The BEST place to board dogs in Pittsburgh. We’ve been using Misty Pines for 8 years. Top notch staff and excellent experience. Hank loves it there and won’t stay anywhere else!🤣

Took our Australian Shepherd for grooming. They were absolutely wonderful and spoke with me at length prior to his arrival so they understood his behavioral issues. Other groomers refused to handle him. Our Buddy looks absolutely beautiful and we were very happy! We will definitely be using them again!!!!!

When I walked in the door the first time, I knew I brought my german shepherd Ghost to the right place for a 2 week boot camp. The staff are so friendly and welcoming! You can tell they really care about the animals. The facility is clean and the grounds are beautiful. Ghost will be going back for boarding soon. I totally trust them. A one stop shop for your dogs needs!!!

Took my older dog here previously for training classes. Some of the trainers that I worked with were fine, and I found some of their training methods and their handbook to be quite helpful. However, I found some of their staff to be dismissive and even rude.

I love this place! If I'm taking my dog somewhere to have fun and keep him busy, this is where I go. They are a little bit pricey but that doesn't bother me as I only go to one class a week if I'm not busy and as an added bonus, the dog park is free before and after that class you take! I take my dog to the Toy breed class, Ed normally teaches it and I have to say, he really has a way with the little dogs. I've had one other instructor teach the Toy class and it was very uncomfortable, you could feel all the dogs in the room being very stimulated. But I'm not saying the other instructors are bad as I have seen them teach the classes with the bigger dogs and they do a fantastic job. After coming here maybe fifteen times I have noticed my dogs behavioral and potty problems diminishing and an increase in confidence just by having this outlet for him once a week. I see some reviews stating they could be rough with pets, but I have not experienced this yet. I can't say anything about the daycare or boarding as I have not used either, but I do know they have a window you can watch your dog from while they are in daycare. They also sell these special training collars, I was very iffy to spend money on just a fancy collar, but I ended up getting one after not having much success with his harness, and their training collar REALLY made a difference in training. I'm not sure why, I think it's about the communication through the leash. Overall, I recommend this place!

I had taken my dog here for an overnight to see how he would do for the 2 week training program because he was terrible on a leash. After his initial night, he had a behavioral specialist, I believe his name was Jeff, talk with me about how my dog was. Boy was he short of amazing! He had taught me the proper way to control my dog on a leash. Taking his advice with me, my dog Thor has turned into a completely different dog. He use to pull constantly with a gentle leader on and I have gotten to the point where we can walk without it at all! He’s getting better about barking at other dogs as well. I can tell he truly cared about me teaching my dog the way he should be on a leash. I can never thank him enough for how much happier we both are on walks. Would recommend this place and that trainer any day!

DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG HERE! I enrolled my now 3 year old German Shepard here as a puppy for their two week training program. Not only did they fail to teach him anything, they barely spent anytime training him during the week (they lied and said they just failed to log the hours when I pointed this out) , they let him in with dogs 3x his size and one attacked him. When I came to pick him up they told me there had been an "incident" with a bigger dog but would not fully disclose to me what had happened. To this day my dog is traumatized and dog reactive.

Last minute reservations due to moving, very accommodating and understanding considering I just moved in and expecting t moving van and chaos. One of mine hates thunderstorms and again. Offered comfort and care.

Misty pines is awesome!! They have two separate fenced-in areas for dogs with obstacle courses and even an area designated just for puppies. Additionally, they have some trails on site. Even more exciting, they have a puppy pond that’s gated and features a dock and pavilion area . We went following quarantine and the staff couldn’t have been more organized or professional -keeping everyone safe . Definitely will be back ! My puppy loved it

An amazing place to bring your dog for a couple of hours, daycare, or boarding. The campus is secluded and feels like you're in the middle of the mountains. Very clean, no dog smell and lots to offer! The services and pricing beat out other major chain kennels like Camp Bow Wow. This is my new favorite dog kennel and I'll be coming here often.... With my dogs. My dogs will be the ones coming here. I'm just the chauffer.PS - the groomers here are AMAZING!!! Will never take my dogs anywhere else.PPS - the training staff, Kelly and Jace are also AMAZING!!! Very talented and patient!Five stars!

Lovely boarding facility, nice people who seem happy at thier job. Our pup is returned to us happy and healthy. I do wish they had online tracking info to help confirm we received what was paid for like play time and cuddle time, and I wish they had cameras so I could check in, but overall I feel like they are trustworthy without these things.

I’ve been a Misty Pines client for both training and boarding for over six years. The group training is top notch...a very controlled training environment; practical, real world training techniques; a knowledgeable, fully engaged instructor. The private lessons are a great offering if you’re working toward certification or have specific challenges or training needs. Kelly Grace is professional, personable and dedicated. It’s a huge bonus boarding your dog where he has positive associations of fun and a friendly, familiar environment. Even better is the staff already knows your dog and works hard to meet his needs. They go above and beyond accommodating special needs too. Finally, I’d give bonus stars for their diligence in confirming all vaccinations are up to date for the well being of all their dogs whether training or boarding. Misty Pines is a valuable asset to the community.

Puppy kindergarten was spent listening to a trainer talk about basics of puppy care in a heavily anecdotal manner 90% of the time (while trying to keep a puppy still) with about 5 minutes of puppy play time outside afterwards. It’s a rotating class without an official start and end. It seemed like they do it this way every week, but I didn’t come back to find out. The description of the experience is one that suggests active training, but it was not active at all. They basically tell you a list of all the things you should teach and give you a paper handout. I had been planning to do multiple of the weeks with my puppy but had no desire to repeat the process after the first experience.Additionally, my puppy peed a bit when we got in there and the trainer wasn’t going to be distracted enough to look at me when I asked how I should clean it up. It just dried there bc she just continued to ignore me. This experience reinforced that I would not be spending hours at a late night orientation just to access classes that risked being again mostly listening. There are too many trainers available on YouTube to pay and drive for a primarily listening experience. As a side note. For all trainers I suggest they offer the option of the orientation being available on zoom if dogs can’t come anyway. Sometimes it’s an hour or more driving to get to these classes with traffic and this would be an amazing convenience for many and much appreciated.

$10 entry fee? The entire place isn't actually enclosed in a fence most of it is just a steep hill with some overgrown weeds on it. That my dog ran right out of and out into the street. I would imagine charging the first fee for a dog park in the Pittsburgh area would at least provide a secure area for my loved ones to play. Alas, not this time. So if you're in the area and want to let the pups stretch their legs some, I'd recommend driving past Misty Pines and finding a local community dog park that is safe, secure, and also free.

I've taken my dog a couple of times, and the staff is super friendly. My dog loves to play so she is able to play all day in a play group that fits her energy. The facility is very nice and well taken care of.

I thought Misty Pines was great. We are visiting from Michigan and it was a wonderful place to bring our 8-month-old blue heeler to blow off some steam. He played on the agility course and swam in the pond area. The whole place was well kept up and the staff was very friendly. There are trails to walk your dog places so you do not have to walk them near the cars. On top of what we did, there is also boarding, grooming, and training. The whole place is animal centered and I wish we had something like this back home.

We love Misty Pines. The training classes are done in a good way and help your dog to advance through their program. Super nice trainers with tons of experience.Their offerings are from normal obedience dog classes, over recall, dog swimming, nose work, agility and even summer camps for kids.We boarded our dogs several times and also for long times like nearly 4 weeks. Good experience with that.Yes they are a little more expensive than other training or boarding facilities, but you get what you pay for.

We went for a dock diving class and couldn't be happier. Well, probably still not as happy as the dogs. The instructor was amazing and we can't wait to go back.

We had used Misty Pines for Board and Train in January and had developed a relationship of trust with the trainers and kennel staff. Even though it’s an expensive facility and quite a distance from our home, we used it to board our dog again when my husband had surgery in March, and we continued to train with one of the trainers on the staff. This trainer and our dog had a very special relationship. All this explains is why our most recent boarding experience came as a big shock to us. I dropped off a healthy dog and got her back sick with diarrhea 6 days later. It turns out to be CDiff. No responsibility was taken by the general manager. After this negative experience we will not be going back and I can no longer recommend Misty Pines. But we will certainly miss our trainer and the friendly kennel staff.

Awesome staff and facility! We've been boarding our pup with them for the past 2 years whenever we travel out of town and he comes back to us happy and healthy each time. Playtime is supervised and dogs are grouped by age and temperament, so our 8 year old grumps never felt stressed or anxious when socializing with the other pups. The staff also kept up updated each day on our pup's condition (he sustained a cut on his ear one day before he was boarded) via email and cared for him until he recovered. Highly recommended!

We kennel our doggies there and they come home more relaxed that other places we've used in the past. They have wonderful camps and obedience training too. Their staff is helpful and easy to interact with. My two criticisms are how expensive they can be and that they don't have Sunday pick up times.

Such a beautiful facility! We’ve had our puppy here for pre-boarding and to be groomed and we were very impressed! There is an extensive training facility along with a great dog park with a massive pool. The people are very friendly and quick to offer advice and product suggestions. We will definitely be coming back here for training, boarding and the dog park!

I was so excited to take my 8 month old puppy here, but unfortunately I was let down by the cost and quality of Misty Pines.First, the company makes you attend a $75 "orientation" prior to starting classes. I was really looking forward to having my dog be in a facility that had agility obstacles, so I went against my better judgment and caughed up the cash. The class was two hours long and all they do is trot out a service dog and have him lay there while a trainer tells you about what they have for sale, what classes are available, and read from a slides show. It was ridiculous.... It had a time share sales pitch vibe to it. But I just figured that they were out of touch and this was an easy way to make money.Second, I went to my first class and there is very little to no guidance throughout the entire 45 minutes. You stand around with your puppy and listen to some guy talk into an NSYNC mic about what exercisers you're going to do. He walks around and "observes" but offers no support. At one point the class is directed to move freely around the room to use the obstacles.... But he provides no insight into how to acclimate your dog to the obstacles or direction for the class. I had a new puppy there who was checking things out, and some pushy suburban lady is rushing me along so her dog can go through the course. Now, I understand her motivation to get what she paid for, but I believe the the instructor should discuss etiquette and how new dogs should approach these things.Lastly, at the end of the class I asked the trainer help me put a gentle leader on my dog... I even never used one and didn't want to spook my dog. He agrees to assists me easily enough but my dog got scared, fought being held, and got out of her harness. The trainer did nothing to assist me once that happened and just scolded me to get "get the dog" and told me that "this behavior won't work". Obviously, this behavior won't work man... That's why I'm here. The whole thing just didn't live up to expectations. I didn't get anything from this class that I couldn't get anywhere else....
