Jeff hooked us up! 6 months after we first visited Finatics our tank is going strong and healthy and the owner set us up for success. Learned a lot and I'm enjoying my aquarium. You can get anything you could possibly need for your own home tank, plus a good selection of fish and other aquatic life on sale as well. Won't go anywhere else in town for my home aquarium needs.

Stumbled across this store and I absolutely love them. They take the time to answer any questions and if the folks that are working aren’t sure they will contact the store owner. All 7 of my fish are striving.

The bunnies are all in cages too small and look miserable and unsocialized. Very scared. The fish tanks are dirty too. Terrible place and I hope ASPCA comes in to check it out because those animals were not in healthy environments.

Nice little shop, The owner is super nice and knowledgable. He has some amazing and gorgeous fancy goldfish! I have looked and his are by far higher quality fish within a hundred miles of here in PA. If you are looking for a high quality fancy goldfish this is the place. He also has beautiful koi, available too.

It is nice to walk in and look at fish and not see any dead or sick looking fish. They all look very healthy. Owner is very knowledgeable and helpful. Highly recommended.

Patient, kind, knowledgeable. Only place I found pet rabbits at. Double checked information given and seems to be quite accurate.Edit: bunny had a bot fly, not sure how but sharing information. Vet said don't need special food, anything hay based (simple rabbit feed and lots of hay). Cages are too small for rabbits, they need space.

Walked in this store 4 years ago looking to buy fish 🐠 for my 2 tanks Jeff was so helpful with explaining how to take care of my fantail Gold Fish.. They're still alive. Thank you Jeff and staff. 🙂🙂

The current owner, Jeff, is wonderfully kind and knowledgeable. It’s a great spot for good healthy fish and supplies. My partner and I frequent this shop for the healthy fish, reasonable priced supplies, to watch the fish swim, and for the wonderful service.

Was here the other day, tanks were dirty and looks like they haven’t been cleaned in awhile, the place is overflowing with animals and when I pointed out a sick fish I was told it was okay and they wouldn’t be doing anything. I’ll be reporting this place as I was mortified walking in here. Please do not support a business that treats animals like this.

Got my white, blue-eyed lion head lop from here and he is absolutely precious. You can tell Jeff and his mom really care about the bunnies and have raised them so well. Very knowledgeable family! Might need a second bunny haha

Jeff is my local fish expert! His knowledge in the area is unmatched. I share his advice in Facebook Groups and with other fish enthusiasts. I trust him with all my fish care needs.

We just purchased 6 fish for our pond and we had an awesome experience! Jeff was so helpful with all of our questions and he had great recommendations. It’s so great to have a family-owned pet store so close to us. We can’t wait to come back for our pond needs.

We love this fish store. Jeff and his mom are both very friendly, and eager to help. Jeff answered all of our questions and concerns with confidence and patience. He's full of information on each individual fish. The tanks were well kept, the fish much larger and healthier than other fish stores. The rabbits cages were well kept and they all looked healthy. His mother even let my kids hold a rabbit although we were there for fish. He gave us unsolicited information and gave us hints on how to save money on fish keeping although his business didn't profit from that information. Very personable, patient staff. We came from over an hour away, and this is the best store within a 2 hour radius of us to get fish. He asks questions and has sincere concern for the fish. If you have a new aquarium, or are trying to jumpstart your aquarium without researching them, or without much concern for the actual wellbeing of your fish, you may take all of his information and questions as insulting, but he has sincere love for these fish, and if you're not going to do it right, I wouldn't want to sell you my fish either. So to the lady below me complaining of him asking too many questions, I doubt your fish are still alive. And to the people saying the store is dirty, and the animals aren't cared for, your likely just bots that the big box stores send out to post bad reviews and hurt the little guys. If not, then you're delusional. Oh. P.s. his prices are very fair, and he is the only one around who medicated his fish before selling.

If you feel like getting grilled when you try to buy anything, this is the store for you. Not sure why the owner decided to go this path in life when it’s clear his calling is being a lawyer. I feel like I’m being cross-examined when I try to buy a light for my aquarium or some new decor. I get it: fish welfare is important. But I think it gets a bit out of hand when he asks 20 questions about my setup. I’m glad I don’t live in State College anymore so I don’t have to go here again.

Best aquarium and small animal store in the area! The owner (Jeff) is very passionate about the welfare of the animals, and the I have bought from him over the years are still very healthy and happy. He puts the utmost care into the animals he sells.

Always very friendly and knowledgeable, purchased both our bunnies from them and always go back for the bags or big box of hay.

A great place to get aquarium residents and supplies. Knowledgeable, friendly staff, very good selection. Tanks are well cared for and clean. Dress light, they do keep the place rather warm - right for the fish, not necessarily the people.

This place is always very dirty. The animals are definitely not taken care of properly. It's disgusting how they keep these animals.

Stopped in today to get some fish and check the place out. Took some time to check the bunnies out being I raised show bunnies for years. Beautiful healthy animals. Well cared for and we'll socialized. They care about the animals and want to make sure they go home with what they need. The fish were beautiful and healthy. The fact that they care enough to quarantine new fish says a lot. We will be going back

where do i start... I have been a fish connoisseur and keeper for 10+ plus years and wow. the tanks that house the fish are filthy and extremely inadequate for their sizes. i have never kept more than 3 large oranda goldfish in less than 125 gallons, yet they store them in way smaller tankes and with even more fish. their breeder fish all seem like they're dying or suffering, with two having swim bladder issues and the rest with their fins tucked in and scraped up from decor. with their "decades" of experience i would expect much better conditons; and to show the breeder fish in far less than suitabile conditions, it really makes you wonder if the quality of their offspring is any different than a pet smarts.

Great store! Friendly staff, knowledgeable, clean, and nice selection of small animals and fish. Upon arriving at the store I knew what I intended to adopt as I decided on a small pet, but needed help getting the set up supplies. Both ladies helped me get everything I needed. Shout out to the one lady I think was the owner, she was great. I ended up adopting my pair of gerbils from them. I will continue to shop here for supplies. Thanks Finatics !

If you run a store, you ought to at least man it. I stood at the register for 15 minutes with no sign of employees. I left and came back 10 minutes later, and the other guy who was in there as long as I was told me no one had shown yet. And then he even offered me fish advice. A customer of the store had to offer me advice in the wake of an absentee staff... Okay, cool. I can take my questions to people available to answer and stop going to Finatics. Not a problem.

The Cichlid assortment and variety are the best around here. Although a bit pricey but I feel you pay for quality and healthy animals, And I would rather buy from someone local. Plus the owner is very friendly and knowledgeable.

I adopted my third bunny from here and it was the best experience I’ve had adopting. Everyone was very kind, and informative and definitely wanted the best for their bunnies. They also made sure I was getting the perfect match, I looked at a few, but I am very very happy with my choice. He mentioned he breeds for personality over looks, and that shows quite a bit. My baby, Calvin is doing really well, just over and hour after bringing him home, he was doing binky’s, zoomies, grooming, eating and drinking and we haven’t had an accident yet, he’s very well liter trained. Calvin is so sweet, and friendly, and happy and docile. I’m extremely happy with my experience here and even happier with the boy I brought home.

Jeff sells high quality fish, products, and advice. Most of the fish and plants in my aquarium are from this store, and they are all very healthy and beautiful. Great place to go if you’re starting a new tank! You’ll get the knowhow you need to do it right, so you can really enjoy the hobby!

Jeff is extremely knowledgeable about fish and kindly spent well over an hour on two separate occasions answering all of my questions about becoming a first-time pet owner. The store has become much friendlier since it opened and they no longer sell reptiles or birds (I’m a believer these animals should only be sold in speciality stores) which has freed up a lot of space. I do wish they wouldn’t sell tanks less than 3 gallons for betta, but sadly it’s difficult to change cultural preferences. Unlike big box stores, Finatics treats all of their plants and fish, hence the higher prices. I’ve seen betta go for $8 at PetCo, up to $60 online, so the store’s prices ($15 to $45) isn’t that far out of the normal range. Other aquarium merchandise is not *too* much higher than other places and I’d rather support a local, family-owner business. I can understand why some people are upset waiting for service, but Jeff and his employees are often in the back unpacking supplies and treating fish. It would help if they had a “bell” of some sort, but I just sort of knock by the back area if I need help. Headed over to buy a second snail today.

This pet store made me sad. Multiple cages of rabbits some were 2-3 in one cage. Fish listed on tanks weren't the ones in the tank and most tanks seemed very over crowded. Some of the betta were almost $50 when you can get the same ones for much cheaper at other shops

SICK ANIMALS!! Bought a rabbit for my daughter for Easter. After only a few hours home I noticed the rabbits head turned to the side slightly. I took the bunny to the vet. The vet determined it was an E.cuniculi BRAIN PARASITE. I had to have the poor bun put down within a week of buying her from Finatics. Absolutely horrible experience.

Fish are expensive. Prices of many of the fish are not advertised. Employees appear to make up prices of fish when the price isn’t written on the tank. Owner did not want to come out of the back room to answer our questions about the fish. He made us wait awhile. When he finally did come out he wasn’t wearing a mask. He was grumpy, rude, and short with us. The owner was not knowledgeable but pretended that he was. Extremely unprofessional. The store was cluttered. Rabbit cages were everywhere, even blocking the aisles. I will not shop here again. There are many other pet stores that I can shop at for a better experience (Elmers and That Fish Place).

I wish I could give 0 stars. This store does not have ethical practices. The food they sell for rats, mice, and guinea pigs is not safe because it includes dried corn. Dried corn is known to have mold that will grow inside during the drying process which can very easily kill your small animal. The food mixes (not a professional brand but homemade), do not have the proper type of food that meets any of the animal's needs. Rats and mice are omnivores which means they need a specific % of protein and fat, which is not met when only given bird seed, corn, and other high sugar low protein/fat.The last time I was in there they didn't even sell actual small animal food that wasn't homemade, which means there is no research done on what the animals actually need. The fact that the rats and mice are also kept in fish tanks, which is unsafe and known to cause upper respiratory infections (URI), due to the tank's lack of ventilation. A URI can very quickly turn deadly for rats and mice. Because to nurse a small animal back to health, not only will you need to take the animal to a vet for antibiotics, but also someone to feed the animal and monitor it 24/7 until healthy or the animal's health fails them. Many small animal parents tend to devote 100% of their time to caring for that 1 animal, while the animal is sick. (Highly doubt the employees do this.)Nor do they properly inform people of the actual cost, and care of the animals they sell.Did you know that a majority of the cages sold as rats, mice, guinea pigs, and rabbit cages are not appropriate?1 rat needs 2 cubic feet of space, and you can't have only 1 rat because they are very social creatures on par with a dog.A standard rabbit cage is too small because the rabbit can't run or jump. Most rabbit owners end up free-roaming their rabbits because they need space equal to a cat or dog (except they can't be taught to not chew on unsafe items such as cords). This is all on top of having rats and mice right next to each other, which can be unsafe because Rats are omnivores and can be predator's to mice.
