Probably one of the best experiences I've ever had with automotive service. The technicians and associates provided high quality repairs and service while also assisting me with choosing the best repair options while also saving a significant amount on the cost. Every staff member went above and beyond with providing knowledge and customer service. One technician (Randy) even provided helpful information for future repair and maintenance considerations upon picking up the vehicle. Literally can't say enough good things about the staff.

Very friendly and helpful. The manager called me 5 days before my scheduled appointment to let me know that she couldn’t get the tires that I ordered online using with a Black Friday deal in in time for my scheduled appt due to them being backordered. She was very nice and offered to get me in 4 similar tires and still gave me the Black Friday deal pricing. She even called me the day before my appointment to verify that the tires had arrived and were ready to be installed the next day. That’s great service.

Had a panic inducing road trip for my birthday across PA and was suggested a 45 mile tow to this PepBoys after my car broke down on I-80. Sean took care of me through the whole afternoon as if I was family he’s known for years. Forever grateful for the service as someone from over 5 hours away.

I'm often on the road and have limited time to spare when I return home, with most of that time dedicated to working on my truck. This doesn't leave much room for other tasks. That's why it became a significant issue when I placed an order for tires that were on sale and scheduled an appointment two weeks in advance. However, upon arriving at my appointment, I was dismayed to discover that they didn't have the tires I had ordered. What disappointed me even more was the lack of communication; they hadn't informed me about the issue.Nevertheless, I want to acknowledge that despite this hiccup, the this tire store went above and beyond to ensure I got the tires needed and installed on my ex's car. I understand that companies can make mistakes, but what truly sets the good ones apart from the rest is how they handle such situations. In this case, I believe they handled it exceptionally well, and I was genuinely pleased with the final results. And thank you especially to the assistant manager. She was great even if she did look a little over worked.

Sean was fantastic at fitting me into the busy schedule and making sure I was taken care of. Waking up to a dead battery is the worst because most places make you drop your car off for the day - but not with this shop! This was my first time at Pep Boys and it was an amazing experience.

DO NOT COME HERE. I took my car in for an inspection and oil change, and they tried to upsell me on new tires/brakes/rotors. Which was fair because it was about time to replace them; however, I later found out they didn't replace my rotors at all, as the ones on my car were still stock and had a decent amount of rust from previous winters. They literally just took my money without getting the parts or doing the work. Admittedly, I'm a college-aged girl so they probably saw me as an easy mark. They did some additional work on the engine and brakes too, but now I'm worried they didn't even do anything they said. I'm including a pic of one of the supposedly brand-new rotors. The people working here should be ashamed of themselves.

EXPLOITATION! DO NOT COME HERE. I took my girlfriend's car in on February 27th, 2023 because I suspected something was wrong with the tire. The front desk associate (Marita T) told us that the car needed new front wheel bearings at least on the left side of the vehicle but that it was best to switch both out because an old one could cause wear and tear on the new one. We trusted the Pepboy's mechanic Anthony B and Marita T when they told us that would be our best option. This week (3 weeks later) we had to take the car to another mechanic because of the same issue we had taken it to Pepboys where we had been exploited for services that were not performed. At the mechanic we went to today we saw that Pepboy mechanic Anthony B, had NEVER changed any parts on the wheel bearings since they were still the original ones that came with the vehicle. We spent almost $1000 on this fraud of an establishment and have nearly died do to the lies of work being done on this vehicle when in reality they just charged us for NOTHING. They took advantage of us because we are in our early 20s and they thought they could get away with it! This establishment should be shut down!!!! In the photo I am showing the piece of the wheel bearing that was still in my car (that pepboys said they changed) and the wheel bearing my other mechanic I went to is going to ACTUALLY install for us because Pep boys state college is a FRAUD AND SCAM.

Hard to sell tires if they never answer the phone!!!! Tried calling 6 different times 3 different days with no answer!!!! Wish I could post a zero star review

Failed to address issue with vehicle. Service technician left early and did not take vehicle for a test drive after said repairs. Picked up vehicle and same issue still present after paying $500 for a repair, the part was up charged from a $60 part to almost $300. After arguing that the part cost $60, service staff said that we could have brought our own part. Not sure that being charged $116 to check code on vehicle was needed. Found two problems with vehicle and I gave the go ahead to make repairs. Went to store to find out only one part was replaced. Absolute zero customer service. Tried calling numerous times when app said vehicle was done and no one answered for over an hour.

DO NOT GO HERE. I was nearly scammed.I made an appointment for my Honda that I've had for a year. I had just moved states and needed an oil change and PA inspection. When I came to pick up my vehicle, they told me there was $1,000 in damages. They said my shocks were leaking fluid, my brake pads needed replaced, and my rotors were "completely rusted."Mind you, I had just had a Maryland (2 year) inspection completed on my vehicle less than 6 months prior. I was shocked that my vehicle needed these repairs, and even more shocked of the price. AND THEY NEVER CHANGED MY OIL. But, they did charge me a $50 fee for God knows what. Their time, I suppose?I told them no to the repairs, and that I would take my car elsewhere for a second opinion. The man at the desk said "that doesn't seem safe of you." I talked to another man at the desk who said they do a double mark up parts because they no longer have parts shipped in. So, they get them from Advance Auto, who already has them marked up, and have to mark it up again for profit.I was baffled, and decided to take the car to my usual mechanic in Mifflin County. He said it looked fine and passed it for inspection. I then took it to another local shop for a THIRD opinion, and he said it looked great. I told the third shop about my encounter with Pep Boys, and he said he's heard of Pep Boys doing this to many clients.Please, take your car elsewhere. They may have great availability, but it isn't worth it. They definitely tried to scam me.

Had an issue with wiring in my car that required removing the interior panels; one of the panels had a preexisting crack that the technician was concerned about - he called me to clear the work before doing it, since he wasn't sure if the piece would break in the process of getting it out. I was told that it could be up to $1300 if they couldn't get it out in one piece, but was thrilled when they called me later and said they were able to get the work done for approximately $300. We've been very pleased with all the work they've done on our cars for years, and the staff are super friendly and willing to explain things!

State college Pa. Store has great employees and store managers. I did have one problem and I hope that someone in a higher position reads this. The online scheduling is a total mess. I made my appointment for 3:30pm and figured that one hour was more than enough time to install a new set of tires. I come to find out that they had 2 mechanics for tires and approximately 9-10 customers scheduled for the same exact time. This has been an ongoing problem for the employees at this store. All it would take is to change the scheduling process to match the amount of help is working the store. Once again, the people at the store were very apologetic and super professional. The problem unfortunately is with corporate.

This place is trash go somewhere else to get your car fixed! If I could leave a 0 star review I would on this place. My starter needed to be replaced so we brought it in and the original bill was 900 dollars for “engine diagnostics” and the replacement. Through some questioning I was able to get the price down to 600 with the help of my dad. But this was the least of my worries. The day after it was “fixed” I was back on the highway when out of nowhere the engine got ridiculously hot which caused me to have to pull over on the side of the road. After letting the car cool down it wouldn’t even start up again and now it is so messed up I need to send it all the way to a dealer!!! This has been really frustrating to say the least! Go else where please

I called yesterday because I needed 2 bulbs put in the front signel lights and was given an appointment for today. I asked if they could come outside & install them, since I'm disabled. No problem. Today he tells me $76. I said "$76 for 2 bulbs, that's ridiculous! " He said "Well, there's the labor and I should try someplace else." Great way to get new customers!!! I'll certainly never go there again, nor will anyone else I know.

After getting a flat in a very rural area, this location was only place open on a Sunday and had the tire I needed in stock within a 100 miles. I was able to get a quick appointment and work was done much quicker than expected. Excellent service.

I got a nail in my tire and needed a tire patch. I was able to easily schedule online and drop off my car the same day. I worked with Rita, who was friendly and helpful. My tire was repaired in a very timely manner. Overall, super satisfied with how easy and quick every part of this process was!

Absolute scam artists and take advantage of women. Wife took our daughters car in for new tires (Amazon) and inspection. Car drove and ran fine up to and including taking it to Pep Boys. "All of a sudden" we have a cracked front wheel hub and a 800 bill. Classic scam of not wanting to put tires on from another business and coming up with repairs that make up the cost. All of this on top of not having any record of the appointment being made even though we called and confirmed it earlier in the week. Also, never did the oil change that was requested when the appointment was made. I will never go there again and will definitely tell everyone I know to avoid this absolute scam of an operation.

Great team and fantastic experience! They are very helpful and friendly! I was looking for a lot of work to be done on some vehicles of mine and was looking for a good place to take them to. I went into Pep Boys and met Rita. She was very helpful start to finish. She kept me up to date throughout all the repairs. I will definitely come back for future repairs!

Great service on getting all season tires before the holidays. Shaun and his team were very cool. I didn't feel pressured to receive any other work done to my car. I received the service I brought my car in for. I feel that I made a wise decision by choosing Pep Boys. Nobody pressured me for more issues or work to be done on my car. Excellent service! They had a comfortable waiting area and the employees were exceptionally nice. Just the way it should be. I highly recommend anyone goes there to get their service for an engine that runs on gasoline and oil.

Kept my car 3 hours for just an oil change and suspension check. Although you have an appointment, they put walk-ins ahead of you, so basically there's no point to get an appointment. After asking why it took so long, the staff admitted that they have to let everyone in to keep their mechanic busy and stay there. However, they should honor the apportionment and do walk-ins if there's time between appointments. Will never go again.

Needed a tire replacement and they were the only place open in all of central PA on a Sunday.Realized a few weeks later while changing my brakes/rotors they completely massacred a lugnut post on the tire. Crossthreaded lugnut and unusable post. Driving around with four lugnuts until they could see me.They scheduled me to come in during their crew's lunch break (awesome?) so had to wait 2 hours instead of an expected one hour. They agreed it was their fault but also "found and fixed" a second post that "couldn't have been their fault" so of course I ended up walking out of there minus $120. I should have fought it. They didn't stop before doing the work to ask if I even wanted anything done beyond their initial repair. No evidence there was even a real problem (didn't have an issue putting any of the other four lugnuts back on myself before this).No apologies, either. Can't say this has been a pleasant experience. I'll certainly be avoiding unless absolutely necessary.Edit - downgrading even further because their customer service saw this review and shoestringed me along with BS emails. Nothing has been resolved.
