reviews it seems that most people’s experiences have been the same as my last experience. There are so many other beautiful places the stay in Lancaster, but we still chose to stay at the clarion inn for tradition purposes. With the customer service the way it is we are moving on.

Charming & clean place to stay in Lancaster county. Staff were friendly, polite & helpful. Breakfast had hot sausage, scrambled eggs, potato wedges & waffles. Along with fruit, toast, muffins, yogurt, cereal, coffee & juice. The breakfast was a great help in a high tourist area. I was able to secure the room online at a great price. Being an older inn it was somewhat outdated but a great bargain that more than met our needs. Would definitely go there again.

This year, I was extremely disappointed with the condition of our rooms. The doors – closet and bathroom – looked like they had not been cleaned or even wiped down in ages. I have attached some photos but I do not think they do justice to the filthiness of the doors. I had handi-wipes with me and wiped down the door handles before I would allow any of my family to touch them. The photo of the bathroom floor shows a soft contact lens that was left here for I don’t know how long. Long enough that no one has bothered to try to clean it up off the floor. Also, dirty sheets were left on the pull out bed in the suite. Thankfully, I had requested clean sheets to make the bed up myself so that my daughter could sleep there. The actual room itself (#127) had (and probably still does) an empty water or soda bottle behind the nightstand, as well as a plastic container from something. There was an empty can under the TV stand/refrigerator, as well as some cookie (?) pieces and paper towels. The quality of the towels should also be mentioned; I realize these are an expensive and highly used item, but some that we were given were so threadbare we could almost see through them.As much as I have loved this hotel, I am afraid that this will be my last stay unless I find out that conditions have greatly improved. As it was, I spent a lot more money here than I would have at another hotel in the area that would have definitely been cleaner.

As a returning guest of the past years to Lancaster to see shows we have never encountered such a disgusting dirty room. Please save your time and money it was so Filthy- doors, walls , refrigerator door you could see multiple fingerprints paint pealing and wall paper , awful smell in hallway and room. So out dated. Clearly wasn’t at all sanitary. Hair in shower, bugs in the bathroom, the bottom of the tub was black and definitely not cleaned. Asked for another room checked it out and actually was just as bad if not worse . Mold in the shower and the entrance to open room door was so filthy. Requested a full refund and found a hotel 3 miles away Best Western Plus and had a beautiful room clean and great breakfast included. Will definitely go there from now on.

Bad experience with Clarion Inn, Strasburg - Lancaster. I moved too quickly to reserve a good rate at this cheap motel for a business trip.Within an hour of my paying for the room in advance, my business trip was canceled - beyond my control. Clarion management refused to refund ANY of the amount.Certainly, I did agree to their rules regarding non-refund-ability but they could have taken a reasonable cancellation fee.I consider this extremely poor customer service. Thus, I blacklist Clarion in general and Clarion Strasburg - Lancaster in particular.DON'T GO THERE.Noteworthy details: A cheap motel is all it is (with all that implies), and is poorly managed.

We settled on this place because of its claim of pillowtop mattresses. They were pretty good. Room was clean and quiet.Nearby activities: Good for Sight and Sound and visiting areas around Strasberg, southern Lancaster County.

The area is beautiful, peaceful and quiet. The issue with the hotel is the room. It was very dirty and paint coming off the walls. It also had a really weird smell. Under the bed was several mouse glue traps which said a lot for us. The outside and the photos on the website are extremely misleading. The staff is nice and very friendly but they really need to renovate that place. My husband and I literally just chalked up the $179 we paid because we could not stand to be there. Wouldn’t recommend this place

When we arrived our room was disgusting. Hair on the beds, floor not vacuumed well, hair on the bathroom floor, took the comforter off and found blood on the comforter 🤢 they gave me a new room with just an apology no money back offered or anything. Next room still was not great but a little cleaner. All furniture is extremely banged up and fridge was leaking so much they had a towel in the bottom of it catch water. Black mildew all around tub. Carpets in bad condition made you want to wear your shoes the whole time. All around bad experience.

The rooms were moldy and smelled so bad. The floor were absolutely soaked from a leak under the one sink. We ended up having to give up one of our trash cans to the cause of trying to make it better. The corner by the AC had white mold all over the carpet. We had 2 rooms. The 2nd room was just as bad but without the leaking sink, added refrigerator problem. It barely worked.I could talk about how fake the food was, but I did my regular look see and didn't eat it. I brought along my own food. And thankfully 1 out of 2 refrigerators did work. Microwave had food stuck on. So not cleaned when last person left. I cleaned it to use it and left it in better condition than I found it. I bring my own bedding so I won't say too much about the bedding either. But I am not that impressed by that either and the pillows were awful. I travel for work and spend as many nights in a hotel as I do in my own home bed. I don't need perfect. But I do like things to be a bit cleaner. This was first hotel for pleasure and not work in a while. I did not expect with the price that it would be so bad.Now with all that. The location of this is amazing. It is so close to just about everything but just off the beating path so it seems a bit less chaotic. So I guess it is a trade off.

Rooms are worn, but clean. Blistered paint, mismatched furniture, but tidy beds and good bathrooms. Linens were spare, but the TV worked fine. The front desk was friendly and efficient, but clearly understaffed for a busy (booked) holiday weekend. The owner probably should have invested and updated during the pandemic when bookings were lower. The closet doors don't fit, and the windows are missing insect screens (but at least half did and could open slightly). Still, a clean and convenient place to spend a night.By morning, we had experienced toilets requiring multiple flushes, keycards that locked us out the first night, and no hot water for our evening showers. The breakfast was good, with cereals, waffles, yogurt, and food service eggs, sausage, and potatoes. Coffee was hot and smooth.Rooms: Rooms are no-frills with dark carpets that hide stains but also make the room feel dark. Bathroom had 2 vanities, but few towels.

I chose this hotel because of the close proximity to the Strasburg Railroad. (3 mins). We were in building 1300. Had to go up five steps whether you went through the front or side door. No ramps. A bit difficult with luggage. The room was adequate but needed some serious updating. It had poster beds. Mattresses were hard. Lamps and other appliances-microwave and refrigerator were unplugged. The plunger to the first sink was missing, the tub needed some work! The toilet is low- not good for seniors. They had a plugin nitelite for the bathroom that was useful. The breakfast in the sunroom made up for the bedroom. Eggs, delicious sausage, fried potatoes, and the waffle machine were perfect. You could toast your bread, they had muffins, too. I didn't drink any juice or coffee but my family said the orange juice tasted different and the apple juice didn't taste like apple juice. The family said the coffee was good. There was plenty of seating on the enclosed porch.I saw a sign saying they had a dry sauna. I wish we had more time to check that out.I would not return to this hotel. We had previously stayed at the Holiday Inn Express- in walking distance for this hotel. The hotel has a very nice restaurant called the Fireside. We ate there before and the food was excellent. What I liked about this location was the ease of getting to more restaurants, stores, etc. It was easy to find. There's also plenty of parking.I hope they renovate this property. It has a lot to offer.

Everything looked fine and we were satisfied with overall condition of the hotel as we had been in worse hotels and paid more. However when i took off the duvet and put myself on the bed, it was sandy! Clearly the sheet had not been changed. Only when i traveled in India as a student in remote places that something like this ever happened to me and i paid a few dollars for those rooms. Is this what customers get in America? I would have gone to the front desk to complain and ask for a new room if my newborn had not been asleep then.

I’ve been here a couple of times and this is one of the best hotels I’ve ever been too. The amenities were great. Sure, it’s “dated” but it really gives that Amish country charm. Very friendly staff. Very nice lobby. They even offer free water bottles. Both of the on-site restaurants (fireside tavern & pizza place) were really good. The beds were super comfy and the coffee was great. Only complaint is the breakfast. I understand we are living in a time of employee shortages so it can be hard to facilitate. But I think if they added a few more options and opened up the dining room, it would be great. It was so good before COVID so I see the potential. Overall, great hotel. Will definitely be coming back!

this was our second stay there. The first time was OK definitely needs updated but it was clean and the price was right. This time our room was so dirty we should’ve left … tried to ask the maid to clean our bathroom, which was filthy. I thought she understood what I was asking her to do but she never cleaned her bathroom. on a good note, the location is great for sight and sound theater and the coffee is really good there! Oh there was even old chocolate milk spilt in the fridge.

I stayed in the 1300 Building. Ended up leaving a day early due to quite a few reasons. I was arriving late and called the front desk for about 30 minutes to make sure I would still be able to check-in, after driving 9 hours that day, with no response. Upon arriving, no one was at the desk, no note saying when to expect anyone and stood and waited for about 30 minutes for someone to show. Check-in was clutsy and not apology for being unavailable.I go to the 1300 building, the hallways smelled horrible and the beds in my room felt equal to a piece of plywood on a box spring. Most uncomfortable bed in a hotel, ever.Wake up to take a shower and discover left-over soap in the shower from a previous guest, silicon/caulk dripped everywhere around the fixture and lack of proper maintenance all around the bathroom.A little steam cleaning would probably do wonders for the putrid smell.Management responded to the post-stay survey rather nonchalant, as they probably knew of all the issues, but just didn't care.Great way to visit for a wedding weekend 😡

This property is really in disarray overall. It needs new flooring throughout and new painting everywhere. The breakfast host was very aloof. He was on his phone a lot. There was not a feeling of hospitality. The thing that disturbed me the most was the pool gate. It did not latch. A child could inadvertently wander into the pool and fall in if unattended. This is a definite safety concern. I believe this property has great potential if some of these issues are addressed. If not, I see it eventually on the out and out.Rooms: Our room was comfortable. The beds were clean. We loved the fact that our room overlooked the beautiful courtyard. It was very quiet and peaceful on the second floor porch. However the carpet was filthy and stained. The refrigerator was dirty and the office chair caked with dust. Obviously the room needed a deeper cleaning. We also had to report the fact that the toilet seat was very loose.

Rooms are not well cleaned. Our original room smelled like old urine and our replacement room was poorly cleaned. Hair swept into bathroom corners, faulty plumbing, ripped seat cushions, poor door locks, stains everywhere.. all-around unclean. Management content to let the property fall apart while they picnic outside all day. Feels like a third-world excuse for a hotel.

DO NOT STAY HERE!!! Me and my boyfriend went to stay here for the night and didn’t even put our stuff in the room yet just to check it out cause the place looked not updated or clean. Went into the room and it was just what we thought! Very dirty, dead bugs in sheets and in bed, mold in bathroom, ripped up carpets. It smelled so bad we couldn’t be in the room for over 5 minutes. I booked through a third party and they are trying to get me refunded but the hotel has to approve it first so hopefully this helps that and speeds the process up! I will put pictures down below.

We have been using this hotel with a larger group for roughly 10 years. Hotel condition has went down every years with no updates. This year, hair all over our bathroom before we used it, no towels in the suite we had, my kids bedroom air conditioner was squealing so bad we couldnt use it,our main door to room had been kicked in at some point with just drywall compound stuck in it to seal it, the door on bathroom wouldn't shut and stay closed so while using it you had to hold it closed, and, my parents room was full of black mold. They called the front desk and notified them, they said they'd send a cleaning staff...nope, never happened over the 3 night stay. We will not be staying here again until we hear they've made some updates and inprovements.

All other hotels were booked so I figured we’d give Clarion a try. I quickly realized why they had so much vacancy. The room was disgusting and I had to clean it before I let anyone use it. The walls were filthy and there was a musty smell. We were in the 1200 building which was neglected and in urgent need of updates and repair. The remote was broken and the toilet ran all night. The bed was comfortable and the location was quiet, but I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. The room was outdated and dirty. It smelled musty and everything needed to be wiped down. It looked as if the bed was made but nothing else was clean. I can’t even guarantee the sheets were changed.
